Chapter 78: The unexpected Duel (1)

"What is going on here?" A soft but extremely cold voice echoed in the hall when Elder Lin entered the hall, her robes slightly swaying along with the wind.

Once again, the whole hall quieted down for the second time today.

An Lin who was the senior student responsible for announcing any important information and announcement looked at Elder Lin with ashen face.

He scanned the crowd and immediately, his eyes locked with Ming Jiu who was not any better. Ming Jiu looked even worse than him. He remembered his last sentence that he had shouted at the top of his lungs.

'Kick him in the balls!'

'Kick him in the balls!'

His own voice continued to echo in this ear.

'My image is ruined!' He felt stabbing pain in his heart thinking about his image in front of Elder Lin.

'Hey, stupid..' An Lin called out to him in a tiny whisper that only they two could hear.

'What happened to the barrier that I asked you to put around the hall?' He gestured with his eyes to Ming Jiu who looked as if he was  about to have a breakdown.

"Ehehehehe.." Ming Jiu looked at his hands that had long forgotten its main task.

So, he grinned showing his full set of teeth and simply pretended to not have seen An Lin or heard him.

"Traitor!"

"Oho," Elder Lin fanned herself as she continued walking step by step towards the place where Le fang ling and the male disciple were standing facing each other.

Le Fang Ling gave a slight bow to her and continued standing, her eyes unfazed and unyielding.

"I was planning to rest and then what happens?" she looked around as she faced the bowed down head of  all the disciples one by one.

"You people start to have a party!" She gasped in a loud voice, exaggerating most of it as she expressed her shock.

"Without me!!" She wrinkled her eyebrows in a frown and shook her head, heaving a deep sigh of disappointment.

"Ehhhhhhhhh?"

Everyone stared at Elder Lin with dead pan expression as they felt like they were being trolled by her at this point.

Did she just say she wanted to be part of the fun?! Wasn't she supposed to reprimand them for being loud and noisy?

They were hyping up a fight between two disciples and here she was saying she was sad for not being invited to the fun?

There was no way that was going to happen.

"Ming Jiu, by the way that was quite a line." She looked at Ming Jiu who was trying to make himself invisible by trying to shrink hi presence there.

Ming Jiu: "…"

'She just said that?!'

Nope, their ears were ringing or so they thought as they denied  the fact that it was indeed Elder Lin who was saying everything they were hearing.

"Elder Lin, is it okay for us to have a small duel between the students?" An Cheng walked up to her and gave a respectful bow.

"We will be glad if you give us the permission." She decided to take the lead from there to make all of them a lot less guilty.

They already had ignited the fire now all that was left was for her to fan them to make sure it was productive and not something that was going to burn all of them.

"So all this hype was for it?" Elder Lin asked An Cheng who in response nodded her head as she agreed with what she said.

"Hmm, sounds fun." Elder Lin shut her fan with a swift movement.

"So, you two are going to have a duel? Is that right?" She approached the two people and looked at them simultaneously.

"Yes, Elder Lin." Le fang Ling nodded her head.

Elder Lin measured her up for a bit with her eyes before nodding her head. She too wanted to see what this girl accomplished in three days after meeting her.

"Remember you are the one responsible for what you say and do." She reminded her before moving on to look at the boy.

"Err, I guess." The male student whose name was  Song yang nodded his head feeling a little overwhelmed by the sudden development of this event.

Seeing the confident look in Le fang ling's eyes, he felt himself losing more and more confidence in himself.

'Is she really capable? If I remember correctly, she could not even activate the magical orb.' He seriously started to think about the pros and cons of this situation.

He wanted to weigh the chances of him winning if they fought.

'But she is a Le girl and who knows what secret tricks she might have up her sleeves.' Hesitation and doubts started to brew in his heart the more he thought about it.

'She is still not backing out, is she?' He peeked at Le fang ling and saw that she was looking much excited than before.

"….."

'Was that act of being a fragile girl without any talent just a show to make people pity her?' he felt more grossed out by her.

'Just how many tricks is she hiding behind that innocent face?' he  felt the need to pull off the mask from her face and show her true skin to everyone there.

'The heck is he saying at me like that?' Le fang ling felt creeps crawling up her spine just from the way he was looking at her.

"Well, Elder Lin, I think I am ready to accept the challenge."  Song yang smiled smugly and moved  his  heads slowly to loosen the stiff muscles  on his neck.

"Oho.." Elder Lin liked the spirit of the boy.

She had just come here to see what was going on but she had never thought she will really be part of something fun.

She felt as if she had returned back to those days of her in the sect as a disciple.

"Alright!  I will be the overseer of the duel." She was totally looking forward to this duel.

Everyone's mood suddenly turned serious when they realized the fun they were having had turned in to a serious duel between the students.
