Chapter 8: The Dance Floor

Liam Hunt's POV

"is it always like this?" I asked Eduardo as the place was crowded with pretentious people of Croatia and all over the world.

"it was a ball for the criminals to gather around and change connections," Eduardo whispered as I looked around, not trying to mingle with them. I only took champagne that was brought around the ball. I drank it all in one shot.

"What should we do now?" I asked as I want to get out of here as soon as possible. Eduardo shrugged as he was looking around as well.

"Excuse me for a minute," he said before disappearing on me. I just about to talk to him before he was gone. I sighed as I took another champagne from the tray.

"Sir, you can't have that," the server said. I waved him off before I walked around before the music was on. The announcer said that we could dance on the dance floor. I sighed before I drank it all.

"Sir!" He said again before I gave him the empty glass.

"make sure to fill it, okay?" I said as I went out of the floor. I went through the crowd before someone held my wrist.

"care for a dance?" A voice coming through from behind. I turned around to see a blondie in a short red dress. I sighed before letting her hand go.

"look, lady, I got to go," I said in Spanish before trying to get out but the crowd just seems possible to get out.

"come on, one dance, what could be hurt?" She said as she pulled me onto the dance floor before I realized what just happen.

We were on the dance floor as she was facing me. I looked at her as everyone else was dancing to the slow music. She snapped her fingers before the spotlight focus on us and the music stopped. A Tango music started to play and she was putting her hands on my shoulder and one in my hand. I automatically put my hand on her small waist as we started dancing.

"I hope you know Tango," she said as we started to sway our body. I twirled her before pulling her into my arms.

"oh my, you do know how to dance," she said as we were moving around the dance floor.

"Tell me about yourself," she asked as I pulled her into my arms. somehow, this person seems familiar to me.

"do I know you?" I asked her as we were face to face. She just laughed as she twirled around again.

"oh, Mr. Hunt, you're such a tease," she said in English as the music ended. We bowed to each other before she went out of my sight. I was shocked to hear that familiar voice before I tried to find her again.

"excuse me," I said as I walked around the crowd. I looked around the red dress that she wore. With the masks that were being worn by everyone, it was hard to detect her.

"damn it," I hissed as I looked around before I got off the dance floor. The announcer said something that was surprising.

"now, we invite John Pravin to the dance floor with his wife," he said before John and his wife went to the dance floor and the slow music was playing. Everyone was joining onto the dance floor. I looked around the ball as there was nothing unusual that was going on. Eduardo was still nowhere to be found. Suddenly, my head was spinning around as I looked around the room. I grunted as I hold onto the bar as I tried to control my headache.

"Sir, you need to get out of here," the server from earlier was holding to me.

"what? No, I need to stay here," I said as I pushed him away.

"Sorry, I don't really want to do this," he said before he pinched on my neck and all of sudden I lost my consciousness. I can feel that my body was being carried from the room into something that was cramped. I grunted before they shut the door.

"goddammit," I said as I gained from my consciousness. The attack on my neck was not as effective as I was trained to avoid those attacks. I rubbed my neck before screams and shouting can be heard from outside. I tried to open the door but it was a lock.

"Damn it," I said before I kicked the door and get out. John Pravin was dead and there was chaos on the top floor. It was the girl in the red dress, the one that was dancing with me. I tried to get to them before she jumped. I ran toward the entrance and got into the Ferrari. I was waiting for the getaway car as it passed me before I followed pursuit them.

Mia Duncan's POV

"I checked him out. He will be passed out in 15 minutes," I told Marco as I was moving away from Liam Hunt. It was a nerve-wracking as we were dancing on the dance floor. His hands were on my body had left a burning desire on my chest. I need to get away out of there, away from him. The last part that I said to him, I blurted it in English. Jesus, Mia. You need to get back on your focus.

"Roger that and be careful, please," Marco said in the earpiece as I walked up to the stairs. I stopped at the balcony before I looked at Liam Hunt that was looking around for me before he went out of the dance floor. I smirked at myself before I went to the elevator. I showed the guard my access card before the elevator ding. I went inside and went upstairs. The elevator ding and it opened into the balcony that was overlooking the dance floor. I looked at the watch and it was 11 PM. John Pravin was still dancing on the dance floor with his wife.

"Enjoy it while you can, Pravin," I whispered as I put on my gloves and set up the Dragunov. I put it on the floor and pointed it out to the Pravin on the floor. They were still dancing as I was about to shoot them.

"Sir, you need to get out of here," Marco said as I heard on the earpiece.

"Marco, who are you talking to," I asked him.

"What? No, I need to stay here," the familiar voice was coming inside the earpiece. Dammit, Marco, your intervention with Liam Hunt.

"Marco! Don't engage with him. I need you to switch off the lights," I hissed at him.

"Sorry, I don't really want to do this," he said before a thud was being heard in the earpiece. I gasped.

"what did you do, Marco?!!" I hissed at him again.

"relax, Mia, he will be safe, well, most of it," he said as he was grunting, trying to carry Liam Hunt out of the ballroom.

"Hurry up. Pravin will be leaving in any second now," I hissed again as I reposition myself. Pravin and his wife were bowing at each other.

"Going down in 3, 2, 1," Marco said before the lights went out. Everyone was panic as Pravin was trying to protect his wife. I looked at him and pointed the Dragunov as I shot at him. It was a silent shot before the light went on again. His wife screamed as she looked at Pravin's lifeless body. I smirked at my achievement before someone was pointing toward me.

"Shit," I whispered before the guards were coming at me. They looked at me as they were ready for battle.

"Stop right there," one of them said as they were running at me.

"here we go again," I said before I took out the Dragunov. They were coming at me at once before I dodged them as I somersault and threw some daggers at them. They were hit as some of them were grounded. They yelled at me as I landed before I took out the .9mm in each hand and shot them. The adrenaline rushed in my blood made me quick on my feet and shot at them all. The crowd downstairs were running around and the police were surrounding at the ground. I killed more and more of the guards until all of them on the ground.

"useless shit," I said as more police coming from the elevator.

"freeze," the leader said before I stood on the edge of the window.

"go, go, go," I said as Marco hit the peddle and we drove out of the gallery as the police still shoot at us.

"sucker," I said as they disappear from the rearview mirror.
