2935 The Dissolution Of Their Discipleship 3

All of a sudden, her craving for wine kicked in again! There was a sense of tastelessness in her mouth, and she could not think of anything better than filling that emptiness with fine wine.

Indeed, she was reminded of the wine from Di Fuyi, especially during one of those days when they were together in the Devil Kingdom and still acting like a couple. At the time, Di Fuyi would always be present around her and bring her for good food and even some shopping.

Those were the days when things were simpler. In fact, it was probably one of her fondest memories.

In anticipation and fear, the day had finally come.

Gu Xijiu agreed to meet with Di Fuyi in a vast solitary desert in the Celestial Kingdom.

The deserted barren territory was only filled with sand. There was not even a tree in sight.

When Di Fuyi arrived, he caught her sitting on the sandy hill, staring at the scorching sun. She did not seem to care about the harm that the sun would do to her eyes.

Also, she seemed a little lonely.

His heart ached for her, but he was also relieved that she showed up as promised.

"Divine Lord," he called out as he approached her from the front.

She stood up and rubbed her eyes to look at him. Her black watery eyes glistened under the sun. Uncomfortably, she rubbed her eyes again before asking, "Do you have any wine? I think we should drink to mark the farewell."

Di Fuyi remained quiet.

Was she trying to play any tricks again?

"No," Di Fuyi firmly denied.

Gu Xijiu seemed a little disappointed, but the smile on her face remained. She then offered him some wine from a bottle. "I do. Shall we?"

Subconsciously, she wanted to have another round of drinks with him. Perhaps, one with more fun and less judgment.

There would not be another opportunity for her.

Di Fuyi honestly thought that she was playing tricks with him again. After all, her drunken behavior was somewhat problematic. He did not want to have to postpone this matter to another day.

He gave her a firm look in the eye and calmly said, "Divine Lord, the dissolution must be enforced, whether you like it or not. If you really want to drink, I will drink as many rounds as you want, but only once we have both fully recovered from the catastrophe. But for now, I will have to decline."

"What if I died from the lightning strikes? I will never get another chance to drink again," Gu Xijiu replied ambiguously.

Di Fuyi took a moment to study her complexion and noticed that her cheeks were pinkish. She looked healthy on the surface. Her strength was perhaps even better than his, as far as he could observe.

Would the thunderbolt really kill her? If she were to die, then Di Fuyi would be gone before her. Di Fuyi found her behavior to be just like a dishonest child who kept coming up with all kinds of excuses to delay doing something.

"Don't worry. I will make sure that you survive the catastrophe. Nothing will happen to you or me." He had spent a significant amount of time to prepare for this day. He would not let anything get in his way.

Gu Xijiu saw the impatient look in his eyes and finally came to terms that she would not have another chance to drink with him again.

There was no point in forcing him, anyway.

Perhaps it had all come to an end for both of them.

Di Fuyi looked at the sky and noticed that time was running out. It was best to get on with matters right away.

He then urged, "Divine Lord, shall we begin? I have many things to attend to after this is done. We should not delay too much."

"Fine," Gu Xijiu replied, after taking a deep breath.

She finally agreed to him.

He was relieved and said, "I need a little time to set up."

Swiftly, he took out a few magical items to set up a wizardry barrier around them. Many golden needles were placed at the edge of the barrier.

Gu Xijiu sat on a dune and watched as he made the preparation.
