On the way to school, Takei noticed a small change in the environment around them.
The trees and flowers were giving off a beautiful shine that made them almost look alive.
In the air, there was a smell of freshness that could not be found during any other season.
This atmosphere was one that solely belonged to the season known as spring.
With it now about to become the peak of spring, that also meant that the school year was about to end.
After the forthcoming spring break, Takei and Akari would enter their second year of high school and become sophomores.
Growing old with her doesn't sound like a bad deal to me...
Takei half-jokingly and half-seriously thought of him and Akari as an old married couple, which ended up putting him into a good mood after imagining the scenario.
As a result, he began to hum a happy tune as the duo entered the school yard.
Akari looked at him curiously due to his random humming, but quickly chalked it up to her boyfriend being a sporadic person.
He's cute when he's in a good mood.
Once they entered the school, the duo separated at the lockers due to their different homerooms.
Takei hoped that they would have the same homeroom when they went up a grade after spring break, but it was only wishful thinking on his part for now.
After giving her a little pat on the head as a goodbye, he headed towards his classroom.
As he sat down in his seat, there was already an odd fellow sitting behind him.
"Ohoho, did you have an eventful night yesterday?"
"Shut it."
Eiji was doing the typical and giving Takei a hard time about his relationship.
"Judging by that look on your face, you chickened out again, didn't you?"
"..."
Damn, he's got some good intuition.
Eiji had directly hit the dot with his assumption, which scared Takei just a tiny bit.
"Haaah, you're a handful to deal with."
"Can't argue with that."
Takei's best friend sighed as he realized how slow his friend was progressing in the relationship.
Having enough of being pitied, Takei tried to explain the situation.
"I'm waiting until a certain moment because I want our first time to be special. Don't worry about it, I'll make sure she feels like a princess."
In response to Takei's defense, Eiji just nodded his head in agreement.
"You've grown young one..."
"We're the same age?!"
As the banter between them resumed, a stern feminine voice appeared over the intercom.
"First-year Takei Tanaka from class 1-A, please go to the student council room. Once again, first-year Takei Tanaka from class 1-A, please go to the student council room."
Hearing his name over the intercom shook Takei to no end.
What does the student council want with me?
***
Arriving in front of the student council room, Takei took a long breath and carefully knocked on the door.
"Come in."
After a moment or two, the voice of someone powerful responded to him and invited him inside.
Opening the door, Takei found himself in another world.
Beforehand, he imagined the student council room to be an orderly place that upheld the dignity of this prestigious school, but his initial impression of the room was quickly shattered once he saw the room in-person.
There were stacks of papers everywhere the eye could see, trash bags full of junk food, and the floor was covered in random documents and binders.
It was a surprise to him that this room hadn't been reported to a fire marshal yet.
"Welcome, Takei Tanaka. It's very nice to meet you."
A white-haired girl sat behind a desk that was situated near the back of the room.
She had the face of a beautiful porcelain doll and an hourglass figure of a supermodel.
The uniform that she was wearing was just barely able to hold back her incredible bust from poking out.
You're a taken guy now, don't look! Your Akari is the most beautiful there is!
Reminding himself of the goddess by his side, Takei managed to clear his head of impure thoughts.
"I assume you're the student council president?"
"You assume right," the white-haired beauty said. "My name is Aurora Shirogane and I'm a second-year student."
Hearing the familiar last name made Takei do a double take.
"Shirogane...?"
"Ah, you might know my brother already. Hiro and I are half-siblings."
I'll have to talk to him later about this. Who knew that he was the student council president's brother?! Although, I think I never asked him about it so the fault probably lies with me...
"So, what did you call me in here for?"
Realizing that first period was about to start soon, Takei tried to speed up the process.
"Ambitious, are we? Well, I called you here because I..."
Taking a pause, Aurora left her desk and positioned herself in a bowing position in front of Takei.
"I need you to join the student council!"
"Absolutely not!"
"A denial that quick?! You're a monster!"
Takei instantly refused the invitation, to which Aurora replied in a childish manner.
As a result of his denial, Aurora was now rolling on the floor and bawling like a little girl.
"Waaah... this isn't fair! No one wants to... hic... help me out. Waaah..."
Seeing the disconnect between her usual calm and dignified demeanor and this newly discovered childish behavior immediately brought an idea to Takei's mind.
This is the contradiction between the usual appearance and the actions taken that Eiji always talks about, isn't it? I believe it's called "gap moe."
As the child in a fully grown woman's body continued to roll around on the ground in a hissy fit, Takei annoyingly sighed and scratched his head.
"Why does it have to be me?"
"You're the most qualified person to do it!"
"Qualified? Yeah, that sounds completely wrong."
"It's not, I swear! I did my research beforehand!"
Going back and forth, Takei struggled to shake her off.
"Oi, you're giving me a headache..."
"Good grades, diligent work ethic, subpar looks, gets along decently well with others, you're even dating the goddess... You're perfect for the job!"
"Nice try sneaking in that insult, I'm leaving now."
"Nooooo..."
Aurora began to pull on the bottom of Takei's pants to stop him from leaving.
"I'll do anything... I'll even let you do anything to my body! How about that? I'm pretty confident about my assets."
"Geh... now I'm really leaving."
"I take it back! I'm sorry!"
As their back-and-forth banter continued, Takei finally reached his breaking point.
"Fine, how about this? I'll pick up some odd jobs here and then to help you out. I won't officially become a member, but I don't mind helping out every once in a while."
Once she realized that Takei was trying to find a compromise with her, Aurora's expression immediately brightened.
"Mm! That's good enough for me! Let's trade contact info so we can talk more about this."
Switching back to her dignified ice queen mode, it was as if the childish girl from mere moments ago ceased to exist.
There are too many weirdos at this school...

New Idiot Couple Meter: 2 -> 4%
You're a weirdo too! Grr... he has only love in the brain and doesn't know it...
Serious-san: I feel bad for you Author-san...
Sugar-chan: Yep, loneliness can end up killing you, y'know?
Author-san: ...
A/N: As it is obvious by my poor naming sense, I will be taking suggestions for what the next meter will be called. Only prerequisite is that it needs "idiot couple" in the name.
