Cassandra looked at Rufus doubtfully and she bit her lower lip unconsciously.

"I'm waiting for you! I've marinated the steak in red wine. Dinner will be ready in one minute!"

Rufus said as he dragged Cassandra to the dining table, pulled out a chair and sat her on it. And then, he went back to the kitchen. The sound of the food cooking and the steak sizzling filled Cassandra's ears.

Her mind was hazy and she could tell something was off with Rufus.

A moment later, Rufus came out with two plates of steaks, which smelled rather good. He was unable to hold his smile back.

"Let's eat. You must be starving after a long stressful day!" he said.

As he placed the meal in front of her, Cassandra wafted the smell through her nose and it smelled amazing.

"Do you remember the last time I cooked for you? It's been so long!"

Rufus exclaimed, still unable to take the smile off his face.

Cassandra, too, couldn't help but smile at that memory.

She would never forget that day. It was her birthday and she spent it with Rufus. It was a memorable day because they were just starting to accept one another and their hearts began to connect.

Cassandra cut up a slice of steak and put it into her mouth with her pork. It tasted great, and to let Rufus know, she winked at him.

"Okay, so, tell me. Why are you cooking for me? I don't think you would go to the temple for just nothing."

The knowing look on her face and the tone she was using made Rufus smile even wider but he didn't want to spill anything for now.

"Let's just eat first and then we'll go somewhere after," he said.

Cassandra stopped eating and looked at him puzzled, wondering what was going on.

"We're going out after dinner? But it's already so dark outside!"

she said as she glanced at the clock. It was almost eight.

"You'll find out soon. Just eat your dinner first, okay?"

Rufus was purposely keeping her on the edge of her seat. He was still smiling but he wouldn't say anything.

Cassandra pretended to be annoyed. She wrinkled her nose and put her utensils on the table and stared him down.

"I won't eat if you don't tell me! Come on, Rufus!" She pouted her lips.

She was so hungry that her stomach was growling now and the amazing smell didn't help either. Rufus was leaving her no choice and she was dying to know.

"Fine, it's up to you. But just so you know, I can finish two steaks!"

he said as he grabbed her plate. Then he cut up the steak into pieces and start eating rather hastily.

Cassandra's eyes widened in disbelief, since she'd never seen Rufus like this before.

What was he doing now? Wasn't it impolite to take someone else's plate and eat their food? This was getting ridiculous!

"Rufus Luo, you're so dead!" she threatened.

Cassandra was so pissed that her fac

o mention sitting inside the Ferris wheel she designed!

This was beyond her wildest dreams and she was excited and overwhelmed.

Back then, they had no idea how to close out the gap that had grown between the two of them. All they could do was look at each other from a distance.

Even when they were so close physically, Cassandra found herself unable to close the gap out afraid to hurt one another.

But now, things were different.

They could look into each other's eyes and see each other's souls. They were happy together and their hearts were beating as one.

The amusement park was bustling with people and it was filled with colored lamps everywhere. As they were ascending, they began to see different things even from afar.

"Thank you, Rufus, for everything!" Cassandra whispered as she leaned against him.

She gazed at him sincerely, showing her affection wholeheartedly.

Rufus couldn't help but let out a small laugh. The past was in the past and what mattered now was this moment. Rufus was with the woman he loved the most and nothing could make him happier.

Finally, they reached the highest point. Cassandra instinctively looked down.

However, something unexpected happened.

All of a sudden, all the lights in the amusement park went off. It was pitch black and no one could see anything.

Only the lamps on the wheel were on, the only light in the amusement park.

All the people turned to the big wheel for light with no idea what was going on.

"Rufus, what's going on here?" Cassandra asked, worried.

She grabbed his hand because she was frightened and nervous.

The bustle in the amusement park quieted down for a moment, but the next second, people began to scream and shout.

Then Cassandra saw the lights below and it formed a sentence:

"MARRY ME, CASSANDRA!"

She held her breath and turned to look at Rufus.
