Distere's PoV:
I had arrived at a forest with the same topography as the forest that I was in.
I found a huge green slime that was thrice as huge as I am. It might be the monsters that one of the heroes had found fought against.
What's odd was that there wasn't any hero that was fighting against the huge green slime.
The hero who had fought against the huge green slime must have died when he had fought against it.
I observed the surroundings while sensing the traces of mana that could give me a clue about this situation.
There were traces of sticky slime on the grass and a set of footprints on the ground.
It was clear that there was a hero or a human who was fighting against the huge green slime and there was even mana in the surroundings that was different from the huge green slime's mana.
What's more, was that the mana of the person who had fought against the green slime was the mana of a hero so I could assume that the one who had a battle against it was one of us.
The surroundings were also destroyed and there were patches of dirt that had been removed from the ground but did not leave the soil that was removed.
As far as I could remember, the only hero that could destroy an object without leaving any traces was Ferros Malum.
Sure he had a skill that would destroy almost anything and would still leave the destroyed object, but Ferros often used his destruction magic that could wipe out anything instead of his other destruction skill.
Why am I even playing detective here?
The evidence that I had collected proved that the hero who had fought against the huge green slime had lost.
Since no one could escape this forest that had some sort of magic to trap the person within this forest unless it was forcibly attacked, then Ferros should have died against the huge green slime.
The huge green slime must have swallowed him whole and had digested him.
I could only blame him for his stupidity and lack of knowledge.
My parents had taught me cooking since I was at the age of 6 because both of my parents' profession was a chef.
Even if I am 12 years old, I am confident about my cooking skills and I had intermediate knowledge about cooking.
My parents had pressured me to learn how to cook since both of them were expecting me to follow in their footsteps but I still liked to cook.
Unlucky for both of them, I had become a rebellious kid when I was 8 years old due to hating how they pressured me to learn what I had a hard time understanding.
I presented myself to my parents as a kid who listened to their every command but I did what I wanted to do behind their back even though I knew that they were against me about the thing that I wanted to do.
Yes, the thing that I had wanted to do was to watch animes, read mangas and novels, and play games.
I don't know how my parents found out that I was doing that behind their back and since they had found out about that, they punished me by confiscating my mobile phone and destroying my computer using a hammer.
My parents had even lectured me and had said "Watching animes, reading mangas, and playing games will only rot your d*mn brain! You wouldn't need it even once in your life! I am only strict to you so that you can achieve the things that your father and I had not achieved in our lives and for the sake of your future!"
But my parents were wrong about one thing, it was because of watching animes, reading mangas and playing games that I had survived in this world so I needed it in my life.
If I were given the chance to go back to Earth and meet my parents, then I could proudly slap their faces and proved to them that their teachings were wrong!
Even if Axel or the other heroes had decided not to inform me about this world or even taught me about magic and skills, I would be able to survive on my own.
And that was what Ferros lack, which was knowledge and the ability to utilize that knowledge.
Ferros was deluded that he could defeat everything just by destroying things.
I had seen that during our training in the training grounds, Ferros was one of the heroes who had slacked the most including Satomi.
I knew that Ferros was an otaku with a lot of knowledge about magic and techniques if he referenced it in his training but sadly, it was wasted since he doesn't put effort into improving his skill.
Just because of Ferros' newfound power, he became full of himself which lead to his demise.
Why would I need to save such a person?
Ferros was just a stranger that had the same homeworld that I had lived in. He was only an acquaintance and if not an acquaintance, a stranger.
Why would I waste my time to save him?
The huge green slime had not attacked me and was not even moving from its place.
The huge green slime wasn't even hostile to me so why should I bother it?
If it was Alex who had been defeated by that huge green slime, I would save him without any hesitation due to him and me having the same mentor.
The other heroes wouldn't blame me if I had not saved Ferros, right?
I'm just a 12-year-old who wanted to live in this world peacefully and enjoy what I had not enjoyed in my last life.
I wouldn't even care if the humans in this world died because of the demon lords.
I'm not a naive kid anymore. I was influenced by the knowledge I had obtained from animes and manga.
I had learned the dark side of this world including the rotten personality of humankind.
Humans were selfish beings who would do everything just to accomplish their goals.
The moment I had been summoned into this world, I had known that the humans in this world only thought about their well-being.
Why? It's because they didn't even spare a kid like me and forced me and the other heroes to wage war against the demon lords and save the world just for their sake.
The people in this world dare to ask an outsider like me and the other heroes to defeat an enemy that even they could not defeat?
That just shows how shameless they were!
That being said, I decided that I wouldn't interfere and save Ferros who should be inside the huge green slime.
The huge green slime's body wasn't transparent when I had arrived in this part of the forest so I wasn't sure if Ferros was alive inside its body or had already been digested.
Moreover, most of my mana had already been drained because of the attack that I had used to break the barrier within this forest just to arrive here.
So even if I fought against the huge green slime just to attempt in saving Ferros, I would only be risking my life in a losing battle, and not to mention I wasn't at my peak condition.
I would have second thoughts if I had regained most of my mana.
Because I had not regained most of my power, then I'll recover it as soon as possible.
I sat on the ground with my legs crossed and started to recover my mana by waiting for my mana to recover on its own via mana recovery rate.
I also absorbed the mana in the surroundings to hasten my mana recovery rate.
Whether I could recover my power in time to fight against the huge green slime and save Ferros or Ferros would die before I could save him in time was all up to fate.
"If Ferros has still not died yet, then he's not fated to die today. But maybe tomorrow or several months later."
I rapidly absorbed the mana in my surrounding to quickly recover my mana in time so that I wouldn't be at a disadvantage if I fought against the huge green slime.
In the end, I had decided to save Ferros if I recovered my power that would be strong enough to overpower the huge green slime.

Alex's PoV:
I was continuously being assaulted by dozens of the small black cat's shadow clones.
I had already adapted to their attacking speed so I was competent to deal with the shadow clones using my materialized mana sword even if it launched a sneak attack against me.
As I was fighting against the shadow clones of the small black cat, my power had no longer improved. Therefore, I decided to eliminate it.
I had not used my [Soul Search] skill to increase my power through battling against the small black cat but now that it was useless to drag my fight against it, I activated my [Soul Search] skill.
I detected the soul of the small black cat amongst the shadow clones so I went to it and killed it.
*Warning! One of the heroes is in danger! The emergency task would be considered a failure if the host failed to prevent a hero's death.*
