In the bedroom attached to Rufus's office, Cassandra held a pencil in her hand, lost in thought. After a long time, she was fully in the work mode.

Every once in a while, Rufus opened the door of the bedroom slightly, soundlessly checking on her. Then he would turn around and return to his own work.

By chance, Winnie happened to glance at the door of the bedroom. A smile that almost looked like a sneer appeared at the corner of her lips.

The intense work environment persisted till lunch time without a slight shift.

This time when he opened the door of the bedroom, Rufus found Cassandra biting at the head of the pencil. She seemed to be stuck at something.

She was so absorbed in her thoughts that she didn't notice Rufus's presence, even as he stood right behind her.

"So concentrated, Cassandra? You didn't even realize I'm here?" Rufus's voice finally fell into her ears, making her look up from the desk.

She had been thinking about a design drawing. As soon as she saw him, she complained angrily, "I was about to resolve something in my mind and you interrupted me!"

Even though she looked genuinely angry, Rufus couldn't help but break into laughter. "Alright, I'm sorry! It's my fault. But you may clear your train of thought later. Let's go for lunch," he said, touching her cheek lovingly.

Cassandra wasn't actually very hungry. Blinking, she requested, "Can you wait for another hour? I really want to draw what I've been thinking about before having lunch."

Rufus's face convulsed. With his brows furrowed, he said, "No. You must have your meals on time."

Cassandra wanted to persuade him again, but before she could utter a single word, Rufus said curtly, "If this is how you're going to ignore your meals, you should drop the work and go back home right away."

Cassandra's face changed immediately. Alarmed, she said, "Well, I do feel hungry suddenly. Let's go have lunch, Rufus!" She got up casually as if nothing had happened.

She grabbed his arm, almost pulling him out of the room.

Her eyes landed on Winnie as she stepped out of the room. She thought she should say something to Winnie, lest she felt neglected.

With a smile on her face, she asked, "Miss An, aren't you going for lunch?"

Winnie lifted her hand up. She was holding a document. "I will, as soon as I finish collating this," she said.

Frowning, Rufus interjected, "You don't need to be working during lunch time. Don't make me look like a greedy boss."

Hearing that, Winnie smiled and put down the document on the desk, acting like she was an obedient girl.

"I see. I'm going to have lunch then," she said, getting up.

Without giving it much thought, Cassandra asked, "Miss An, would you like to join us?"

As soon as she finished speaking, Rufus glared in her direction. Obviously, he thought it was a completely unnecessary invitation.

He didn't want anybody, especially someone who he still wasn't familiar with, to join them for lunch. The very imagination of it in his mind seemed weird.

Winnie caught a sight of Rufus's glare. She knew how she had to respond to the invitation. She hesitated for a couple of seconds and then spoke politely, "No, thanks. I will be going with some other colleagues."

Rufus didn't pay attention to her refusal. As long as she wasn't coming, he was happy.

Without saying anything to Winnie, he grasped Cassandra's hand and pulled her to walk out of the office.

Inside,

When her sister ran away from the wedding, Autumn was forced to marry Charles.

His name had been linked to innumerable ladies.

He had different girlfriends for every day of a year.

Autumn had never thought that she would fall in love with him.

ng, Rufus answered, "Ladd is very interested in antiques, and he is a very sophisticated man. I'm sure there would be no fake ones here."

Cassandra held her breath. "Wow! These might be invaluable assets!" she said, then sighed in astonishment.

"Absolutely! Some of these were handed down to him by his ancestors. He has such a huge collection that I haven't even seen half of it!"

Cassandra wondered how a simple man with a simple house like this could possess so many of these antiques!

"I can't understand your friend. Why does he keep these things out here so casually? And he allows other people to see them? What if someone steals something or there is an accident?" she asked.

Her question reminded Rufus of an accident that had happened once before.

He said, "You know, there was once a party here. Some careless fellow broke a china bottle. That bottle was made by a famous craftsman of the Ming Dynasty and had a history of several hundred years!"

Gasping, Cassandra wondered how much the person would have given Ladd to compensate for his mistake.

"Ladd didn't say a word about it. He just swept away the broken pieces and let everybody continue eating and chatting as if nothing had happened," Rufus added casually.

Cassandra was astonished to hear that. To confirm, she asked, "He didn't ask the man for any kind of compensation?"

Touching his nose with his hand, Rufus explained, "In his opinion, the bottle had already been broken, and even if he did ask for a compensation, the piece could never become intact again. Besides, Ladd had no lack of money. That was why he didn't take the accident so seriously."

Cassandra fell into silence. Ladd seemed very broad-minded to her.

However, Rufus continued and told her what had happened after the accident.

"The person who broke the bottle has never come here again after that. That's because Ladd declared publicly he would no longer welcome him here."

"What?" It was becoming difficult for Cassandra to understand Ladd. A moment ago, she had thought he was humble, kind and didn't bear grudges. Now, it seemed like he didn't behave coherently.

Patiently, Rufus explained, "That is because Ladd thinks that person didn't cherish the china bottle at all. He doesn't appreciate those kind of people a lot."
