Alina Dalca's POV
My mother has always told me that I was special and I was the only one that can set us free. My family, The House of Dalca, has always been proud of our heritage to be the original of the Romanian population since the country was formed. My ancestor was the proudest warrior to fight for the independence of the country as well as how we acted in the world that was concealed by the human.
"Remember your proud root, Alina. Do not let him ruin it," my mother last wish as she was lying on her death bed.
"Mother, please, I don't understand," I said as I only remembered that I was 15 years old at the time.
"You will understand when you get older, dear. I believe in you," she said as she drew her last breath.
"mother, NO!" I screamed as I was closing in on to her lifeless body. I was sobbing so hard that I cannot even remember what was going on at that time. I remembered that I was being dragged by my so-called father as he was coming to the mansion to claim me as his firstborn.
"You will forget about her and move on. I don't want you to be useless to me, as your mother," he said as he was looking cynical at me. I was sobbing hard that I just stared at his face. He was a handsome, young man that I remembered his face did not change for the last decades. I thought he was special and kind but it turned out that he was only faking it.
"You may address me as 'sir' but when we were making an appearance in the public, I want you to call me 'father'," he said as he was looking at me like it was nothing. He stood in the way of the hallway as I was settled in my new bedroom at his castle. I knew that he was bad news as he was the reason that my mother was dying and died. I blamed him for everything that he did to my family and also my brother.
"Where's my brother?" I asked boldly before he looked at me, glaring murderously.
"Sir," I said ask bowed at him. He smirked as he was in control of the house.
"Your brother will not be joining us, he will have a different role and use for me in this household. Don't you worry, he will be a great man after this, I can promise you that," he said as he was looking proud to the evil scheme that he had for my brother?
"like how you made my mother an evil witch?" I said before he appeared in front of me so quickly that I don't have time to react. He held my neck before he snarled at me.
"Do not speak of her while I am around or I will break this neck like it was a toothpick, understood?" He hissed as I was holding at his hand for air. I nodded quickly so that he will break it, well not now, not ever.
"Understood, sir," I stuttered as his grip was deadly.
"Good, now be a good girl and study," he said before dropping me to the ground.
I gasped as I woke up from my sleep as I was dreaming about the past. I don't believe it that I still have a nightmare since I was the creature of the night. I don't do a nightmare.
"love, what's wrong?" Kyle asked as he went to my side, vampire speed. I was huffing for breath as I can sense that it was a very vivid dream. I knew that I went through that I never thought that even though Vlad was gone for good, it still haunted me.
"Nothing, it was just a memory of my mother," I said as I was holding my temple and closed my eyes.
"well, don't scare me like that. I can sense that your heartbeat was beating so fast. Do you want to talk about it?" Kyle asked as he looked at me while caressing my cheeks. I leaned into his touch as I missed it, actually need it.
"Thanks, Kyle. I'm okay. I just hope it doesn't affect the baby," I said as I looked at my baby bump that was 2 trimester now. I knew what you all thinking but the baby bump was growing faster and faster than a normal human baby. I should have known since I was not human.
"it's okay, I'll call for a doctor tomorrow morning. now, sleep again, love. I'm here beside you," Kyle said as he was coming to the bed, escorting me to the bed.
"kyle?" I asked as I was getting comfy inside the bed with Kyle laid next to me.
"Hmm?" He replied.
"Have I told you that I was a part vampire and a part of witch?" I said as I can sense that he was tensed up.
"So, what about it?" He said as he looked at me.
"no, it's just.." I sighed as I looked at him. He was waiting for my answer before I took a deep breath and looked deep into his green orbs.
"This baby will be the target of the vampire council as you know that I have them when you were still human. The vampire cannot have an interbreed species with anything besides the vampire. I was being hunted when I was a baby as my mother was a witch and my father, being ignorant as always, disappeared after I was being born. My mother sacrifices herself to protect me," I said as I looked at him, hoping that he understands what I was trying to say.
"Meaning?" He asked.
"I might need to sacrifice myself if this baby comes into this world," I said as I was holding his hand. I can sense that he was tensed again.
"isn't there any other way?" He asked as he looked at me. I looked at my hands as I down know what to say, I don't know the history of vampire or witch as I don't study them. I was being abandoned by my father and I ran from home. suddenly, eureka!
"I think I know who to contact about this matter," I said as I was smiling at him, hope was coming out from my face.
"You do? That's great, love. Let's go with that option first then if it doesn't work out, we'll figure something else," he said as I fetched my phone on the night table. I punched the familiar number and waited for a few rings before he answered it.
"Hello?" He asked with a groggy voice.
"Val, I need your help," I said as I was looking at Kyle for support.
Anastasia Honchar's POV
"No, no, no. I failed again," I said as I put the beaker and the test tube onto the table.
"nothing's work. I don't know what I have gone wrong. I have followed every instruction and all the ingredients were accurately calculated. What else is missing?" I said as I looked at the formula that I developed over the past few months.
"no," I said as I threw the sheets around.
"No," I said as I threw some more.
"There's got to be something that I can make it right," I said as I looked at the books and formula sheets.
"if I could make it here, and then put it in this," I said before I was rudely interrupted by the phone. I sighed before I needed to leave my table and went to get it. It was the familiar number that I have not seen a couple of years now.
"Hello?" I said as I punched the green button.
"Oh thank god, you're alive, still," he said as I rolled my eyes at his answer.
"well hello to you too, Val," I said annoyed by his cheerful voice.
"it's Sabrina. She needs your help," Val's sad voice made me stopped all my action.
"Sabby? What happened? What's wrong with her?" I asked as I knew that Sabrina has been exposed to a bioweapon lately but she did not show any sign that she was in danger.
"she's fine but she needs your help. And, you have a new customer at that," he said as I was a bit skeptic at that for a moment.
"Val, what did you do?" I asked as I was waiting for his answer.
"I might just say that you have the cure for a vampire that wants to turn into a human?" He said before I wanted to facepalm myself.
"let me guess, Alina?" I said as I was pinching the bridge of my nose.
"more of her child. She wants her to have a normal life until 18 years old. Can you make that happen?" He asked. I sighed as I looked at the old formula that I first succeed.
"give me 3 months then, have her come to my lab," I said before I hang up. I sighed as I looked at my board. Looked like I have a whole new mission to do.
