Cassandra agreed to what Rufus said to her, "So, how about you tell me what higher-level antenatal trainings we can do for our baby?"

After pausing briefly to think, Rufus said, "I will go and get you some books for antenatal training later. In the meantime, you need to start listening to some classical music. It will help cultivate our baby's temperament."

Cassandra couldn't help pursing her lips, disapprovingly. "I think...I think your way is going to involve a lot of hard work."

Rufus pulled her in his arms. "Sweetie, if our baby is as smart as I am. It won't be hard for it at all."

Cassandra couldn't understand what Rufus meant right away. "And what if the baby is like me?"

The corners of Rufus's mouth curved upwards. "Then we should just play simple children's songs for our baby. We shouldn't challenge it with more complicated songs."

Cassandra gritted her teeth. "Get away from me right now, Rufus!"

In the following days, Rufus brought back a few books for Cassandra to read. She skimmed through one of them and doubtfully said, "Are you sure that we should be reading these books to our baby?"

Rufus nodded his head. "These are quite simple and easy. Our baby might love them."

Cassandra threw the book at Rufus and yelled at him, "I don't even understand any of these books! Are you trying to make fun of me?" Cassandra was fuming with anger.

Rufus chuckled and spoke to her in a conciliatory tone, "I'm not making fun of you. I mean it."

Cassandra and Rufus spent their time living a sweet and happy life together. Time flew apace and soon the weekend had arrived.

Winnie reminded Rufus about her birthday party the day before and texted him the address.

Rufus assumed that her party would be held somewhere else. But when he saw the address, he realized that Winnie was going to celebrate her birthday in her house.

However, Winnie mentioned that some of her friends would be coming too and that it would not be just the two of them at the party. Rufus felt relieved to hear that.

"Cassandra, I'm going out for a few hours," Rufus said to Cassandra.

Cassandra was planning on hanging out with Rufus for the weekend. After all, the last time they went out together, things didn't work out nicely, mainly because of her.

Unfortunately, it looked like her plans had more or less fallen through.

"When will you be back?" asked Cassandra.

Rufus gave her a kiss on the forehead. "No later than 8 pm. I will be back as soon as possible."

Cassandra nodded at him with a big smile on her face. "Okay, I will wait for you."

Rufus's plan was to stop by Winnie's house for a while and then come back home right after.

After bidding his wife farewell, Rufus drove out in his car. Instead of going to Winnie's house straight, he stopped at the shopping mall to get her a birthday gift.

"Sir, what kind of jewelry do you prefer?" The shopkeeper greeted Rufus and enthusiastically displayed a wide variety of jewelries.

Rufus randomly picked out a bracelet which he thought was suitable for Winnie and asked the shopkeeper to pack it up.

When he drove past a flower shop, he thought about buying some flowers for Winnie too. However, he felt strange about

“Who does she think she is? I won’t marry her even if she is the last woman on earth,” said Hiram Rong.

“Marry into a family with tens of billions of assets? How lucky I am! I won’t be so foolish as to break off the engagement. At worst, I can receive money as part of the divorce settlement,” said Rachel Ruan.

Their great-grandfathers made a pact about their engagement a hundred years ago...

elationship that Winnie and I have is much simpler than the one between you guys and her. You are the ones she should be protective of, not me."

Winnie's body froze almost immediately. The friend who tried to make fun of them just now, fell silent, feeling utterly embarrassed.

"Okay, that's enough. Dinner is almost ready. We've got some board games on the table. Feel free to play amongst yourselves," Winnie suggested.

"That sounds great!" the moment Winnie finished talking, someone responded immediately.

"I don't know how to play board games," Rufus rejected the invitation from the others.

When they realized that Rufus wasn't a person whom they could easily get along with, they stopped trying to cozy up to him.

Sitting alone on the sofa, Rufus felt more comfortable playing on his phone.

Meanwhile, from the kitchen, Winnie peeked in at the living room from time to time.

Susie who stood by her side said, "Winnie, your boss is so handsome. I've only seen him on a business magazine before. I have to say, he is a lot more handsome in person."

Jade couldn't help joining this conversation. "I totally agree with you. It's such a pity that he's married."

Winnie chuckled in response.

All of a sudden, Susie said, "Winnie, I thought you weren't the kind of person to invite colleagues to your birthday parties. Are you in love with your boss or something?"

Little did Susie know that her suspicions had hit the nail on the head.

However, Winnie didn't give her the response she was expecting. Instead, she gave her an ambiguous answer, "He will never fall in love with me."

The three ladies continued chatting causally while preparing dinner in the kitchen.

"All right, dinner is almost ready to be served."

"Yes, we can bring the dishes to the dining room now."

It was quite a feast to say the least. Winnie even brought out several bottles of wine.

When her friends saw the wine, they all got excited.

"Wow, Winnie's birthday wine. We are so lucky to be able to taste it," said one of her friends, excitedly.

Winnie rolled her eyes at that friend. "That's a bit of an exaggeration."
