Chapter 41 - Training Time! P2

Mungo was heading straight towards me at high speeds. Going far faster than he was a few hours ago, maybe 10 times more or so, but still I need to massively restrain myself to be on his level less I accidentally cripple, or worse kill him. However, even if he is far faster than he was earlier I couldn't help but shake my head in disappointment. I've already told him from an earlier spar, that patient is key, especially when you are at a disadvantage in a fight.

So when I sent my hand out to grab at him, half-heartedly, and he ducked under the grab and sent his fist barreling to my c.h.e.s.t I was a bit surprised. I quickly, however, jumped backward and narrowly avoid his punch, his fist grazing my fur barely, and put some distance between us to recover a little at the small amount of shock I felt.

'Wow, he would have landed a hit on me if I had put any real power in that grab I attempted. It seems that my teachings about 'Fooling your enemy' by introducing new and unexpected things into a battle are a surefire way to win a battle.'

"Impressive Mungo. If I hadn't been prepared and known less about how fast you really are or even if I went through with that attack, you would have already won. And sorry, for not taking you seriously, you have wakened me up. Now the real fight starts now!" I close my eyes and take a deep breath, before I roar and charge him.

*3rd POV*

Mungo's body tenses as he stands at the ready to meet Magma's charge head-on, and it is not very long before Magma is upon Mungo towering over his body and casting a shadow over his body.

Magma threw a downward punch towards Mungo that was blindingly fast and caused the air to whistle, Mungo, knowing he couldn't block a punch like that choose to leap up into the air to avoid it and it's the effect it will have on the surroundings.

*BOOM*

The punch met the ground with a loud-sounding boom and cracked and fractured it heavily, causing a mass cloud of dust to cover Magma's body from view, while Mungo landed a fair bit of distance away so he wouldn't be affected by the aftermath of that devasting punch. Mungo waited with bated breath and tensed muscles, waiting to see what Magma would pull out next, as Magma wasn't one to just mindlessly throw his weight and strength around.

After a second passed, a massive piece of broken clumped-up dirt was thrown through the cloud of dust, clearing it, and heading rapidly in Mungo's direction.

Mungo rushed toward the makeshift projectile and slide under it and continued rushing forward towards the unexpecting Magma, that was waiting with another in his hands.

Seeing Mungo, Magma was surprised at first, before he threw the other piece a Mungo, not giving him a chance to gain any momentum, as he knows Mungo is the faster of the two -when he limits himself- and could quickly land a hit if given the chance. Mungo quickly dodges to the left, avoiding the clump of dirt, but loses his momentum because of it.

Mungo seeing his plan didn't work out, stops and thinks for a second about how to proceed, while Magma just observes his every move intensely and thinking how he only needs one shot to end this. Both stared at each other not moving. After a second, however, Mungo suddenly shoves his hands into the ground and rips out two clumps of dirt before he chucks them in Magma's direction. Magma not caring for them just slaps them out of his way, however, he failed to take into account was how breaking them caused a small cloud of dust to block his vision for a second. That second was all that Mungo needed, to finish this.

Mungo already prepared himself for that split-second he knew he would have, blasted forward towards Magma and on the way grabbed a small clump of dirt on the way. Magma hearing the wind whistling knew he messed up slapped in the direction he heard Mungo was at, to try and divert him and clear the dust.

But Mungo predicted this and jumped over his slap and threw the small clump of dirt straight at Magma's unprotected eyes, blinking him. Magma howled in pain and distress and fiercely brought both his arms to rub at his eyes instinctively, momentarily forgetting about the bet, and tensed his muscles to take the hit he knew that was coming. And Mungo starting to fall, kicked out with all his strength towards Magma's c.h.e.s.t...and striking him, pushing him back 1cm, and finally falling to the ground. All was silent before.

"Yes, yes, yes! I did it, I did it! Take that in your stupid face! Hahahaha!" Mungo's joyful cheers resounded out loud across the once peaceful and beautiful field, now destroyed and in disarray.

"You damn cheeky brat! My eyes!" Magma's wrathful voice was the next to sound out.

*A few minutes later*

"Well done brat. I'm surprised that you pulled that off, I didn't expect you to learn from me that fast especially in the middle of the fight. Be proud, you of really outdone yourself and improved immensely in these few hours and you actually get to eat tonight. Now come on let's go hunting." Magma waves over Mungo as he proceeds to walk out of the clearing and Mungo hops to his feet fast and following closely on his heels.

"Sir yes Sir!" And with that, they both head deeper into the forest in search of some fresh fruits or prey to find.

*Mungo's POV*

Man! That fight sure was really...ummm...exciting? Yeah, something like that. But that was sooo cool, I never knew fighting was so fun and really, really, really want to do that again, but it's getting pretty late so we probably can't, or maybe I can get Magma to want to fight again, but how would I even go about doing that...oh ma-

"Mungo, focus we are here to hunt, don't let other thoughts cloud your mind, focus on your objective you are here for, and once we get back to our training site then you can rumble all you want in peace, but not here and now, that also applies to fighting as well." Sir Magma snaps me out of my thoughts and has me focus on what we were here for...oops silly me.

"Ahaha, sorry about that just still excited? Yeah, that word, from the fight and how cool it was, I've never really felt this way before, it's a new but good feeling that I like. But yeah, I won't lose focus again sir." I laugh slyly and scratched the back of my head in slight embarrassment.

"It's alright Mungo, it was your first real fight and it seems you are what that call a battle junkie, and I suppose that is a good thing, just you need to check your d.e.s.i.r.es and such in control. You control your emotions, they don't control you. I would know how bad that can turn out if you don't, as you can remember how I was before I met his Majesty." At that, I flinch as the memory is brought back to the front of my mind.

"Yeah...I definitely will learn to keep my emotions in check then...don't want to mess up that bad." Magma paused at that and his fists clenched tightly, oops I think I messed up...again.

"S-sorry...I didn't mean it like that!" I look down at the floor as I really shouldn't have said that...that was really rude of me.

"*Sigh*, it's alright, we have all make mistakes we just need to own up to them and try to correct them as much as possible. But let's get rid of these depressing thoughts and get ourselves some food, shall we?" I look up to see Magma smiling down at me, and I weakly sent a smile back.

"Y-yeah...*inhale**exhale*, let's do this." And off we go.
