Kyle Conti's POV
After Alina announced that she was engaged to me, the butler or whoever he was, organized an engagement party for both of us. I was so happy that Alina has finally come clean on our terms of relationship but my head has been spinning nonstop these days.
"Honey, are you ready?" Alina asked me as I was staring myself in the mirror as I was in my black suit for the party. I saw through the mirror that Alina was wearing a spaghetti strap red dress as it hung her figure well. I might have to punish some people who stared at her tonight.
"Almost, dear. I just don't get the tie right," I said as I was trying to strap the tie in the right place.
"let me," she said as she took the tie from my hand.
"be my guest," I said as she pulled me closer to her. She wrapped the tie around my neck and helped me tie the bowtie. I looked at her concentrated face as she was so focused that she forgot about me.
"You look beautiful tonight, I'm afraid that I have to kill everyone that tries to get to you," I said as I was caressing her hair.
"hmm, I like it when you tried to take control over me, honey," she said as her deep blue eyes were staring at me.
"is everything in place?" I asked her. She looked at me as she was satisfied with her work on my necktie.
"looks good. yeah, everything is done and will be ready when you're ready to descend the stairs with me," she said as she was checking herself in the mirror.
"Yeah, I'm ready. Let's get this party started," I said as I was chuckling at her. She took my hand as she dragged me out of the bedroom. We stopped for a moment at the stairs.
"there's one thing that you need to know," she said as Alina looked at me.
I arched my eyebrow at her as I waited for her explanation.
"maybe later, I suppose. We don't want people to wait on us," she said as she ascended the stair with me at her side.
As we went down the stairs, the crowd was clapping as they congratulate us. I can't believe that Alina has a lot of relatives and they did not seem that old.
"Congratulations, honey," a woman like my mum's age if she would be alive, was kissing her cheeks and Alina smiled at her.
"Thank you, auntie. May I present to you my fiancé, Kyle. Kyle, this is my aunty Monica. She was from the island of Greeks," she said as Alina looked at me. Aunty Monica was holding her hand in front of me.
"How are you, aunty Monica? I hope that you are well as we have troubled you to come here," I said as I was trying to be polite.
"oh, hush dear. It was alright. I haven't seen Alina for centuries. Of course, I will come to see who is her soulmate," she said as she looked me up and down.
"aunty! Please, spare the family talking to me. We don't want Kyle to be overwhelmed tonight," Alina said as she was blushing tonight. She was red as a tomato.
"oh dear, you don't know that. Maybe Kyle would love to hear about our history," Aunty Monica was making Alina even redder.
"no that's fine. He has to be somewhere else. We'll talk to you later, bye," Alina said as she pulled me before Aunty Monica can reply to anything that Alina just said.
"Fuh, that was close," she said as she was moving from her aunt.
"what was that?" I asked her.
"What's what?" She replied.
"That! You don't like when Aunty Monica said about your family. why, is there any secret?" I joked with her. She rolled her eyes before taking my hands again.
"Come on, we have to meet other people. That's was just one person from my side of the family," she said as she dragged me to meet a new relative.
"how many do you invite?" I asked her.
"About 300," she replied.
"and how many came?" I asked again.
"About 500 people. Come on, come on, we don't have all night," Alina said as she pushed me through the crowd.
"This is uncle Monti," Alina said. I nodded as I was shaking his hand.
"This is aunty Morty," Alina said. I smiled at him.
"This is aunty Carla and her son, Aaron," Alina said as her cousin was looking at her with love. I just wanted to rip his head off but I just shook his hand firmly before I kissed Aunt Carla's cheeks. I was just stood there and did not talk all the time as Alina was introducing me to her relatives. It just made me think that she might be related to the whole of Romania.
"And here, lastly we have my brother, Luke Dalca," Alina said as she looked at me. I was so messed up as I was walking for nonstop and was giving my respect to all the people before.
"How are you doing?" Her brother said. I took his hand and looked at his face. He did look familiar from somewhere. I blinked a few times as I looked at him.
"do I know you from somewhere. I swear I saw you somewhere," I said as I was pointing at him. Luke just laughed as Alina looked at me.
"of course, mate. Remember the party that we have here weeks ago? You were there," he said as he patted my back. I was still confused.
"I'm sorry, last week? I have been here?" I asked him.
"Okay, I think that's enough introduction, don't you think? We need to move on now," Alina said as she tried to take my hand.
"easy there, sis. I think your fiancé don't remember that he punched me in the face," Luke said as he looked at me.
"I'm sorry, I punched you? When did that happen?" I asked.
"You were thrashing around as I was talking to my sister. Why don't you remember? You went mad that day. Man, I wished I have recorded you," Luke said as Alina was trying to make me move from here.
"Okay, Luke. He does not remember. No big deal. Maybe he was drunk or something. We have to meet someone else now," Alina said as she tried to make her brother stopped talking to me.
"Hmm, who is it, I wonder?" Luke said before shook my hand for the second time.
"Anyway, welcome to the family, I hope you will make my sister happy," he said before he pulled me into a hug.
"if not, I will find and bite you," he whispered at me.
"just kidding," he said before getting out of our way.
"finally," Alina said as she was trying to move somewhere before a familiar voice come into my eardrum.
"mind if I want to congratulate you both?" A voice from behind made Alina jumped in her stand. I turned around to see who was it.
"Mr. De Ville. What a pleasant surprise. What are you doing here?" I asked him as we shook the hand.
"Well, I came to congratulate you on your engagement. Is that not enough reason to come?" He asked as Alina just rolled her eyes at him.
"Here, let me introduce you to my fiancée, Alina. Alina, this is the newest investor in my lodge business," I said as I was looking at her.
"How are you?" Alina said as she shook his hand.
"good, and you?" He replied.
"Good, good. Nothing special," she said before we went into a silent awkward.
"Well, I let you get to know each other first. Iris was calling me like crazy so I will go now," Alina said as she went out to make her exit. I turned to Vlad and just shrugged.
Alina Dalca's POV
"Why the hell is he here?!!" I whispered to myself as I was looking for my brother. He would know why Mr. De Ville was here. I remembered distinctively that I did not invite him to the party.
"Luke, where are you?" I asked myself as I was walking around. I tried to look around the ballroom. It was crowded as I tried to look for him.
"Looking for someone?" A voice that I don't want to hear right now. I closed my eyes as I wished he would go away but he did not.
"nicely done, Alina. I knew that I can count on you to make that Conti boy succumb to your charm," he said.
"I did not do it because of your instruction, I did it to save him from you," I said as I turned around to look at that despicable man.
"tomato, tomatah. It is the same. Make sure that he will sign the land away and it will be ours to reclaim," he said as his brown eyes were waring me, scared the shit out of me as I can feel his dark energy was out of this world.
"Well, let see if that ever happens," I said as I tried to challenge him.
"oh, the little lamb has finally stood up for her food. impressive. I like it, you have my blood in your body. That's made me you are my daughter. I must say I'm sorry about your ma," he said as he was sipping on his champagne.
"of course, I don't but you already knew that," he said before he walked away. I gripped my hands until my knuckles turned white.
"we'll see who have the last laugh next time," I said before I went to look for my brother again.
