July 19-20, 20X2 (Around Midnight to Dawn)
Various Places
After they were given food to eat, Wei Linjun edged closer to Ling Ling, who had curled into a ball on his side. Although the ropes that bound their hands together had been cut and taken off of their persons, their feet still remained tightly wrapped. It wasn't just ordinary rope too. It was the kind that was made of plastic, and it was tied in a knot he wasn't sure he was capable of undoing.
He tapped Chang's shoulder and sighed with his hands, do you know how to untie our feet?
Because they were unbounded, they could now quickly sign the language than make alphabets with short words. Communication had become more manageable, but the problem still remains the same. They were still trapped.
Chang looked down and moved his feet so he could see it better. It took him a moment of staring before he briefly nodded and then signed back, I can, what worried me is the door. I think many people will be gone later, now would be the best time to go.
Having already tried to escape many times, Chang immediately signed back, The door is not locked. That type of knob has the lock inside and a keyhole outside.
Nodding in understanding, Chang softly motioned for Ling Ling's sleeping figure before he signed, If we encounter that madman, I want us to separate. I can distract him while you and Ling Ling go. Ask for Ling Ling and I's parents.
Wei Linjun's shock was evident in his face. He signed a short why?
Chang merely signed, I am older.
Linjun almost snorted, You look four minimum or six maximum.
Chang rolled his eyes, I was malnourished. My growth will not be the same as yours. I do not know when or where I was born. I didn't learn how to count the days I spent wandering in the garbage for food.
Chang almost snorted when Linjun's mouth open in, and his beaten-up lips formed into a circle in disbelief. Honestly, the Orphanage believed he was around four to six years old too. Uncle Doctor Li Xi thought otherwise. Chang was supposed to perform some tests to know after the babies were born, but he got taken instead.
Changing the conversation, Chang sighed, Once we are sure that there are fewer people outside, I will untie the ropes in our feet, then stun the guard or guards outside, look for the nearest window to see where we are in the boat, then proceed to escape.
Linjun could do nothing but nod. However, the fire in his eyes burned hotter.
For a few hours, Linjun slept like a baby, resting his weary body, and curled in the warmth of what little Ling Ling can offer. It was when he felt little fingers near his uncle that woke him up in a frantic state. Eyes wide open, he was surprised to see Chang and Ling Ling with feet free. He slowly calmed himself.
Linjun followed his example, after offering his right hand to hold Ling Ling's left hand. Ling Ling shook her head. Holding hands is a nuisance anyway. It would lower their mobility. Chang and Linjun listened to the things that were happening outside. The small hum of the engine distracted them a little, so it took time for them to make out the sound of someone snoring.
Realizing that the man outside the door was sleeping, Chang and Linjun shared smiles.
It was time.
Meanwhile, in Zhao Manor, Hao Chen gaped as Aunt Qinyang let loose. In all his years as someone who had operated in the legal and prospered in the unlawful side of the country, Hao Chen had never seen someone kill like Aunt Qinyang.
As a sniper, he shot once to kill and twice to make sure the target stays dead. Aunt Qinyang shot one time to kill, a second one to kill again, a third just because, a forth to make sure the target stays dead, and a fifth to kill again. If the target were lucky, she'd stop there. If not, she adds five more bullets just because she was proud of Chang Min's work and needed to advertise the work of their family.
How can you even advertise to dead people?
It took only one minute for all the masked men to die. Hao Chen had only used his sniper twice and killed only one. The fact that even his kill was shot an additional eight times by the lady beside him, traumatized Hao Chen. Added, also, the fact that Aunt Qinyang aims at places where the human body is prone to bleed to death and hit it with an accuracy that told Hao Chen how much he needs to improve.
He promised then and there that he would never, ever, do anything to anger Aunt Qinyang.
Hao Chen then slowly relaxed when Aunt Qinyang spoke to her small microphone, "All clear. The two gentlemen in the living room can now clean outside."
When Jerome and Uncle Wu went outside, they sighed in exasperation. The bodies laid on the floor in a random pattern, but the blood that flowed out of them seem to dance as the full moon's light dance in tandem with the shadows of the night.
Fresh blood has always been very reflective.
Jerome began to grumble, "Didn't even leave one alive to play with. This woman is just so annoying."
"Since Jerome is wearing a Janitor outfit, I couldn't help but make him work." Qinyang's voice taunted the Frenchman, who fumed in return.
Wu Tian Li slowly approached the bodies and unmasking everyone. Jerome also checked at the collections of the people that were killed in the landmines, mindfully evading some of the destructive devices that he knew are still buried—searching for that one identifier for that person they needed to eliminate, the Fool.
It took more time to search than to kill, but when everything was checked twice, they knew that things were going to grow harder from now.
There was no Fool.
"This is bad," Jerome said with clenched fists.
Wu Tian Li nodded, but his eyes said the words his mouth didn't. He was worried.
Where is The Fool?
