Chapter 148 - Let Me Tell You A Story Of Past

"T-The E-earth deity…" Feng Po Po answered and immediately buried her face in her palms. The tremendous power the earth deity carried scared her…More than she had expected.

**

'If you ever meet the Earth deity, don't think, don't stare.  Just run! Run away like there is no tomorrow!' The warning Feng Po Po had given her before ran across her mind like a wild horse.

A cold shiver ran down her spine. It was not because of Earth Deity and his power. There was something else that was scaring her more.

The similarity that she and the other girl carried!

They both had knowledge of earth, had a system; although it was just a guess, there was a 99.9 percent chance of that girl having a system with her and finally, a deity that was attached to their soul. It was as if fate was tired of seeing her life and decided to have fun by messing with things.

Le Fang Ling too buried her face in her palm, her thoughts running around trying to find the invisible tail of the thread that was running in her mind. There was still something she seemed to be missing.

'Why did she say she was going to come to meet me again?' She clenched her palm into a fist.  A grunt left her mouth as the prideful face of the girl ran on her mind. The tanned skin of her represented the mud, the earth quite beautifully.

"The Earth Deity… he is the one of the edgiest among all of us," Feng Po Po said as she finally calmed down. She had been in seclusion for five hundred years. For the damn five hundred years, she had cultivated enough power to rival anyone but there was something she was lacking.

It was the ambition and intention. She cultivated her power because she was expected to do so. There was no other reason. She never had the lust for power and strength. Everything she did was what other people expected her to do.

But the earth element deity, he was different. Even after the separation of five hundred years, she still trembled at his presence. Even after growing stringer, she felt like an ant in front of his power.

"That girl, her skin color is the favorite color of the Earth-deity, he had always been one of a choosy one among the five of us," she said with a sigh. "There is no doubt, he chose that girl to be worthy of wielding his power."

Le fang Ling noted everything had been saying in her head. Hearing about the obsession of the Earth deity with a tanned girl more or less confirmed that she was indeed the holder of the power bestowed by Earth Deity. Like Feng Po Po, there was someone else who had absolute control over one element of nature.

"Do you think something is going on? I have a real bad feeling about this," Le fang Ling looked at Feng Po Po who was no more hovering in the air. She was sitting alongside her in the seat.

As powerful as she was, Feng Po Po could not predict the future. She did not have that power. So she simply shook her head. There was nothing more she could tell to her.

"Thank you for being brave! Means a lot," Le Fang Ling rubbed her back with affection. She had never seen that look of terror in Feng Po Po's eyes before.

"Wait," Feng Po Po jerked up from her seat as if she had remembered something. She spoke suddenly, startling both Le Fang Ling and Nagina.

"Oh, what is it?" Le Fang Ling asked while picking up Nagina who was on the floor. She had fallen on the floor. She was pretty sure she was not hurt but still decided to double-check.

"Sorry about that," Feng Po Po apologized with a brief smile before returning to her solemn face. "I remembered something important. Remember what I said about the five elemental deities scattering all around the continent before?"

Le fang Ling did remember something of this sort. She nodded her head as she prodded her to continue. They were already entering the fifth match of the day and she was sure, An Cheng's turn was about to come anytime soon.

"While I shut myself in the wind scroll, the one belonging to Mo family, the remaining other deities too went into seclusion and disappeared from the place they were supposed to be." Feng Po Po sat down and continued her story. It was going to be a long one with many unsolved things. All she could hope was Le Fang Ling was not bored to death.

"Let me start with the history, something that happened many many centuries ago," Feng Po Po looked up in the sky as if looking at a different world that was only visible to her eyes. "It was around 1000 years ago, not much honestly but it's pretty much compared to human life."

Le fang Ling kind of could guess what she was about to say. "Is it about the great war between the human world and the world behind that fort? The world of the so-called formless?"

Feng Po Po looked at her for a bit without any expression on her face before she finally looked away with a nod of her neck. "Yes, it was that war," Feng Po Po brought her knees up and hugged it with her hands. Resting her chin on her knee, she took a deep breath.

Looking at the current Le Fang Ling, she looked like a young girl who was going through problems in her adolescence but had no one to talk to. This scene was a bit…saddening.

"I, we and my brothers and sisters assisted the cultivators during the fight, but we did suffer a big loss on pour side too," Feng Po Po mumbled. "Our power is not limitless and we are not invincible."

Le Fang Ling did not make any comment and simply let her continue talking. Feng Po Po smiled when she realized this.

"The aftermath of the war was terrible…it was more terrible than the war itself," frowning, Feng Po Po tightened the arms around her knees. "There was hunger, there was an illness, there was chaos, and there was death! You could see the shadow of the death god lurking around every day."

"Victory never guarantees eternal happiness, especially if it was made on the sacrifice of someone," a sad whimper left her mouth as the past came to life in her memory, looking like a fresh scene.

As for Le fang Ling, this was the first time she was hearing about this. She immediately got alert about the things that were being said.

"You mean someone died?"

Le Fang Ling asked.

"Hehe, you act like a dummy at times," Feng Po Po chuckled, a bit amused about her. "It was not only one person who died-many people died…"

"But there was someone who did something, she was one stupid little girl," a smile lit up on her face. Le Fang Ling looked in awe at the soft expression on her face, a smile she had never noticed on her face bloomed in her pale face.

"She was someone special?" Le fang Ling asked. She was a bit curious about that person.

"Special? Well, she did do something. I have no idea how or why she could do that, but she helped me to refine my techniques. I was still getting hang of controlling my power but she taught me things that even I never had thought were possible."

"Hmm, so in that case, it is something special, maybe." Feng Po Po chuckled, the rosy tint finally returning to her cheeks. She no longer looked pale as a ghost.

"Like what?" Le fang Ling was not done with her questions. She wanted to know more about the person here.

"I thought the wind was the only power I had, but you know how wind can be anywhere? She made me realize wind itself had various properties, all which I could exploit."

"During that time, there was a young kid from Mo family who practiced with my techniques, more like the techniques from the Mo family. He was more like my apprentice back then," said Feng Po Po. "I can still feel his presence so that means he is still here."

"You mean Elder Mo of the library? He was the one who gave me the wind scroll saying he was the last one to have ever used it."

"After he had put it aside, for 500 years, no one had used this scroll or have tried to decipher what has been written here," Le Fang Ling said as she thought about the meeting she had with elder Mo. He was pretty ashamed about the title of the scroll.

"He said the name was altered a bit with the technique by some senior sister of his," she eyes Feng Po Po curiously. "Is that the same girl that you are talking about?"

"Pfft, yes indeed," Feng Po Po burst out laughing when she heard her. The name was indeed weird but she had let the girl do what she wanted.

"Back to the topic, that girl was a carefree spirit but she died young," a bit clear-headed than before, Feng Po Po continued with her story.

"Her spirit, soul, cultivation base, essence, everything got destroyed when we faced the queen of the formless, the one who could control a legion of beasts and spirit with just her pinky," she gritted her teeth in anger.

"She was the incarnation of hell itself, Lilith! That was her name."
