Chapter 17: The Apartment

Anastasia Honchar's POV

I have been mad at Marco for not accepting my help last night. Moreover that he wanted to do nothing with me when all I did was made him a porridge. But of course, that was for my cover. I have developed some of the treatments that might counterattack his drug inside his immune system.

But I did not know the exact ingredients that he used. He refused to tell me so I have Val to look up for Marco's drug experiment and luckily, he found one.

"That's one nasty drug. How can he cope with all that?" He asked me as I was on Skype with him when he sent me the document. I was doing my weekly report to him as I don't want to talk to Alfred.

"anything that I should know about Marco?" I asked him. He shrugged.

"I cannot think of anything that might be important to you right now but just in case," he said before a beep was on my laptop. I opened my email and it has the medical document of Marco Conti. I grimaced.

"Val, you know this stuff is confidential right?" I asked him as I was downloading it, nonetheless. He smirked.

"well, I cannot keep my hands away from all the secrets that might be lurking around. I even might know some of yours," he said. suddenly, I chuckled nervously.

"Yeah, right. Like you wanted to know about my medical record and shit," I said as I was putting Marco's files inside my folder that I have specifically for him. I even encrypted it so that no one will know how to open it. Except for Val. I cannot trust that guy.

"Okay, I got to run. I need to do it so that he might be useful for us," I said.

"Hmm," was the only response that I got from Val before I rolled my eyes at him and I went to say my goodbyes to him.

"Bye, Val. I got to go back to work," I said before I closed the Skype. It was tiring but it's good to see that I have vented out some of my problems to him. I smiled before I went to bed later that night and I hope that my porridge did work.

but, how wrong I was when I saw Marco right now. He has been energetic and charming this morning but now that it was almost midnight, he was about to collapse in my cubicle. I was glad that most of the people have gone out because it was Friday night. I think that drinks have to wait for this one.

"Hang on, Marco," I whispered to him as he was nodding slowly. He did not have much strength left. I need to move him out of everyone's sight.

"hold on to me," I said as I was carrying him against my shoulder. I was sweaty but I could care less about my appearance with Marco right now.

"Anna, it's hurting me," he whispered. I shushed him to make sure that he was awake.

"it's fine. I have developed some drugs to counterattack the drug. But we need to get back to my place," I said as I was dragging him out of the office. But of course, life was not that easy as my boss was pulling up in front of me.

"Ms. Honchar, Mr. Conti. What is going on?" He asked almost cheerfully. I gritted my teeth under my breath.

"you got to be kidding me," I said under my breath and I can hear that Marco was laughing that was coming out like a whisper.

"Sir, excuse us please, I have to attend my husband," I said as I was pulling Marco to the side, to the sidewalk as I just realized that he did not bring his car today.

"Well, certainly I can help you, Ms. Honchar, if you don't mind," he said before he was bold enough to hold my arm. I closed my eyes as irritation was coming against my chest before I sighed loudly.

"Can you stand on your feet for a second?" I asked Marco. He nodded before I leaned him against the wall of the building. I turned to look at my old, disgusting boss before I smiled sweetly at him.

"thank you so much for the offer," I said before I touched his hand. He beamed at me as if I had succumbed to his charm. In your little dreams, loser.

"But," I said as I twisted his fingers at an odd angle. He gasped before he held his breath as his eyes were bulging as he was surpassing the twists that I did to his hands. His face was red as a tomato.

"I would like to attend to my husband rather than your affairs. So, if you excuse me, we must get going then," I said as I was twisting the hardest that I can without breaking his fingers. He yelped before I released it.

"Have a good day," I said before I went to Marco. He was smirking at me even when his blood has been drained out of his face.

"well, that's scary, wife. I wonder what makes you so mad," he whispered huskily as he was leaning against my shoulder. I scoffed.

"you don't want to know," I whispered back before I heard that old man was screaming at me.

"You will pay for this, Honchar! I will make sure of that!" He said before I flipped him off. He scoffed before he went to his car and drove off. At least he was out of my grasp for now.

"Next time, it will be more than just breaking his fingers," I said grunted as I was holding Marco's weight on me. For someone lean, he was heavy.

"I would like to see that, wife," he whispered before we walked and walked for 2 km before we were in front of the apartment that I was renting, for now, courtesy of Val of course.

"Good evening, Ms. Honchar. Did you bring a guest? Is he alright?" The doorman was asking me as I was smiling at him.

"Yeah, well, actually he's my husband. yeah. He was visiting from Italy. He had so much drink right now that I don't think he can see straight," I said happily as I was smiling at him. He nodded at me before helping me to get the door.

"thank you," I said to him as I was dragging Marco to the elevator.

"anytime, ma'am," he said as he tipped his hat at me before I pressed the button on the elevator and it dinged. Not so many people out here right now as they were either partying or drinking too much for anything.

"Come on, stay awake. We almost there," I said as I was holding Marco in my arms. He was leaning against me as his head was inside the crook of my neck. If anyone sees this, they might think Marco was being obscene with me in public.

"you smell nice," he said as he nuzzled my neck. Blood rushed to my face as I was clearing my throat.

"well, I am sweaty and dirty from lab work. How can I be smelling nice?" I asked as we rode to my floor. He chuckled and my heart thumped. I gulped and I hope that he did not hear the loud beating of my heart. The elevator dinged before I put him on my shoulder again.

"come on, we can make it if you have more little strength in you," I said as I was encouraging him to get to my room. I was holding out the keys as we were walking toward the door before I slid the card inside the lock and I was pulling Marco inside before he was leaning against the door as I was closing the door. I huffed.

"I must be heavy that you brought me all the way here," he said as he was looking at me, more like staring at me.

"well, thanks, captain obvious," I said as I went to put my stuff onto the counter before I walked to his side again and he was shaking his head, refusing my help.

"it's alright, I can walk by myself now. That effect had been diminished when I was nuzzling your neck," he said as he was smirking at me. I blushed before I excused myself to make some coffee and offered him.

"just black, thanks," he said before I nodded. I told him to take a seat on the sofas and he gladly did as he has been dragged for about 5 km.

"What a blessing," I heard him sighed before I went to start the machine. I put some ground coffee and waited for it to be done. It was 5 minutes as I was pulling some biscuits that he might enjoy with his black coffee.

I went to pick up a tray and put some coffee into the mugs as well as the biscuits that I brought out. I was about to bring it out when Marco stopped me as he trapped me in between his arms. I arched my eyebrow.
