Chapter 11 – Isekai

Luscious green plains entered their vision. A world of swords and magic was awaiting them. The world surrounding them looked like your average fantasy world that people get isekai'd into.

There were several monsters roaming the horizon. Dinosaurs, skeletons, aliens, evil creatures, there was an abundance of any animal or creature here. Sure some of them may not look hostile, but an overwhelming majority of mobs in this game were hostile towards players.

The infamous monsters such as liches, hydra, griffins, deformed catastrophes that were barely under the classification of monster, and many more were in this world. There would not be a shortage of monsters anywhere you look.

Takei and Akari spawned at the safe beginning location. The spawn location had an anti-monster barrier surrounding it so they were completely safe.

Takei noticed he was holding an iron longsword in his hand. "What class did you pick? I picked a swordsman class."

Akari looked around her and saw a bow on the ground. "Ah, I chose an archer."

That made sense, the player could only use weapons that the class supported. In other words, a swordsman could not use a bow and vice versa.

Takei clicked on the inventory button and scammed through his small beginner inventory. "Looks like we start off with the typical beginner gear. Let's go farming for a bit and then go fight the first boss."

Akari looked confused at Takei's statement. "What? Farming? What does agriculture have to do with killing monsters?"

Takei had forgotten Akari's lack of video game playtime which had ended up making him use game slang that was foreign to the goddess. "Oh, uh... by farming I meant grinding levels and getting good gear."

Akari seemed delighted to learn of Takei's gaming slang. "Oh, okay. Let's start farming then!"

The two would then proceed to embark on a (maybe not so) long journey in this new magical world.

Three hours and 10 levels later, the duo consisting of the goddess and the loner were about to fight the first boss. Both of them were level 10 after playing for three hours and they had finally reached the minimum requirements necessary to take on the boss.

They were standing in front of the boss chamber with all of their gear and abilities ready.

Takei double checked with Akari. "Are you ready to go in?"

Akari affirmed his question. "As ready as I'll ever be!"

They looked at each other and nodded in agreement. Takei took the first step. "Alright, let's go."

"We did it!"

A large victorious cheer was heard throughout the whole house.

Takei thanked Akari for her hard work in the boss battle. "That was a hard fight, I'm lucky you were there."

Akari tried her best to deny his thanks. "No way! You did a great job, I didn't do much compared to you."

"Let's call it a team effort?"

Takei wanted her to feel good about defeating her first boss, so he tried to find a middle ground for both of them to agree on. It seemed Akari understood his intention with the question because she gave him a wry smile.

"Agreed, we did our best. The boss was defeated with both of our efforts!"

Takei was happy to see her beaming brightly.

She seems like a normal girl when she's laughing and having fun like this. I hope she can laugh more often and express her feelings more. Although it may be my selfish wish, I really want to keep this smile to myself.

As a sign of goodwill, Takei wanted to celebrate with her. "What do you say we have a celebration? I want to thank you for everything you've done for me."

She tried to deny him as fast as possible. "But, I haven't done that much for you?"

Takei seemed too resolute for her to give a good fight though. "No, I insist. We're going to have a party to thank you for your efforts."

The goddess could not find any way to reject Takei's earnest desire. She eventually gave in and decided to ask a more important question.

"Ah, is it alright for me to impose on you that much?"

Takei had to reassure her that his mom would probably consent. "It's fine, my mom adores you so she'll definitely agree."

As if she had been waiting at the door the whole time, Flora bursted into the room at a breakneck speed.

After seeing the closeness between the pair, Flora started to tease them. "It was getting so noisy up here, I thought I was getting grandchildren soon."

The loud noises were obviously from Takei and Akari playing Monster Slayer IV. They were getting too into the game and forgot their surroundings, resulting in a lot of loud noises that could be misinterpreted. Flora knew they were just innocently playing a game, but she wanted to tease them.

Takei was not very amused though. "What are you saying, Mom..."

However, Akari was struggling to even respond. She was fidgeting and looking away from the mother and son combo. The embarrassment and shame from that one remark had been enough to break her.

"Aww, it looks like my darling daughter is blushing! It's okay, come here. Mother is always here for you~"

Flora kept hammering in the fact and making Akari blush even harder.

Takei needed to stop her before Akari disappeared into thin air. "Cut it out for now, jeez..."

"Fine, only because Akari is being so cute though~"

Although Takei pleaded with her to stop, Flora was indirectly still on the offense.

"Hey Mom, I was wondering if we could hold a party for Akari. I wanted to thank her for everything she's done for me."

Flora began to get misty eyed at Takei's suggestion. "That sounds amazing, I'm so proud of my amazing son for thinking of this idea!"

"Yeah yeah, thanks Mom. I was wondering if we could hold it soon?"

Flora started pouting in contrast to her age. "Aww don't be so mean, Takei. It's fine though, I'll do anything for Akari! Matter of fact, I'll get started now~"

Akari was very elated to have another exciting event planned for the future.

She then gave Flora a smile worth a million dollars. "Thank you so much, Mother."

With a cheerful agreement from both sides, the future had a fun event on the horizon.

Akari's Affection Meter: 30 -> 31%

A small increase due to Takei being thoughtful once again. She really appreciates him giving his all for her.

A/N: I initially planned to write this chapter as a full-on RPG chapter that delved into their struggle to level up and beat the boss, but that idea was quickly scrapped after I realized how long that would take to write. I decided to focus on my main goal of building their relationship instead of writing a chapter that would've been irrelevant in the long run.

Tomorrow's chapter will begin the two chapter long celebratory event. Please look forward to it.
