Cheng Yang looked at the haunted house and frowned, but after seeing Xiao Ying’s giddy expression, he said nothing and followed her inside.

After entering the haunted house, there was a long passage. It was pitch black, making everything harder to see.

Xiao Ying, walking in front, felt the grip on her hand tighten. She assumed that Cheng Yang was just holding her hand because he was worried she would get lost.

After walking for a while, she didn’t find a single ghost. This was extremely strange to Xiao Ying.

How could a haunted house be scary without any ghosts?

But then she figured it out. Cheng Yang had completely booked the entire venue.

This was the first time Xiao Ying had seen someone clear out an entire venue, staff members included.

“Brother, let’s hurry up and leave. There are no ghosts here. It’s not fun at all.”

Hearing no response, Xiao Ying tugged at the hand she was holding in confusion.

There was still no response. Only after hearing the heavy breathing by her ears did Xiao Ying suspect that something was wrong.

She stopped walking and reached out to touch the blurry shadow behind her.

As soon as she touched him, Cheng Yang pulled her into his embrace.

At a closer proximity, Xiao Ying was more convinced that something was wrong with Cheng Yang. She asked anxiously, “Brother, what happened to you?”

Cheng Yang didn’t speak, but his breathing continued to get heavier.

Xiao Ying panicked, touching random things around her with her hands. She accidentally bumped into a switch and the lights in the haunted house suddenly lit up.

Only then did Xiao Ying see Cheng Yang’s condition clearly.

Cheng Yang’s eyes were closed, his face pale, and his forehead was covered in cold sweat.

Xiao Ying had been wanting to see what Cheng Yang would look like when he was frightened, but now that she actually saw it, she felt a little uncomfortable.

Xiao Ying hesitated for a moment before hugging his shoulders and patting his back comfortingly. “Brother, don’t be afraid. I’m here.”

Those words made Cheng Yang stiffen and he slowly opened his eyes.

Even though his body was trembling from fear, there was not a sliver of fear in his eyes. Or, perhaps it was because he was used to not showing any signs of fear.

Xiao Ying did not know what Cheng Yang had been through in the past, but she still felt a sting at the back of her eyes.

Her voice became even gentler as she said, “Brother, I’m here.”

Cheng Yang embraced her tightly.

He didn’t know if it was the lights turning on or simply Xiao Ying’s presence that gave him courage.

But after that, he carried Xiao Ying out of the haunted house.

By the time they came out, Cheng Yang’s expression had returned to normal.

The suited man was not the only one waiting outside. Behind him was a large group of ghosts in all shapes and sizes.

Xiao Ying snorted in laughter.

The suited man wiped the sweat on his head and said, “I’m sorry, President Cheng. They were all cleared out before. Why don’t you go through the haunted house again?”

Cheng Yang did not reply and just looked at Xiao Ying in his arms.

The suited man also turned his head to wait for Xiao Ying’s instructions.

Xiao Ying shook her head and said, “I don’t want to play anymore. Let’s go play something else.”

Cheng Yang looked deeply at her and said nothing.

The suited man signaled for everyone to leave.

Xiao Ying dragged Cheng Yang around the entire amusement park, avoiding only the enclosed and dark places.

Cheng Yang followed Xiao Ying the entire time, supporting her in whatever she wanted to do.

They played until it was dark before Xiao Ying reluctantly walked out with Cheng Yang.

Seeing that she was really reluctant to leave, Cheng Yang said, “We’ll come play again next time.”

Xiao Ying’s eyes lit up, and she nodded. “Sure. Next time, I’ll play the roller coaster twice, the carousel thrice, the bumper cars twice, no, the bumper cars thrice…”

Cheng Yang nodded and agreed to everything.

Xiao Ying was smiling very happily, but she suddenly met Cheng Yang’s gaze and slowly retracted the smile.

Cheng Yang asked, “What’s wrong?”

Xiao Ying shook her head, but she was not as excited as before.

Cheng Yang couldn’t figure out what she was thinking about, but he didn’t ask further.

Cheng Yang drove Xiao Ying home, and Xiao Ying told him to drop her off by the road

She got out of the car herself and said goodbye to Cheng Yang.

As always, Cheng Yang only left after he saw her enter the gates..
