"I am coming up to Moganshan today. I will shift my meetings to another day and leave this afternoon instead of evening. And I don't want to hear your arguments. I just miss you too damn much. You have no idea what it does to me when Tang tries to stake his claim on you so boldly. I know that you aren't ready for my possessiveness. I also know that this is probably the worst time to say it out loud but YOU OWN MY HEART and that it is right here waiting for you to accept it," his voice trembled with unspent passion.
She was caught totally unprepared for this sudden admission of his naked emotions.
"I…that is…uh…" she struggled to get some words out.
He drew a deep breath and said, "I'll see you in a few hours."
Jia Li put down the phone and tried to calm her galloping heart. Wei's words were making her palpitate. She couldn't decide whether it was because she was afraid of his impending arrival or excited about it. And that confusion itself was scaring her. All these months of being looked after and gently wooed by Wei, she had probably been lulled into a bubble of serene comfort around him.
But this aggressive, passionate side was beginning to affect her, despite all the chaos surrounding them. He was forcing her to think about him even while she was overwhelmed with her work and Tang's presence. While doing the accounts, she kept seeing his notations on the side which he had made for her reference and probably that made her miss him and give him a call. After acknowledging this fact, she suddenly felt as if a weight had been lifted from her shoulders. With a spring in her step, she went back to her cabin.
Shanghai Airport
"You still haven't told me what is it that you intend to do. After all I am the one who told you about it. It's only fair that I am privy to the entire plan. Also, you promised me that no harm would come to Tang," Mei Zhen spoke authoritatively to Fu.
They had just landed straight from Beijing. After telling her father that she had finished surveying the hotel and that she wanted to go back early, both Fu and she had flown back with the intention to go to Moganshan immediately.
"It is in your own interest if you don't know what I am planning. I don't think it's a good idea for you to come along with me to Moganshan. This is between Jia Li and me and I don't want any interference from anyone else. As for your husband, you deal with him once he is back to Shanghai," he replied coldly.
Ever since the previous night's conversation, Fu's demeanour had undergone a complete change. After the initial bit, where he had portrayed himself to be congenial and subservient, he had been the exact opposite since. His dismissive manner of addressing her was becoming more and more intolerable. And Mei Zhen didn't trust him enough to leave the matters entirely in his hands. She knew that he held Tang responsible for his own marriage's demise, which is why she intended to be present when he arrived at Moganshan.
"Ok, as you wish. I will wait for your call," she lied to him with a shrug.
Fu felt that the fire inside him would consume the entire world and still wouldn't be satiated. He wanted to get rid of the annoying woman next to him as soon as he could before concentrating on the next step. And how dare she dictate terms to him of what he could and couldn't do!
Was she really that naïve to believe his promise that he wouldn't punish Xie Tang for his misdeeds. After all, it was entirely his fault that all of them were in this mess. He deserved the utmost humiliation and pain. Exiting the airport, he sought a rental car to take him up to Moganshan but before that he wanted to pick up a few essentials…
"What do you mean he is coming over? Who asked him to come?" Tang scowled fiercely when Jia Li told him about Wei's arrival that evening.
She replied, "he is my boss. I can't ask him as to why is he coming?"
"But doesn't he normally make a trip here on the weekend? Wasn't he here just two days ago anyways? What is it with such frequent visits? I wonder whether he is managing to do any work in Shanghai or simply packing and unpacking from his trips here," he grumbled meanly.
Tang had specifically asked Ethan and Chu not to join them for dinner tonight. Despite one hand in cast, he wanted to whip up a special meal at home for just the two of them.
