Chapter 21: The Truth

Alina Dalca's POV

"what's taking him so long?" I asked myself as I was pacing back and forth in front of our bed in Kyle's bedroom. I was worried sick when he went out a couple of hours ago and hasn't returned yet. A knock disturbed me before Laura came into the bedroom.

"Oh, Alina. You haven't sleep yet? It's almost 2 AM in the morning. You should sleep, dear," she said as she handed me warm milk that can eventually help me sleep.

"I'm sorry. It just, it just I am worried about Kyle," I said as I sat on the bed.

"Please, honey. Kyle is a grown-up man. I'm sure he will return soon enough," Laura said before she urged me to take a sip of the warm milk.

"Here, it might help you to get some sleep," she said as I drank the whole glass of milk just so that she would stop worrying about me.

"Thank you," I said to her as I handed her the empty glass.

"you're welcome. now. Just go to bed. I'm sure Kyle will turn up soon," Laura said before she went outside of the bedroom. She looked at me one last time before she closed the door and I went to get my handphone. It was inside the drawer near my side of the bed. I opened up and dialed Valentino's number. I knew from Alfred that he was in Italy to keep on the tabs of Camila and Sabrina.

"Hello? His groggy voice came from the other end of the line.

"Are you sleeping?" Was the first question that I asked him. He sighed before clearing his throat.

"if you don't mind me, I am human. I need my beauty sleep and beside it was 2 AM in the morning. Of course, I would be sleeping!" He said on the phone.

"Yeah, sorry. I want to ask you about something but since you're not in the mood, I just ask you in the morning," I said before I heard him sighing for the second time.

"whatever. besides, I already up. Might as well help you with your request, oh your highness," he said sarcastically.

"Watch it, mister. You might not know that would be true," I said to him. I can literally feel that he was rolling his eyes at me.

"Okay, I want you to track Kyle Conti. He just went missing for the last couple of hours when Vladislaus De Ville came to see him," I said as I fired up my own laptop that was connected to Val's.

"Okay, I will check all the CCTVs in Italy's highway and roads to see if they ever left the mansion," he said as I can hear that he was typing something onto the computer.

"There. I saw him. He went inside a black Lamborghini in front of the Conti mansion after Iris called him," I said as I looked at him and he was escorted by someone else. Iris did not follow him.

"Shit," I heard Valentino was cursing.

"What is it?" I asked if he was seeing something that I might miss.

"Nothing. Carry on," he said as I looked at the laptop again.

"Okay, they went out for a sweet ride. The car turned right and went into the highway," I said as I went to look at the car disappeared. I clicked on the highway CCTVs, wishing that the car would turn up and I knew where were they going.

"there! It came on the exit at a countryside looking road," I said as I was looking into the camera.

"damn, that was a road to the Amalfi Coast," Val said.

"What!" I said before I discontinued the phone call and closed the laptop. I knew that my father has a factory in Amalfi coast and I need to stop him before he did anything to Kyle, my soulmate. The phone rang again and I was doubting that Val was calling me.

"What?" I asked him as I put on the Bluetooth connection.

"You wanted to go to the Amalfi coast, right?" He asked.

"Yeah, what kind of question is that?" I said to him as I vampiric ran to get my clothes and packed it into my backpack. I need to be prepared to face my father as he was one of the oldest vampires that ever existed. And not to mention, he was my master and creature.

"Damn it. I can't go against him. He's too strong. I need to find something that I can break his connection to me," I said as I knew Val will never understand me.

"I know what can break your curse," Val said as he was whistling in the phone.

"why you never tell me?" I asked him.

"well, you never asked," he said. I rolled my eyes as if he was in front of me.

"You need to go back to Romania and went into Dracula's castle. There will be a sapphire that can break the curse if you wear it when you are facing your father. I knew that because I studied Vampirism a long time ago," Val said as he was walking around to get some water.

"and now you just decided to tell me, why?" I asked him again as I was feeling angry at him.

"Alfred afraid that you might fail and by the looks of it, you are. So he chooses to let you know because you might need reinforcement," he said.

"well, thank you. Have you informed them?" I asked him.

"No need. This is my battle. I need to finish this, alone," I said as I was strapping myself with the dagger, and Glock.

"good luck, Alina. I knew you can do it and break the spell," he said before I sighed.

"I hope so too, Val. wish me luck," I said.

"Always," he said before he ended the phone call and I went toward the window. I looked down and saw that I was on the 4th floor. This mansion was totally enormous and high up.

"here we go," I said as I jumped out of the window.

Kyle Conti's POV

I don't know what happened as I don't think that I ever remember what happened last night. The last thing that I remembered was I danced with Alina on a tango song. My head was spinning wildly as I don't know where was I right now. I looked around and it was all black. I cannot make out the figure of the place that I was sitting in. But whenever I tried to move, I was tied quite tightly to the chair.

"Hello? Anybody there?" I shouted as it was so dark and I cannot make anything. suddenly, a burst of light was flashing on top of me and I cannot see anyone that was standing in my path.

"Hello, Kyle Conti. Since you don't want to sell that land, we need to find another way to get it," a voice was coming into the darkness. I was looking around frantically as I don't know what to do.

"Who are you? Where am I? What do you want with me?" I shouted again as I was looking around. A footstep was coming into a view and I was so shocked to see who was standing in front of me.

"Hello, Kyle. Comfortable?" Vlad asked as he was smiling wickedly at me.

"Vlad?" I said as I was too shocked to say anything.

"What just happened? Why am I tied to this chair?" I asked him as I cannot make out what was going on right now. Vlad? Vlad was the one that tried to buy my lodge.

"I tried to warn you, Conti, that your involvement with Alina Dalca has made me took some radical steps to be considered. Now that you are marrying my daughter, I will never allow you to succeed and renovate that lodge. You see, I have to reclaim what was mine," he said as he looked at me wickedly.

"What do you mean?" I asked him as I don't understand what was he trying to say to me.

"that land was my ancestor's sacred land to make a human sacrifice. You see, I am not like you. I am what we called 'the creature of the night'. We are a little bit different," Vlad said as he smiled at me. now, I definitely knew what he means by different. His fangs were showing as he was smiling at me and his eyes were not black, it was bright red as if he was ready to do some damage.

"Now that we established that. Let me introduced you to my humble servant, Charlotte!" He called before a woman, around 20-25 years old showed up at his side.

"ready to serve you, master," she said as she kneeled beside Vlad.

"charlotte, meet my client, Kyle. Kyle, Charlotte. I hope you guys will get to know each other," he said before he went out of the room. I looked at Charlotte and she was looking at me with her pink eyes. Her skin was pale and her hair was white as snow. oh-uh.

"Well, the master said to get to know each other. Let's play," she said before she smiled with her fangs were showing.

Oh lord, what have I got myself into?!!
