It was still blurry for both Le Fang ling and Nagina to see clearly what was happening in there. Their visibility-It only got worse with the darkness that was quickly spreading throughout the space.
As soon as the figures in the darkness were done with their vague conversation, Le fang Ling could see nothing at all. Her vision was shrouded by pitch blackness. It was thick to the point, she believed even light would have no chance at penetrating it.
The weird thing about the darkness was not just the thickness but its ability to envelop their senses, making them muddle-headed.
Le fang Ling used all of her qi to keep her awake and sane. If she was to completely lose herself to the surrounding blackness, she knew there was no coming back from it.
Amidst the darkness-suddenly cry rang out- a chilling cry that froze Le Fang Ling's consciousness and entre body.
Even Feng Po Po who was waiting for them to be done was worried sick as she looked at two of her companion. They went silent all of sudden and now, both of them were finally showing signs of movement but it was just stiffening on the spot.
She understood they were in some sort of predicament but she knew it better than anyone to not interfere. Since their brain waves were in perfect synchronization with each other, if she-a third party was to enter, she was likely to bring more harm than benefits.
"Whatever you two are doing, you better return safe," Feng Po Po mumbled to herself as she wrapped the arms tighter around her body.
Meanwhile…
'T-This, I should not-' Le fang Ling cried out in her brain again and again. She was afraid of falling numb due to fear and mental paralysis.
At one point, when she was just about to lose herself, she felt the darkness slowly thinning away. Along with it, her sense came back to the normal stage as well. There was no more dull cloud roaming around her head. Her head became light-headed and clear.
With great difficulty, she forced herself to look in front of her. She forced herself to look at the place which was the origin place of the sharp cry of the girl. As for the voice of the girl, it felt a bit too familiar to her.
'Where did I hear it before?' she questioned herself, knowing that she won't be getting answers to them. 'Uh huh, now is not the time to think about it!' She reprimanded herself to focus on what was going on in the tiger palace.
In the dim brightness, that had just returned, Le fang Ling could see a body stand up slowly from the ground. Before the blackout, there were two people but now, Le Fang Ling confirmed there was only one person in the hall.
Le Fang Ling squinted her eyes to see who it was. Considering that it was the painful shrike of the girl, she wondered if the master killed the girl. But, she was not making the judgment just yet. Le Fang Ling did not want to rush things.
'Ugh, H-host I think I am hitting my limit,' Nagina who had preserved till now could hold on no longer. She had been doing this for the past 5 minutes, and with each passing moment, she could feel herself getting weaker and tired. Her voice was weak in Le Fang Ling's head.
"Okay, fine, we will stop here, let's go!" Le fang ling opened her mouth and was about to say it when she finally decided not to. This was once in a lifetime opportunity to see what this whole thing was about.
"B-But h-host…"
"No buts Nagina, you will transcend your limit here today and now! Don't you dare stop until the last minute, hmmm?' her voice of encouragement rapidly got transmitted to Nagina like a series of data.
'Just a bit more Nagina, I promise to reward you,' Le fang Ling promised in her head. Although she had no idea as to how she will reward this girl, she blurted out what she thought was the best choice in the current situation.
By this moment, the darkness had cleared away, leaving them basking in the cool light of the moon that showered down inside the hall of the Great Tiger Palace. In the pale moonlight, a figure stood tall but leaning a bit.
Crack! Snap!
Sounds of bone joints cracking echoed in the hall as the figure continued to massage the stiff-looking neck and arms. It looked as if someone was trying out a costume after putting it on. For some reason, there was a cold feeling in her heart.
'There is no way that happened, right? Ahahahaha…' Le Fang ling laughed awkwardly within herself. But the more she laughed, the worse she felt…for the doubts in her heart started to take manifestation in real life.
To her horror, the figure turned around. There were no more mosaics and censorship over their face and body, making it easier to see their identity. In the pale light, a humanoid face stared right in front of it without any emotion in its eyes.
Le fang Ling gulped down the nervous saliva in her throat. There was no way that thing was human!! Or
a deity!
The person or that creature…would be a better word to be used considering its appearance at the moment. If devils were as really as how they were portrayed in children's fairy tale books back on earth, then the thing that was standing in front of her was the devil from the depths of hell.
"H-host, this," Nagina shuddered as she looked at the scene in front of her with a frozen expression. They were not present physically but she could not help but feel her whole body go limp with fear. The situation was the same for Le fang Ling.
"We have to see this through, even if-" Le Fang Ling shut her eyes in reflex when a big chunk of meat fell on the ground with a plat! Sound. It was horrible to hear to but the scenery itself was not that pleasant either.
The flesh had fallen from the face of the figure in front of them. It was still fresh and red; the inner muscles of the body were easily visible with the veins and meridians.
As for the fallen piece of flesh on the ground, it was as good as useless. The figure that was in a long purple robe advanced while stepping casually on the chunk of flesh that had fallen on the ground. Since a new piece was about to regenerate and repair his body, he could care less.
Le Fang Ling stared intently at the face of the man or woman. She had no clue right now. But she could see the face of the person change once and again as if trying to find the right face. But the process was grotesque. Having no skin to cover what was going on inside, Le fang Ling could clearly see the tissues combining and breaking down rapidly.
The tissues finally stopped moving as they finally came down to rest.
"Well, let's see, staying as this girl won't be that bad either, she has a pretty face after all," the voice echoed in the empty hall room.
Snap!
Something inside Le fang ling broke.
That was the last thread of sanity that was keeping her sane as she looked at the face-changing monster in front of her. A new layer of skin formed over the muscle masses, covering every area bit by bit. This continued until the entire body was totally made into a brand new body without a single injury.
"Changing body surely does feels nice~~" A satisfied moan echoed in the hall as the figure finally finished stretching. "Plus, a young body," the voice became much cleaner and feminine.
"A young young vessel is indeed nice," a sweet song echoed in the hall which was accompanied by the footsteps of the girl who looked exactly the same as the one they had met in the tournament stadium today.
"That girl?! Don't tell me that the girl we met today was the real girl and this was what happened after she left?" Le Fang Ling was filled with an immense number of questions as the previous assumptions she had created about this whole situation came tumbling down.
There was a high chance of the girl that was in front of them was a vessel. In another word, the human who had been chosen to contain the element deity like how it was planned originally. She had to thank Feng Po po for giving her insights regarding this thing.
But if this was true, there was one thing that did not make sense. It was the reaction of Feng Po po. She was strongly repulsed by the sudden appearance of this girl in the stadium. According to Feng Po Po, she felt the presence of earth deity when this tanned girl appeared in the stadium.
So, this meant this situation had happened today. In other words, what they were looking for, for now, was either an illusion or some sort of space distortion created to direct them to this timeline of the event. If this assumption of her turned out to be correct, then the entire thing they saw since the beginning was all an illusion?
So, what was the point of showing them all of this? Was there even meaning in this whole thing they watched? Not only did they not get any answers, but they were also filled with more questions.
