Huo Lin’er’s laughter was as clear as a bell when she chuckled. She glared at Ji Mo as she rebuked, “What were you thinking? You really went crazy that day, but I managed to avoid you in time. Otherwise, I would’ve suffered a miserable fate because of you, little man. For some reason, you passed out after that and you’ve been unconscious for about six days.”

“Is that so?” Upon hearing her, Ji Mo was subconsciously disappointed, but it was only a fleeting thought that did not linger in his head.

Huo Lin’er did not mention anything else. She began handling the two quarries by removing their skin to clean them, then roasted them with flames that were condensed from her True Qi. Although she could abstain from eating since she was a cultivator of the Qi Plundering Boundary, Ji Mo had not cast off his worldly body since he was still at the Body Tempering Boundary, hence he needed to consume various grains. Additionally, Ji Mo had been unconscious for around six days without having any liquids, so it was inevitable for his body to be weak.

The hare was golden yellow once it was roasted, and even though there was no seasoning, Ji Mo enjoyed it so much that his mouth became oily. He was starving.

Huo Lin’er giggled while supporting her cheeks with her hands as she watched Ji Mo wolfing his food down. She lifted her delicate chin a little and had a gentle expression on her face as if she was filled with happiness. In fact, Huo Lin’er looked like a wife who had waited for her working husband to return home to try the delicious dishes that she prepared. Indeed, it was a heartwarming scene.

Boom!

A thunderous sound was suddenly heard outside the cave as there was a downpour. The initially clear night sky became gloomy due to the dark clouds that spread over the sky, and crashes of thunder were accompanied by flashes of lightning. It seemed like the rain was a heavenly tribunal.

“It’s raining outside and the thunder’s very intense,” Huo Lin’er said.

“Are you afraid of thunder?” Ji Mo looked up at her curiously.

“Why? If I say that I’m afraid, are you going to protect me, little man?” Huo Lin’er giggled and teased him.

Ji Mo was instantly embarrassed, but Huo Lin’er continued giggling happily because he looked cute when he was shy.

At the spur of the moment, he frowned. The hare meat in his hands fell to the ground, and he looked pale and in pain.

“Why? Did I make you angry?” Huo Lin’er panicked when she noticed the change in Ji Mo’s expression.

“I feel un-unwell…I don’t know why, but it hurts as if something’s going to be gone forever.” Ji Mo furrowed his eyebrows while pressing where his heart was, and he lowered his head with a frightful expression on his face. When he heard the thunder outside the cave, he suddenly felt as though his loved one or a friend was going to die. Ji Mo wanted to yell very badly due to the spontaneous sorrow that he felt.

“Is it a residual effect of the demonic core’s refinement?” Huo Lin’er asked worriedly.

“No…I don’t know why…I just feel like I’m going to lose something,” he responded sadly.

The sky was clouded over at the moment, and there was torrential rain. Countless lightning streaked across the sky, and they seemed like they were going to strike the mountain to destroy it.

Up in the Nine Heavens amidst the rainstorm, a figure traveled through the violent thunder quickly.

The figure emitted a scorching golden light while treading on air, then transformed into a divine light that journeyed through the lightning without being hurt by the lightning at all.

Slosh!

As the heavy rain poured, the divine light figure stopped mid-air. Soon, when the light faded away, the figure was revealed as a gray-haired monkey. The monkey wore a ruined black armor and was holding a large iron rod in its hand. When it stood among the roll of thunders from heaven with the iron rod, the golden light that was stored in its eyes penetrated the void to reach the universe far away.

“Kill!”

The gray-haired monkey had an oppressive momentum as it roared at the sky. Its small body seemed to contain an earth-shattering aura as though it was a huge devil that was calling out to the immortals in heaven with all its might, and its roar was able to shatter mountains and rivers.

Slosh!

Numerous chains stretched out from the dark clouds, and they seemed to have intelligence as they twined around the gray-haired monkey.

“This is hateful and irritating! Nine cycles of reincarnation, nine cycles of reincarnation! Why do you always have to come between when I’m so close to finding the answer? You sealed my memories and stole my powers. I hate you! I hate you!!!” the monkey yelled at the vault of heaven while holding the big iron rod.

Facing the threatening lightning and the thousands of black chains that bound it, it shouted indignantly.

Slosh!

The black chains continued to extend from deep inside the void to wind around the gray-haired monkey. The monkey then screamed as it launched its large iron rod into the void to shatter the void, but it disappeared after that. Next, the monkey faced the rolling thunders in the Nine Heavens alone by releasing a forceful killing intent.

“Kill! Thirty times of combat power! Open!” the gray-haired monkey called at the top of its voice. With an unparalleled fighting will, its aura that could break heaven and earth soared into the sky. With a single punch, it broke all the black chains in the sky, then zoomed toward the unknown beings in the Nine Heavens.

Boom!

A deafening explosion was heard at the deepest part of the void in the Nine Heavens, followed by the occurrence of divine light. It seemed like something had exploded.

After that, a stone that radiated multicolored divine light fell and shot out far away…

“I’m sorry, my old friend. I failed again in this life…”

A voice that was mournful, miserable, and helpless was heard coming from the multicolored divine stone before it vanished from the sky. After that, the dark clouds went away and the lightning disappeared as if nothing had ever happened.

In the dark cave in Mount Luofu, Ji Mo was drenched in sweat while panting heavily, and his veins bulged from his arms. He seemed to see horrifying images when he shut his eyes. After shouting out loud, Ji Mo opened his eyes, but they were black and full of killing intent as he released the Celestial Devil Power instinctively.

The sudden change shocked Huo Lin’er who had been guarding beside him, thus she moved back subconsciously to stay away from him.

Huo Lin’er avoided him as much as she could when she asked, “Ji Mo, what’s wrong? Did you have another nightmare?” The Celestial Devil’s nature that Ji Mo released earlier gave her enormous pressure even though she was a master of the Qi Plundering Boundary.

Ji Mo looked at his palms after sitting up slowly. He had a nightmare just now whereby he dreamed that he was facing immortals alone with an awe-inspiring fighting will. However, a white-clothed lady, who held a multicolored Celestial Sword, stabbed Ji Mo’s chest, and he saw the immortals sneering at him. He then felt his body turning cold slowly as though some power was devouring him, yet the immortals were still laughing out loud like they were celebrating.

A boundless hatred grew inside of Ji Mo right away, but he had no idea what exactly was it that he hated.
