As soon as they walked in to the hall, the first sight that welcomed them was that of a young man staring at them with a wide opened eyes with a frozen look on his face.
He seemed to be a young man in his mid twenties with a well developed body and figure but somewhat lacking in luster that a healthy body of a man in his prime was supposed to be carrying.
"Hahh!" A loud bellow of anger echoed in the room once again as a slightly burly man who was behind him struck him with both of his palm on his back.
The crowd that had been going wild seeing them go head on head with each other suddenly went silent upon seeing that final move.
Even the young man himself seemed to have no idea on what just happened to him. With his eyes open like that of a fish, he coughed out a mouthful of blood as he fell down head first on the elevated fighting arena they were standing on.
Upon seeing his opponent taste the dust on the ground, he lifted up his hands and shouted in joy as if letting out all the pent up frustrations.
"The winner is Zheng Pao!" A man on the sidelines roared out the name of the victor as soon as the man was done with his cry of victory.
"See, I said he will win," A merchant with a beer belly who was panting on his seat looking at the fight while holding a cup of wine in one of his hand and a slender young dancing girl on the other, sneered loudly for everyone present there to hear him.
"Bring my money now!" He roared out in laughter as he shook violently making the girl who was sitting on his lap have a slight illusion of being caught up in a small earthquake.
His servant who had a bright red choker on his neck bowed down and went to the opposing side where a different merchant seated with an ugly and distorted look on his face. This loss was something he had not anticipated at all.
"Ughh!" He gritted his teeth as he clenched his hands into a tight fist..
BANG!
He brought down his fist on the table with a loud bang and sneered hatefully looking at the fatso.
Although his hands were unwilling, he brought out the coins in his pouch and counted them twice before handing it to the servant of the merchant that was waiting patiently.
"A loss is a loss." He said with a upright and honest tone as he straightened himself looking at the fatty. Although the snicker of the man wanted him to take back his coins and simply give him a punch on his face, he refrained himself from doing so as he was now in a crowd.
If he was to do something like that, he would totally go against his persona and moral ethics making the people laugh at him. he certainly could not afford to do this.
"This battle was indeed in favor of the Zheng Pao," he admitted his defeat with a dignified look on his face.
However, he was going to make sure the unconscious guy who was down on the ground and on whom he had placed his bet on was going to regret making him lose face and also lose the bet.
"Today was a nice harvest! Wahahahaha!" A greedy laughter followed by a burping sound followed as the man shook the punch containing his prize coins.
While the sound produced when the metal coins struck against each other appeared to be a music to the old merchant, the same sound was like a spear digging on his heart itself for the other merchant who had lost this round.
"That was one hell of a fight!" The onlookers and audiences who had gathered to enjoy the fight said as they gulped down the wines which went to their stomach burning their throat.
"Is there anyone who is willing to challenge Zheng Pao?" The man who was holding this event of sparring asked in a loud voice, his eyes trailing to every guest that were having the time of their life in his booze shop which was well….
A martial fighting arena from before but this was well a story for some other time.
He was more than happy with the new form and evolution of his ancestral hall.
"Is there anyone?!" The man shouted out once again upon seeing everyone backing away when they realized that they were going to have to fight the monster Zheng Pao.
"The winner will get a handsome prize of 30 gold coins!!" He once again tried to entice the crowd but to no avail.
Their whole life was much more important than a measly gold coins.
*Gulp*
Despite saying this, their eye could not leave the sight of gold coins that were glistening in the sun, tempting them to take the risk.
Still, they would have to use more than that amount to get their bones foxed back in place if they even won the competition.
Life is after all, greater than money! They all thought to themselves in unison as they prayed for a crazy and strong hunk to take the stage and fight the monster.
Just as the owner of the shop was looking around in disdain, his eyes feel upon the weird party of 3 people who had entered the room.
"You.." He was excited as he pointed at them.
"Are you not excited about joining the match? You can be rewarded handsomely!" He said with a scheming tone while rubbing his hands.
Upon being pointed like that, all of the people there could not help but turn to look at the entrance to see the *so called hunk* who could beat Zheng Pao.
But to their dismay it was neither a burly hunk who could fight nor it was a cold and composed cultivator who had the power to make the rocks split into half with just a breath from his mouth.
Nah Nah, what they saw was completely out of their imagination and expectation.
An old man with a tattered and battered clothes, a young beautiful looking girl in a clean set of clothes and a small girl who was wearing a hood.
"...."
Just looking at them from where she was standing, Le Fang Ling could see the look of disappointment in their face. Not that she cared about what they thought about her but!
It certainly did not feel nice to be looked down upon by bunch of strangers. She had the unconscious desire to prove that they were so wrong about their speculation on her and her two companions.
Master Yi Feng was not just some normal old man who was roaming around until he stumbled upon this shop.
She was not a weak and sheltered young lady from a Nobel family.
And..
And Nagina was not someone who….er...
Well, even Le fang Ling had not much idea about her so she decided to leave it.
"I think you understand why I brought you here." Master Yi Feng saw that Le Fang Ling was clutching on to her sword with an added concentration and pressure and said with a smile.
More than a question, it was a confirmed statement from his side.
"Just try not to die!" He chuckled in a broke voice as he watched her walk towards the stage full of confidence.
"It's fine even if you lose, haha, I will happily treat your wounds." He was chill and realized about this whole thing. The outcome did not matter to him.
He was only here to observe her…
"I will be counting on you then, master!" she said with a smirk and a raised up tone with a burning gaze on her eyes.
"Go on," he said in a laid back manner as he stroked his beard making an amused face.
"Is no one coming up? Does no one have balls to face Zheng Pao?" he shouted one last time.
"I will be fighting against him!" She announced in a loud voice as she made her way up to the stage, she only stopped when she was facing the guy named Zheng Pao.
"..."
The owner was a little taken aback by the person who was challenging Zheng Pao. Well, not that he was sexist but a pampered young lady was somehow not the right choice against an opponent as Zheng Pao, a martial artist with a ripped muscle.
"Cough, you sure about this?" he asked to make sure she was not here just to troll them.
"And yes, I do not have balls." She made sure he knew it. Even though she had in past..well…that was a different story.
"….."
"Your name young miss?" He asked.
"Its.." she did not want to use her real name so she decided to go with an alias that did not match with anyone in this world.
"It's Pah Jama!" she said with a smile.
"..."
"Cough," the owner coughed as he stood in between them.
"Then please choose who will you bet on! Zheng Pao Vs Pah Jama!" he announced loudly, the names echoing in the hall, sending shivers down the spine of everyone.
