"Mr. Wang, why are you here?" Li Yichen was completely thrown off the curve looking at his daughter walk hand-in-hand with Junior Wang.
"I know that I turned up unannounced but that's quite a welcome," Wei arched his eyebrow and reacted to Mr. Li's rude words.
Mr. Li coloured at the implication and muttered his apologies. Welcoming him inside, he kept frowning at the held hands, enough for his daughter to become aware of it and pull hers away quickly.
Li Yichen didn't know what to make of Wang Wei's presence. Zhu Cheng who had been waiting in his father in-law's study, came out to see what was taking so long. He had heard a car turn in andwaited patiently while his angry father in-law had walked out to get Sam straight into the room.
He was also taken aback when he saw the Wang heir standing there, his stance protective towards Samantha. Due to her sensitive condition, the family had decided to not involve Yimei into today's confrontation but Grandma Li and Mrs. Li were both present. They hadn't been informed of what had transpired in the past two days because Li Yichen wanted to give Sam a chance to walk out of the place without maligning her name again.
But he was sure that if she tried to backtrack from signing of the papers, he would bring her true colours in front of the family.
"Mr. Wang, it's a pleasure to welcome you to our house. I am afraid we didn't know that you would be joining us this evening. Please forgive us in our lack of hospitality," Zhu Cheng extended a warm words towards him, after seeing his father in-law standing there in uncertainty.
"There is no need to stand on ceremony. I am here with Sam. Let's get down to business, shall we?" he replied in a brusque manner.
Both the elder ladies looked at Li Yichen in confusion. All he had told them was that Sam wanted to share something important with all of them and hence was coming home this evening. But the undercurrents in the room seemed to suggest something else.
Samantha looked at Wei, as if to draw strength and began speaking, "Mr. Li, you came to my cabin this morning and showed me some evidence which pointed towards my conspiracy to seduce my brother in-law and break my sister's marriage. You had a video and few graphic images with you. Is that correct?"
Loud gasps could be heard from Mrs. Li. She suddenly had a feeling of Déjà vu. Same room, same people, same circumstances.
At her father's stiff nod, Samantha continued speaking, "now it is my turn to show you some things in return. Kindly allow me to do so."
Without waiting for his consent, she brought out her laptop and plugged in Wei's phone with it.
Looking at the tableau, Zhu Cheng tried to intervene.
"Uh, Sam.. you misunderstood me. Look, I have no intention of bringing up what has happened. I understand how tough can it be sometimes to let go of someone whom you have loved for all these years. And finding that person in front of you suddenly may make you lose control. I tried telling father also the same thing. I requested him to try and see it from your point of view but I guess he said some harsh things to you this morning. I apologise on his behalf. Also, we have a guest amongst us here. Let's talk about this another time," he said in an apologetic way.
Wei had been standing silently till now but at Zhu Cheng's words, he threw his head back and laughed.
"Have you ever considered trying for the movies? You are quite good," he said.
Cheng's nostrils flared at the insulting implication but he held back his reaction. He didn't want to antagonise the guy with whom he was going to enter into a partnership in the near future.
"Wait till I become a director in the company. I will show you what is my real skill," he thought to himself, savagely.
Li Yichen couldn't hold back anymore and said, "Mr. Wang, we have gathered here to discuss our family's internal matter. Could we please host you another day?"
"He is here on my request. He is aware of the entire matter and has been the only one who believed me, despite being a near stranger," Sam said, hurt surfacing in her voice.
"Or maybe he is a stranger, hence you managed to fool him," her father shot back.
"That's enough, Li Yichen. I think I would like to see and hear what Li Sam has to tell us before using any more harsh words," his mother interrupted his tirade.
Sam gave her grandmother a grateful look and placed the laptop at an elevated level where everyone could see it clearly.
