Hair standing on end, Cassandra sensed danger approaching.

All the possible frightening scenarios that played through her mind made her head spin.

If Clark stretched his hands to pull the suits that hung in front of him, he would find out where she was hiding.

What would he do to her?

However, Clark stayed in front of the closet for only a couple of seconds, studying the tidy arrangement of clothes with his sharp eyes. Then quickly, he turned around and walked out of the bedroom.

Then Cassandra heard him opening the door to the living room before he left.

Heaving a sigh of relief, she calmed down and came back senses, only to realize that her back was covered with sweat.

To make doubly sure that Clark was gone, she stayed in the closet a little longer.

On getting out of the closet, she took the little box out, and opened it.

Much to her surprise, there was nothing inside but a kind of strange white powder.

Connecting to what Clark had said on the phone a while ago, Cassandra was sure the powder had to be something illegal and dangerous—probably these were the drugs she had been looking for.

Carefully, she put the box in the pocket of her jacket. Then she returned by the way she had come, slipping out of the hotel cautiously. She got into her car as quickly as possible.

By instinct, she wanted to leave the hotel as soon as possible, so she started the car immediately. However, she didn't know where to go.

"I don’t want a divorce!"

"I did no such thing!"

Ella jumped on the bed and cried out. “I don’t want a scheming woman as my wife. Just sign the paper...

On about the third or fourth ring, thereabouts, he picked the call. But to her, this brief, tense moment seemed like an eternity.

"Hello?"

The familiar, deep and magnetic voice that had always comforted her came from the other end of the phone. It sounded so calm and collected, as if it was at leisure to Cassandra.

"Rufus, I'm tailed after by somebody!" she said, on the verge of tears. "What should I do?" She sounded nervous and weak, almost desperate.

At the moment, her world was in shambles. With regrets, she was pretty sure, the white powder in the box on her back seat was a trap that had brought her this nightmare.

Taking Clark on by herself was a bonehead move that she now kicked herself for. 'How foolish of me to challenge the boss of Dark Night Group and a hardened drug baron to a fight?'

Talking to Rufus over the phone, she feared she would be hearing his voice for the very last time.

In the face of the impending danger, there was nothing he'd magically do to save her. All that she wanted was to let him know what had transpired if she didn't make it out alive.
