Chapter 13: The Lie

Liam Hunt's POV

"wait, what? Why do we have to go there?" I asked her as I was strapping my seatbelt. We were in the forest where I parked the car. I hid it so it would be easier for me to get out to the city if I was bored at the homestay.

"about 30 hours," I said as I started the ignition before she fastens her seatbelt.

"well, let's hope that the place is supposed to be like how they wanted it to be," she said before I drove off toward the hotel that Mia was staying.

After 30 minutes drive from the outskirt to the city of Split, we came to a stop as I parallel parked the car across the street of the hotel Mia was supposed to stay and lay low after her mission. We looked at the hotel before Mia was getting ready to get her disguise.

"Give me your jacket," she said.

"What?" I asked, making sure of what she was asking for.

"Give me your jacket! I need to go in there undetected," she said. She put on the jacket before tying up her hair into a messy bun.

"do you have any caps, pants. I need to change so that the agency won't suspect a thing," she said as she was undressing her dress in front of me. I was speechless before she snapped me out of it.

"Liam, I need pants and a cap. Please don't stare like you never see a woman naked before," she spatted at me.

"Not in the public at least," I said as I opened the trunk of the car and went to get the pants and cap that she asked for. I brought 2 caps and pants so that I can use one as well.

"here," I said as Mia took and slipped it on. It went smoothly over her long legs. She then zipped up the jacket and put on the cap.

"You should put one too," she stated the obvious. I rolled my eyes before she got up from the car and I locked it. We walked across the street and went into the lobby.

"Hi, one room, please. Can you make it on 215, please? My fiancé and I were on our vacation," she said in immaculate Spanish as she took my hand to hold hers.

"ah, a nice choice to be staying here. How many nights do you want?" The receptionist was talking animatedly with Mia.

"can you make it one only, please? We have to get moving tomorrow morning. We just stopping by to rest. Isn't that true, sweetheart?" She said before touching our noses together. I was speechless but impressed with her acting.

"I love your necklace by the way," she said as the receptionist was blushing at the comment.

"thank you, my mum gave it to me," she said before she wrote something and gave the key to Mia.

"my fiancé will pay for us," she said before getting away from the counter and went up to the stairs. I looked at the receptionist before giving my credit card to pay for the hotel in awkward silence.

"You leave me there, alone, with that receptionist. I never thought you would just leave me," I said as I was complaining.

"shh, relax. You're doing a great job at that," she said before patting my cheeks. She went to unlock the door for 215 as I was looking closely at 214.

"Why don't we just go in there?" I asked her as she was unlocking the door.

"someone one would be waiting inside to make sure that it's only me," she said before turning around and snaked her hands around my neck.

"Now, kiss me. We need to make that we looked like a happy couple," she said. Before I could say anything, Mia pulled me in to kiss me on the lips as she was opening the door to the room.

"Hmm," was the only thing that I can say at that heated moment. She pulled me in enough to keep me guessing what could have happened if we met under different measures.

"Are you feeling uncomfortable?" She said before releasing me. She closed the door before she went to the balcony. She took a look before went to my side.

"there was someone in the room. I need to make sure that it was just the housekeeping, not my acquaintance," she said before she looked at me.

"wait for me," she said before getting to the balcony and disappeared.

"wait," I hissed before she was out of my view.

Mia Duncan's POV

I jumped from the balcony to the other one as I don't want to surprise the person that was in the room. I edged out to the door to look that it was actually a housekeeper that already done clean up the mess as I went inside the room. I picked the door lock before getting in and close it. I knocked on the wall to ensure that Liam got my message that all was clear. I went to open the door and Liam was getting out from the door.

"that was your message off the coast clear," Liam said as he was inside the room.

"well, we don't have telephone and if I used one, the organization will come at me," I said as I went to look for everything that was in order and to think the housekeeper will not touch my stuff was good enough.

"okay, but why are we here anyway?" Liam asked as it was obvious. I rolled my eyes at him before went into the bathroom. I pulled a chair to get to the ceiling of the bathroom. I snapped the ceiling as it popped a hole that I have everything that I need to tell the organization I had completed my mission.

"Now, for the fun part," I said as I sent a text through the phone that was given to me. It was only to communicate by receiving a call for my next mission and my accomplishment after the mission.

"that's where you're hiding your phone. Anyone could have taken it," Liam said as he leaned on the doorframe.

"But you did not, do you?" I said as I smirked at him before putting the chair to its original place. A knock disturbs us as we were about to leave.

"it could be my acquaintance, quick hide!" I whispered at Liam as we looked at each other.

"Where?" He hissed as there was no walk-in closet and any space that would fit him.

"under the bed! Under the bed!" I whispered as I rushed him to get to under the bed. The knocks got angrier as I did not open it. The handle turned to push it open.

"Hurry!" I hissed as he was completely under the table. I went to the door before I was getting my gun.

"yes?" I said in Spanish. The knock stopped as a voice replied.

"it's me, open the door, Mia," Marco said as I put the gun on the table before unlocking the door and opened it to see Marco was smiling like an idiot.

"what do you want?" I said lazily as Marco walked into the room. I closed the door as I tried not to make sure that Liam will be staying under the bed and not moving.

"Where have you been these 2 days? I have been worried sick. The organization was calling me like crazy and you don't even answer your phone," Marco said as he looked at the phone that was in my hand.

"the battery is dead. I need to get it to replace but unfortunately, the battery was nowhere to be found. So, I have to find the charger in the city and then I got lost and with nowhere to go, I…" was everything that I said before Marco hugged me like a bear.

"God, if anything happened to you, I would not forgive myself. I will be unstoppable, yes, but I don't want you dead to be the best," he said as he went to kiss me on the lips. I avoided as I pushed him at arms' length.

"Yeah, it was good to see you too. Can you come back later? The organization wants me to report back to HQ as quickly as possible," I said as I tried to push him out of the door.

"Yeah, okay, but…" was the last thing Marco said as I pushed him through the door,

"bye!" I said before closing the door and locked it. I leaned at the door before blowing my hair out of the way.

"that's harsh," Liam said as he went out under the bed.

"tell me about it," I said as I walked toward him before taking a seat and sighed relief.
