Nathan White's POV
After that talk with Alfred on the line, we have set up a meeting in New York, where I was living with my mum in the house that my mother got from her inheritance. My mother was a socialite but she abandoned that life to be with my father. He was a dangerous CIA agent at that time as he was the Ace. My maternal grandparents hated him but after I was born, they mended their relationship and my mother was on good term with them.
"thank you for meeting me, Alfred. I don't know what to do if…" was the last thing I said as I was being cut off by Alfred.
"anything for my godson," he said as he sipped on his coffee. We were inside a cafe that was located near to my residence.
"godson?" I asked him as he was looking calmly at me.
"yes, godson. Didn't your mother tell you? I was your father's best friend hence he appointed me to be your godfather," he said as I was trying to comprehend the information that I just got.
"wait, do you mean, I have been having a godfather that I don't even know he existed. Where were you went I needed you when I was grieving my father?" I asked him as I don't know what to say to him. He laughed at me.
"hey, I was being serious right now," I said as I was crossing my hands in front of my chest.
"you just like your father," he said that made me looked sharply at him.
"what do you mean?" I asked him as I looked at him deeply. He chuckled before he sighed as he was remembering the good old days of his friendship with my father.
"he would always go for what he wanted, just like how you would do to know where she is," Alfred said before I looked at him squarely.
"you know?" I asked him as I looked at him. I took a sip of my coffee as I wanted to control my urge. I need to know about her but I don't want to be so eager. It killed my mysterious vibe.
"you know you could never keep anything secret from me, right?" He asked me as I looked at him.
"what? I don't have any secrets," I stuttered as I looked at him. He just smiled at me before he left the bill for both of us. Then, he also left something.
"make sure you don't do anything stupid," he said before he nodded his hat at me and left the cafe. I took the envelope that he left into my backpack before I went out of the cafe to my car. I unlocked it before I got in. I locked the car and I took the envelope. I opened it up and there it was, the things that I need to get out of the shit hole. passport, plane tickets, some foreign currency, and a key. I took it to look a little bit closer.
"3031," I read the number on the key. I sighed.
"How should I know which apartment that I should go to?" I exclaimed before my phone rang. I looked at the number and it was unidentified. I took it anyway.
"Hello?" I said as I was waiting who called me.
"The apartment will be provided for you by the tour guide," the unfamiliar voice of a man.
"who is this?" I asked as I gripped my steering wheels.
"just someone to help you realize how much you love her, idiot," was the last thing that I heard before he hangs up on me. I looked at the phone before I threw it on the passenger seat.
"idiot, he said," I hissed before I sped off from the parking to my house.
"Mommy, I'm home," I shouted as I knew my mother was outside.
"mum?" I asked as I saw a note on the fridge. Go get your love, son, -Mother
The note said. I exhaled before smiling. I went to my bedroom before I just took the essence of traveling light. As I was satisfied with my clothing, I went downstairs with the envelope that was given by Alfred. JFK Airport, here I come!
Sabrina Dubois' POV
I don't know that unemployment can be this great. But I can't help myself to keep me busy all the time. I went to the library to get some more information and reading on nanotechnology and bioweapon. I went to help my dad in the organic farm before I went to the farmer's market to sell the stuff. I went to the groceries store with my mum to help her out. Then I spent some quality time with my sister, just talked and talked and talked.
"Sabrina, dinner's ready," my mum shouted as I was finishing my notes on the nanotechnology. I sighed before I saved the files of my writing and closed my laptop. I went downstairs to have some quality time dinner with my family as we were conversing about our day.
"I went to the swimming pool and learned the breaststroke style," my sister said as she continued her story. I just listened to her. My family laughed as I just playing with my foods.
"honey, why are you not eating?" My mum said as she looked at me. I looked up to her as I just smiled at her.
"I just…I don't feel like eating, that's all," I said as I put my fork down.
"oh, honey, are you sick?" My mother said as she went to feel my forehead.
"hmm, you seem fine. Why don't you just eat something just to keep your stomach has something so you won't have gastric, okay?" She said as she looked at me while caressing my cheeks. I nodded as I went to slur some soup before I excuse myself.
"Get plenty of rest," my dad shouted as I went up to my bedroom. Once inside, I went to check my email and I looked that I have a notice from Alfred.
Meet me at the restaurant that you always get your orange chicken but in Lyon
-A
"Okay, that's odd," I said before I looked outside the window and there was a sign that only red Arrows knew. It must be an emergency. I need to go, I thought as I went out to get my coat and my purse, just in case.
"mum, I wanted to get something from the pharmacy, I'll go now, bye," I shouted as I went outside the house and I took my car to go to the restaurant.
It was 25 minutes drive from my house to the restaurant. Not that I'm a picky eater but I just loved it when I can get some time away from my host family. I stopped and parked in front of my favorite restaurant as I got out of the car. I walked up to the door and went inside the restaurant. It was quiet as there were a few customers there. I tried to look for Alfred but he was nowhere to be found.
"Good evening, Sabrina," that familiar voice just hit my eardrums. Goosebumps were creeping on my skins as I can sense his body heat behind me. I was too afraid to turn around until he said,
"turn around," he continued as he sensed that I froze. I slowly turned around and I came to face-to-face with his chest. I have to look up a little bit as he was 6 ft. I can't believe it. He was here, Nathan was here!
"what? how? How did you know I was here?" I stammered as I was stumbling back a little, causing me to hit the table before I fell.
"argh!" I exclaimed and instantly Nathan went to save me. He grabbed me by the waist and I held onto his neck. It was like the time slow down and I can only see his grey orbs that were shone in the dim light of the restaurant. I gasped as I took in his unshaven face, his long hair as if he hasn't kept a tab on himself for weeks.
"Hello, stranger," I purred as I can fell electrics were sipping every time we touched.
"Hello to you too," he whispered back. I chuckled and exhaled my breath as he was giggling at our awkward position.
"oi! Si Vous n'êtes manger pas, voudrez!" The restaurant owner shouted at us we were just standing there for like 15 minutes, looking into each other eyes.
"non, nous mangeons. Désolé," I said before the maître d' helped us to our seating and took our orders. He went away that give us some privacy to talk about.
"so, how are you?" Nathan asked me as I was getting ready for food to arrive. The maître d' came as he showed me the white wine that I ordered.
"merci," I said as I looked at him and he poured us two glasses. He went away after he told that the food will be ready in 20 minutes.
"so, what are you doing here?" I asked Nathan as he looked at me.
"You want the whole story?" He asked as he arched his eyebrow at me.
"Please enlighten me," I said as I took his hand.
"You asked for it," he said before he talked about his meeting with Alfred and stuff. This night just got better and better.
