When Sam had made the decision to confront the green eyed woman, she convinced herself that she was doing it to look out for Wei's interest rather than out of any sort of jealousy.
She owed him at least this much after all that he had done for her. Also, she had seen first-hand what the woman had reduced him to, that time in London. Nobody needed to tell her. She knew it was her who had been responsible. Sam wasn't going to let anyone play with Wei's emotions or use him. She wouldn't let her.
"You see, it is easy for someone who looks like you to have men fall for you all the time. But do you care about what happens to them post your reject them or get bored of them?" Sam's voice had risen by few octaves.
Jia Li sat there unperturbed. In fact, she even dared to crack a smile too.
Raising her eyebrow, she asked, "has Wei claimed that I am a heartless flirt?"
Sam shook her head vehemently and replied "he is too kind to ever bad mouth anyone he has a soft corner for. But I can see it for myself. You broke his heart earlier and now you want him back. It's not fair to play with his emotions like this."
Jia Li had wanted to probe the situation a little bit before reaching any conclusions. But listening to her impassioned words, she realised that this lovely fireball was enamoured with her friend.
"It's been long since I got an opportunity to employ my match making skills. Hope I am not too rusty," she thought to herself with a smirk.
"Well, if you are being blunt, I would afford you the same courtesy. You are right. I am here to use Wei for my purpose. Earlier I thought I wouldn't need him so I walked away but now I do. So I patched up with him just now. Does that satisfy your curiosity?" Jia Li said with a causal air.
Sam got so riled up that she was worried that she would end up hitting the woman in front of her.
'How dare you say that so callously? Do you have no shame? You know what, I won't let you use him. I will ensure that he sees your real face," she said, her nostrils flared in anger.
"Really? And why should he listen to you instead of me? Who are you, anyways?" Jia Li continued using a dismissive tone.
"I am the woman who has shared his bed every night for the past few weeks. Now what do you have to say about it?" Sam fibbed, crossing her fingers that her lie doesn't get caught.
Jia Li felt her eyebrows rise up and touch her forehead.
"Wang Wei, you bastard. You gave me sleepless nights of guilt over your broken heart. And here you were indulging in steamy hot lovemaking. Wait till I see you next," Jia Li muttered to herself.
"So what if you shared his bed. I am back now and no one can replace me in his life," with that she got up and moved out of Sam's cabin.
Samantha couldn't believe the nerve of the woman. She had remained unaffected by the fact that her guy slept with someone else recently.
"She definitely is a ruthless, gold digger and I won't let her come anywhere near Wei, not even over my dead body," she swore viciously.
Throwing caution to wind, she stormed into Wei's room where he was on a call. Looking at her belligerent expression, he wrapped up the conversation hastily and got up from his seat.
"All well? Has something happened again?" he asked, his thoughts immediately on Zhu Cheng.
"Do you trust me?" she asked him, her eyes searching his.
Wei was taken aback by the intensity behind her words and her expression.
"Uh, sure I do. But what has happened?" he repeated.
"Then if I tell you something about a person you hold close to your heart, would you believe me?" she asked further.
Wei didn't know how to reply to her cryptic query. Guiding her towards the chair, he made her sit down and gave her a glass of water.
"Take a deep breath and then tell me. I can't answer your question till the time I don't understand it," he said patiently.
"It seems that today is my day to placate one woman after another," he thought wryly.
"Break off your relation with that woman. She is not the right partner for you," Sam said.
Wei looked at her in surprise and asked, "are you talking about Jia Li? How do you know that she is my partner?"
Samantha snorted, "I am not blind. I saw the two of you err, that is… I saw you guys together, earlier."
