"Aren't you coming with me?" Rufus asked Cassandra with a big smile right before he was going to leave for work.

Cassandra rolled her eyes at him. "No, I'm not coming with you. Just go!"

He hugged her tightly, and kissed her on the forehead, then left.

For the next couple of days, Cassandra kept working on the venue design at home. Soon, she handed the final drawings to Rufus.

Rufus was more than satisfied with her design. After looking at the plan, he asked her if she wanted to monitor the implementation of her design at the venue.

Cassandra gladly accepted. Since she had promised to take charge of the design, she intended to follow it through to the end.

"Aren't you busy with your own work?" Cassandra stared at Rufus, then continued in a low, reprimanding tone. "I'm busy working here. Why are you here to bother me?"

Rufus responded in a reasonable way, "This is my company. Shouldn't I be inspecting the progress?"

"You are just wasting your time here," Cassandra said bluntly, and decided to ignore Rufus.

Rufus eventually got bored and returned to his own office.

All the people who were working at the venue were from the company. Cassandra was very tender-tempered and treated everyone in a very nice and kind way.

Every time they took a small break, they would gather up and chat with her. Everyone had thought Cassandra would be hard to get along with. However, to their surprise, she was the opposite of it!

The work lasted for a few days and now the decoration was almost done.

"Winnie, have you sent out the invitation letters to all our guests?" Rufus asked.

Winnie nodded her head. "Yes, I have. Everything has been taken care of. All we need to do is wait for them tomorrow night."

That night, Rufus reached back home surprisingly early.

"The party is tomorrow! Shouldn't you be very busy right now?" asked Cassandra. She was confused to see him home so early.

Rufus kept walking toward her, smiling broadly. He had a small box in his hand.

"Someone's sent a gift for you," he said, lifting up the box.

Cassandra looked at the beautifully wrapped box in his hand and asked curiously, "What is it in the box? Who's sent it?"

Rufus handed her the box. "Why don't you find out yourself?"

Cassandra took the box and unwrapped it. She was shocked to see what was inside.

"It's from our aunt!" Inside was a card and a beautiful blue tube dress.

Cassandra let the dress unfold in her hand. It was a well-tailored tube dress. It was simple, yet elegant. The prettiest part of the dress was the brooch. It was made of a sparkling, delicate crystal.

She touched the crystal with her fingers. A cold feeling traveled from her fingers to her spine.

Rufus smiled. "Come on. Try it on. I want to see how you look in it."

Cassandra was holding the dress carefully, her face excited.

Hearing Rufus, she squinted and nodded.

After a while, she walked out of the changing room with that beautiful dress on. Upon seeing her, Rufus's heart almost skipped a beat.

While her smooth, long hair covered the sides of her face, the dress accentuated her perfect figure.

Her body was slim, her face was pretty and c

Drugged one night by her ex-boyfriend, a mysterious man took advantage of her in an ecstatic night filled with sex. To take her revenge, she married the man, and used him. "As long as I'm alive, I'm still his legal wife, while all of you are just his mistresses.”She remained adamant even when he was involved in scandals with other women...

leaned in and whispered into her ear, "I'll be watching you. If you dare even have a sip, I will make you regret it. I will kiss you and make love to you over and over again. You will find it impossible to get out of the bed!"

Rufus then kissed her on her ear. Cassandra couldn't help but smile at the touch. Seeing their intimate moves, the women who had their eyes on them all night, felt disappointed.

"I need to deliver a speech on the stage later. Just stay here and wait for me. Don't wander around, okay?" Rufus took a look at his watch, and reminded Cassandra.

Cassandra nodded her head and answered helplessly, "Alright, I get it. I am not a three-year-old kid who needs to be looked after every minute."

Rufus stared at her with a tender look, and touched her cheek slightly. "I will always treat you like a kid," he said lowly.

His handsome face was lit up with the bright light of the ceiling lamp.

Right when it was time for Rufus to go to the stage for the speech, Cassandra suddenly felt an ominous premonition.

And to her surprise, the very next moment, an accident happened.

The ceiling lamp suddenly fell on the floor. The glass scattered all over the place. A lady was even hurt by it.

Looking at the blood that oozed out of her leg and hearing her scream, Cassandra felt her heart convulse inside her chest.

Rufus rushed off the stage immediately and ran to the lady.

"Call a doctor here! Mind the glass. Don't let anyone step on it."

Cassandra was stuck to her place in shock. She found herself unable to utter even a single word.

If she remembered correctly, she was the one who had gotten that ceiling lamp installed.

She had checked it very carefully. How could it fall down like that?

What exactly was happening?

After a while, everything went back to normal and the venue became quiet again. Rufus walked to Cassandra to check on her.

All the guests had left by that time. Only the TY staff lingered around.

"Cassandra..." Rufus started to ask. "How could that happen?"

Cassandra raised her head up to the ceiling in confusion. "I...I have no idea."
