"Let's go back to my quarter," Le Fang Ling said as she stood up from her seat. Her arms were securely wrapped around the unconscious little snake. "That will be better than any other place."
Feng Po Po had no idea as to what she was going to do but she nodded her head in agreement.
Just as they were about to leave, the whole stadium vibrated with the sound of clapping and cheers. The ongoing match had just ended.
Both Le fang Ling and Feng Po Po paused to take a look at the stage. There, a youngster in a white robe was waiting for the standing triumphantly while his opponent in a green dress was on the ground; kneeling.
"Ahh, senior brother Ming Jiu lost the match," le Fang Ling made a small remark while looking at the sorry figure of Ming Jiu. He was versed in alchemy and stuff, so getting paired with another cultivator who was well versed in the fighting was the cause of his downfall.
"Still, that isn't enough to justify that you indeed failed to do win the match," Le Fang Ling sighed. Although she had not been paying attention to the match because of her reason, it did not change the fact that she was invested in this tournament as much as other people were.
He threw a token towards Jin Ling and nodded his head. Jin Ling took the token with a smirk on his face.
"Winner of the Sixth Match! Jin Ling!"
Elder Shen's voice echoed in the stadium which was accompanied by shouts from the audience. The boy dressed in white, who was called Jin Ling. This boy was slightly taller than the boy from the first match. He also looked a tad bit stronger than the first boy, Bai Lo.
"It was a nice match," Jin Ling leaned in a bit as he stretched out his hand. He wanted to help Ming Jiu to stand up. Ming Jiu raised his neck and peeked at the man.
'Ouch, it hurts!' He cried inwardly when the pain in his neck and back assaulted him once again. Staying up the whole week turned out to be detrimental for him and his match. With a bitter heart and sour taste on his mouth, he took the hand that was offered to him.
An Cheng; who had been observing the fight from the beginning shook her head at the sorry state of Ming Jiu. "He pushed himself too far with making the pills," she sighed inwardly. Partly, it was her fault for giving him the intense job of making pills in a week, which, in normal cases would have taken about a month to be completed.
Meanwhile, Ming Jiu finally stood up from the ground after struggling a bit. Wiping the cold sweat on his forehead, he turned to look at his opponent.
"You are right, it was a nice match indeed-" Just before he was about to be done talking, he was cut off in between by Jin Ling. Oddly, he no longer had a friendly smile on his face. Instead, it was replaced by a look of contempt and disgust as if he was looking at a vermin!
"You are good but not good enough for me." Jin Ling pulled back his hands without care. This sudden change in the personality made Ming Jiu shocked…and a bit speechless. He had only heard about tow faced people but it was his first time seeing someone who could change his persona in a fraction of a second.
What was he?
A two-faced piece of shit?! Ming Jiu shook his head inwardly.
"Sorry about not being able to match your strength, aiyoo…" Ming Jiu clicked his tongue in displeasure. He was also not interested in holding hands with some weird dude in the first meeting. "You should have chosen to fight with an elephant if you wanted to fight someone your size." Ming Jiu did not even look at him as he dusted off his clothes.
His back was not hurting as much as before. 'That's something better,' he sighed. As for losing the match, he was not as sad as he had expected. His main role was something else and he had done with already.
As for the job of winning the matches, he was going to leave it to the other sisters and brothers. After all, they were better fighters than him.
A vein twitched in Jin Ling's face as he looked at the man in front of him. Not only did he dare to hurl insults at him, he even ignored him.
"You!" he unconsciously raised his hand to try and hit Ming Jiu. "You dare talk to me like that!"
Just as he was about to slam down his hand at Ming Jiu, he suddenly felt a strong grip on his arm. The grip was strong enough to make him almost pee his pants.
"Please clear the stage for the next match," Elder Shen interrupted them, his eyes glowing with killing intent. His hand had grabbed the arms of Jin Ling who was about to hit Ming Jiu. "The match is already over."
Seeing that the junior was not budging from his stance, Elder Shen was only more infuriated.
"Junior! You dare?!" He asked sternly while tightening the grip on his arm. "Get off from this stage before I snatch back your token and give it to your opponent." His old but fiery eyes stared at Jin Ling like a vulture staring at its prey. "If that's your wish, then I am more than happy to comply with you."
Elder Shen did not let go of the hand he was grabbing. Seeing that the old Elder was seriously at his tail, Jin Ling finally gave up. "I will leave the stage," he said with a deep frown on his forehead. He threw off the hand that was holding him and walked away without even bothering to apologize.
"Thank you for your hard work, Elder Shen," Ming Jiu said with a slight bow. Elder Shen smiled a bit as he patted him on his back. "Go on now," he turned away from the boy. It was time to welcome the other match participants. Ming Jiu grinned at the elder before strutting off the stage. He wanted to go and rest already.
"Ahem," Elder Shen cleared his throat to grab attention from everyone. The small scuffle from before had somehow brought a bit of chaos in the crowd and now, they were chattering among themselves as if they were in a fish market.
Le Fang Ling watched Ming Jiu walk away from the arena to the section of the participants. "At least he did not get hurt like in the first battle," Le Fang Ling could only feel satisfied with this. Ming Jiu was the person who treated her without any bias when she had first arrived here. In her eyes, he was like a reliable older brother.
"I think we can go now," Le fang Ling finally decided to move away. She had already seen the result of the match. Now, there was nothing more left for her to see.
"Fighter Zheng Pao from the Dead Cicada Village," Elder Shen called out the name of the first participant of the upcoming match. As soon as he was done calling the name, a boy who was seated on the section of the participants stood up. He was dressed in plain clothing yet, his confidence was brimming brightly; making him appear quite the looker.
Zheng Pao? Le Fang Ling halted on the spot once again. The name was too familiar to her that she knew she had to pause. Her eyes once again darted towards the arena and saw a man walking towards the center stage.
The crowd erupted in one of the loudest cheers as soon as Zheng Pao climbed the stage. He was the first guy who was not affiliated with any of the sects. Those people who had gone to the dead Cicada village knew Zheng Pao. He was one of the famous fighters there after all.
"Zheng Pao! Go, boy!!" The men who were acquainted with Zheng Pao shouted out his name. The more the match progressed, the more these people were getting hyped.
"I knew it!" Le fang Ling raised her eyes brows. "Well, he is quite strong. I am kind of sorry for the next opponent." As someone who had faced off against him, she was well-versed with the extent of his strength.
Le Fang Ling shook her head as she looked away from the arena. She was eighty percent sure that Zheng Pao was going to win the match, regardless of the one going against him.
"Let's g-," Le fang Ling stopped midway when she heard the name of the other participant being announced. Her eyes widened, and in those clear turquoise eyes, one could see the mixture of worry, shock, fear, and surprise.
"Disciple An Cheng from the Eternal Blossom Sect; Vermillion Bird Peak," Elder Shen called out the name of the next participant.
"Sister An Cheng! Finally!! Kya!!!" All of the disciples from the sect who were in the spectator's section burst out into cheer. "We have been waiting!!"
Meanwhile, in the participant's section, An Cheng straightened herself and took a deep breath. "I guess it's finally my turn now." A smile crept on her face as she walked towards the stage.
She climbed up to the stage amidst the loud cheer from the audience. She had seen Le Fang Ling before so she knew where she was sitting. From where she was at the moment, she could see Le Fang Ling staring at them. It was hard to look at her expression though.
'I will show you the dance of the wind fairy again, junior sister,' she smiled as she positioned herself against her opponent.. Just as she had unsheathed her sword, she noticed Le fang Ling turning around and walking away.
