Chapter 158 – Idiot Leader

Even with the many changes and surprises that the new school year had pounced on Takei, the rest of the school day continued slowly and leisurely.

Since the first day only consisted of introductions between teachers and students, the school day would end early today due to the shortened classes.

"I'll be heading off then," Takei waved goodbye to everyone.

Most of his friend group were heading out for an afternoon session of fun, but he had promised to meet Aurora after school ended.

All of his friends waved goodbye back and left, but Akari decided to run up and cling onto Takei without loosening her grip at all.

"W-what's going on with you?" Takei stammered. "We're in public..."

"Mou... you're an idiot sometimes," Akari murmured. "You're going to rendezvous with another girl even though your cute girlfriend is right here?"

Takei bitterly smiled at how correct and logical Akari was being. "It's just something related to school though? The only girl for me is you. You know that, right?"

He knew exactly what to say to soothe Akari's anxieties, but there were some unforeseen side effects that he hadn't foreseen.

"You're too unfair, idiot..." Akari mumbled.

Akari dug her face into Takei's chest and hid her flushed expression from his eyes.

Although this was a major loss in Takei's opinion, he couldn't help but smile at the cute creature that he was hugging.

"Do you want to come with me then?" He asked.

Hearing that Takei invited her to go on an errand with him, Akari immediately looked up at Takei with sparkles in her eyes. "Yes, please!"

With the decision finalized, Takei and Akari headed towards the student council room.

When they got there, Takei lightly knocked on the door. "It's Takei, I'm here to see the president."

In response, an elegant and serious voice permeated the door and invited him inside. "Come in."

Opening the door, Takei and Akari stepped inside to witness... hell.

"Get the papers ready! The advisor of that club is going to have my head if those papers aren't ready yet!"

"Where's the signatures?! We need more personnel on this project! Wait, there's no one else that can help us out?!"

"Arghh, why are there so many deadlines to be met even though the school year had just started?!"

A cacophony of voices could be heard from the several boys and girls that were flying around the room while working on various tasks.

The scene reminded Takei of a black company where they would force their employees into unreasonable working conditions, but he would keep quiet for the meantime.

"I've been waiting for you," a crystal-clear and beautiful voice greeted him.

Making sure to dodge all of the papers and people flying around the room, Takei and Akari made their way to the two seats in front of the desk of the student council president.

Although Aurora's voice seemed to suggest that she was fine and at one hundred percent, the eye bags under her eyes and dark circles around her eyes suggested something different.

"Please sit down, we have much to talk about," Aurora said, with an impeccable smile.

Before sitting down, Takei needed to see if Aurora was okay with Akari being here. "Is it okay that I brought Akari along?"

"It's fine, the more the merrier," Aurora affirmed.

Once both Takei and Akari were seated, Aurora began to explain the situation to them. "The student council is in a very unstable state and we are in a lot of trouble..."

"That trouble being?" Takei asked.

"Lack of personnel," Aurora grimly stated. "We only have a few members left because a lot of our members have been leaving in droves."

Indeed, losing capable hands was a big problem for any group or company trying to accomplish something.

It was a truly serious problem that needed to be remedied right away.

Aurora knew this, which is why she decided to take action. "I called you in today because I need your brains to help me think of a solution. I can't have any more people leaving."

Since Takei felt pity for her, he knew that he needed to find a solution as fast as possible.

Before he could think of anything, Akari tapped his shoulder and leaned in to whisper in his ear. "Do you think that maybe the working conditions are the problem for why people are leaving? I hear a lot of people quit their jobs because of poor working conditions."

What Akari said was a very plausible theory, so Takei decided to test that theory.

He turned towards a girl that was working nearby and asked her a question. "How long have you been working?"

"Since I got here this morning at 8 a.m." the girl replied.

"When was your last break?" Takei asked.

"Break? What's that?" The girl confusedly replied.

"..." Takei was speechless.

Turning back towards Aurora, he squinted his eyes in displeasure. "Slavedriver..."

"What?" Aurora responded, without an ounce of realization of what she had been doing.

Takei's eyes squinted even harder. "Give your employees some breaks. Take care of them. Limit their working hours in a day. Stop working them to the bone, you goddamn sadist!"

After some heated scolding from Takei, Aurora was thoroughly educated on how to become a better boss to her employees.

Akari had to hold him back from going all out, since Aurora looked like she was about to cry after he had finished scolding her.

In the end, the work environment of the student council significantly improved due to the actions of a good samaritan who was willing to yell at the idiot leader of the student council.
