Chapter 152 – Little Sister Attack

Since there were still a few days before the next school year started, Takei and Akari were hard at work unpacking everything.

To be more specific, it was mainly Takei still unpacking since Akari had already finished before him at an astonishing speed.

Airi briefly welcomed them back and headed towards the small town they were just at, in order to greet her grandparents that were waiting.

She had just barely finished with the stuff she needed to do, which is why it took her so long to visit them.

It was decided for her to stay over there for a couple days until school started up again.

Surely, Ayame and Akihiko would be happy to have another one of their grandchildren over, since they would be lonely after Takei and Akari left.

At the current moment, Takei was unpacking his belongings in his room while Akari was laying on his bed reading some manga.

"Does the main heroine get with the protagonist?" Akari asked.

Takei nodded, while hanging up his clothes. "Yeah, they get married and have kids in the end."

"Haaah... Thank the heavens she got with him," Akari sighed. "She was trying really hard so I was really rooting for her."

Neither of them were too stingy with spoilers, so they both liked knowing what happens at the end of the series.

The reasoning behind this was because neither of them wanted to start a series with a bad or unsatisfying ending.

As they were spending the day in a good and light manner, the doorbell rang and alerted them to a visitor.

"I'll get that," he told Akari.

Takei stopped what he was doing and went downstairs to see who it was that rang the doorbell.

He slowly opened the door to reveal a familiar woman and her young daughter.

"Big brother!" The little girl yelled.

The young girl bursted forward and tackled Takei which dealt a large amount of damage to his stomach.

"Urgh... Shiori, you're killing big bro here," Takei groaned.

The little girl was none other than the young girl named Shiori that Takei would often meet on his way to school.

"Mmmm... You were gone for so long," Shiori complained. "I need to fill up on my big brotherium!"

Shiori's mom was also here with a wry smile on her face as she watched the heartwarming scene.

"I'm sorry about her. You've been on vacation for quite a while, so she misses you a lot," Shiori's mom explained. "That's why we came over to greet you when we heard the news that you were back."

Takei nodded in understanding. "Ah, so that was why."

"Big bro, can I spend the day with you?" Shiori asked, with puppy eyes and a pleading look on her face.

Her mother looked at her with a slightly cramped expression. "Shiori, we shouldn't be intruding on others without much notice. You promised me that we were only going over to visit today, remember?"

"Uuuuu... I know, but..." Shiori sadly muttered. "I really want to have fun with big bro today."

Seeing that desperate face and puppy eyes made Takei feel the need to keep a smile on this little girl's face. "Um, Akari and I aren't doing much today, so you're welcome to hang out with us if you want?"

Hearing that, Shiori's expression immediately brightened up. "Please, Mom? Can I?"

It seemed that her mother was no different than Takei when it came to a little girl's smile.

"Okay, that's fine with me if Takei is fine with it," Shiori's mother agreed. "Just make sure to be a good girl."

"Yayyy!" Shiori jumped in excitement. "Thanks, Mom!"

With both Takei and her mother's agreement, Shiori was very happy to be able to spend the day with Takei.

Her mother left shortly after telling Takei about when to take Shiori home and some things to look out for when taking care of her.

After Shiori's mother left, Takei brought Shiori to his room.

Akari was engrossed in the finale for the first season of this anime she was watching, but she paused the anime once she saw that Shiori had shown up. "Oh hello, Shiori! Big sis missed you lots~"

"Big sis! I missed you a lot as well!" Shiori yelled, as she quickly tottered over to where Akari was.

Since Akari was snugly resting under the blankets, Shiori slid under the blanket and gave Akari a big hug.

Once they were done reuniting, Shiori looked at the television wondering what show Akari was so engrossed in.

"What show are you watching?" Shiori asked.

"The show is called, The Outlier At Magic High. It's about a boy with strong powers and an eventful past that enrolls into a magic high school with his sister," Akari explained. "I'm only on the finale for the first season, but it's really amazing so far."

"Oh, I've watched a little bit of that show! I'm on the last episode of season one as well," Shiori happily replied. "Can I watch the finale with you?"

Hearing her sheer enthusiasm, Akari was happy to meet a comrade-in-arms. "Of course! Let's have a watch party together and have Takei cater for the snacks!"

"Oi, I'm not a butler," Takei objected.

"Pretty please?" Akari asked, while batting her eyes.

Akari knew that Takei was weak to her pleading, so she used it to her advantage.

"Fine," Takei sighed. "I'll bring the snacks."

Akari cheerfully clapped her hands. "Yay~ Thanks in advance!"

Even though Takei was acting displeased on the outside, he was happy to see both Akari and Shiori in a good mood.

Both of them were important to him in one way or another, so it would do him good to keep them happy.

As he thought about this while grabbing some snacks and tea from his pantry, Takei realized that there wasn't much groceries or ingredients to use for dinner later since they had been gone from the house for a long time.

We're probably going to have to go out to get some food later, which means I should probably find some decently nice clothing to wear for later.
