The smell of the food was starting to come out from the kitchen. Rufus glanced at Cassandra, who was obviously still angry, and said with a grin, "My aunt cooks really well."

Cassandra glared at him.

Rufus raised his hand to caress her head. "Alright, please don't be mad at me. I'm sorry. It's my fault. Please forgive me, okay?"

When she finally walked out of the kitchen with the dishes in her hands, Michelle saw that Rufus was apologizing to Cassandra. She immediately frowned.

"Rufus, you shouldn't piss a pregnant woman off. Don't you know that?" Michelle said as she placed the dishes on the table.

Rufus didn't know what to do. He didn't mean to make Cassandra angry. He just thought it would be fun to tease her.

Jasper, who was helping set the table, on the other hand, just enjoyed watching Rufus get reprimanded.

Cassandra didn't defend Rufus this time. After all, he deserved to be told off for always teasing her.

Dinner tasted a little bland, just the way Cassandra preferred. As Michelle urged, she ate a lot.

Michelle planned to stay for a couple of days so she could take care of Cassandra, but Rufus and Jasper wouldn't let her.

They had their own reasons. Rufus didn't want Michelle to stay here, for fear that she would find more reasons to scold him.

As for Jasper, he just wanted to spend some alone time with Michelle.

Michelle then had no choice but to leave.

There was plenty of work waiting for her back in America. The people who worked for her were all expecting her to come back. It seemed like they couldn't work without her.

Before she returned home, Cassandra gave Edith a call and told her she had something to tell her in person. However, she didn't give any details.

Edith and Cloris tried to guess what Cassandra was going to tell them. But they couldn't figure it out.

Cloris couldn't wait any longer so she blurted out, "Do you think Cassandra's going to tell us that she's adopted a child?"

Edith murmured, "I don't think so. Maybe Cassandra and Rufus had a fight and she has no choice but to come back home here."

Cloris didn't know what to say. She just grabbed her drink and headed back to her bedroom.

Before leaving, she said, "Mom, don't go overboard. Maybe Cassandra just wants to have dinner with us."

Edith frowned at this. Cassandra had already lost weight. Ever since Cassandra and Rufus went on their honeymoon, she had been worried about whether her daughter was eating and sleeping well.

This only worsened Edith's anxiety as she began to cook their dinner tonight. She'd decided that Cassandra needed to eat a lot when she came over for dinner.

"Why did you buy so many things?" Cassandra asked, watching Rufus putting things inside the trunk. "I don't even know when you bought these stuff."

Rufus smiled. "I got some of these back in Melbourne and the others...I bought them just now.

Hurry up, Cassandra. Time to go." Rufus opened the car door for her.

Once she was in the car, Cassandra said to Rufus, "I bet my mother's cooking a lot since she knows we're coming over. We're going to be eating a lot."

Rufus thought

It all starts on that fateful night.

When Ella, who is the dear sister of Samuel’s best buddy, sneaks into the hotel where the drunken Samuel resides and gets pregnant…

"I don’t want a divorce!"

"I don’t want a divorce!"

"I did no such thing!"

Ella jumped on the bed and cried out. “I don’t want a scheming woman as my wife. Just sign the paper...

irst one to be blamed when people saw that Cassandra had lost weight.

Rufus didn't take this personally because he knew that they were just doing this out of love and care for Cassandra.

He could never get mad at anyone who loved and cared for Cassandra.

"Cassandra, I think I need to do more cooking. From now on, I'm going to focus on learning recipes that are good for the pregnant. My grandchild has to be healthy!" Edith said excitedly.

Since she was getting older, she didn't have any hobbies left except for cooking.

She'd wanted a grandchild for so long. Now that she was finally getting one, she was beyond thrilled.

"Mom, I'm not giving birth until a couple of months later. Don't get too excited just yet," Cassandra reminded.

Edith suddenly started laughing as she thought of her grandchild.

"I'm old, Cassandra. You and Cloris have already grown up. You don't get to spend as much time with me anymore. So I've been wanting a grandchild for so long. Now that I'm finally getting one, I'm just so excited. How wonderful it will be to be able to spend time with my grandchild." She let out a sigh in contentment.

Cassandra knew that Edith often got bored in this house because she was alone. That was why she had encouraged her mother to take part in the cooking programs to kill time. So knowing that this baby would bring so much happiness to her mother

made her feel so lucky to have this baby.

"Mom, you have to help us take care of the baby when it's born. Rufus and I still have plenty of work to do. We certainly can't babysit it all the time," Cassandra said to Edith, smiling.

Edith chuckled, "Great! No problem. I'll do my best to look after my grandchild."

Rufus then piped in, "Mom, please don't spoil the baby too much or it'll grow up to be a little devil."

Cassandra suddenly said, "You can't cook too much for the baby either, or it may grow up to be a really fat kid."

Edith answered carelessly, "Look at you. You have never gotten fat no matter how much you ate. My grandchild needs to eat or it'll end up skinny like you!"
