Formidable. There wasn't a single person who didn't have this opinion toward Ci-ci. Commoner or not, this young man was a talent not to be underestimated. Maybe in the real world, his lack of backing would be his downfall. However, here, for what seemed like an inconsequential game, he was an opponent as difficult to conquer as West Continent's tallest mountain.
Roman grit his teeth. While others were thinking of the main rule changes, he was completely focused on Ci-ci's last words: 'In order to stop the bride and groom from cheating, we can randomly choose someone in the audience to read the card.'
Even if he decided to ignore all pretenses and start and outright war with his younger brother, could he really involve these guests here? What if Ci-ci's randomly chosen individual was of high stature? Such a person would definitely be intelligent. If they were forced to read something derogatory and disgusting before so many individuals, it wouldn't be Ci-ci that they'd blame, they'd turn their anger toward him!
Who here couldn't tell that he had malicious intentions by now? Only a child or a fool wouldn't understand this!

Crash! Bang!
Roman unleashed his fury on the Cox family living room, knocking over expensive vases, kicking chairs and tables out of place, even the couch cushions weren't safe, flinging across the room with surprising acceleration to the point of leaving dents in the wall.
Obviously, by now, the engagement party had ended. With Ci-ci's counterattack, there simply wasn't time to take other measures. Although Roman could have forced the situation with various other means, due to the important guests who were in attendance, he didn't want to take the risk on a half-baked plan. In the end, he could only allow the small rite of passage to end in peace.
His original purpose was simple. All he wanted to do was embarrass Isabella to the point where the Patterson family no longer had the face to attach themselves to their sub-pillar clan. It should have been easy. From the beginning, he had made contingencies in accordance to his younger brother's way of thinking, not realizing that Dalton would somehow gain a formidable ally in the final moments.

The truth was that Roman had even allowed Dalton a minor win just to lull him into a false sense of security. Everything was purpose! Yet they failed!
It might seem ridiculous that such a game could bring the potential end of a marriage, but that was only if one didn't know the plan Roman had had.
Before Isabella fell for Dalton and they began dating, Isabella had been involved with not one, but two men. Of course, there wasn't anything shady about this. West Continent was a modern society, it wasn't rare for women to have experience dating before choosing their husband.
However, aristocratic society was highly judgemental!
One of these men was Jason Gravelle, the colleague of both Isabella and Ci-ci. It could be said that had Ci-ci known this earlier, he wouldn't have been so surprised by the fact that he hadn't seen any signs of Jason from beginning to end.
This said, if it was just Jason, even their society wouldn't have been so uppity to care. The real issue was that the second young man was also from a sub-pillar family! In fact, this sub-pillar family was one Ci-ci had already been entangled with in more ways than one: The Alleman family!
One didn't need to think much to understand the oddity. Isabella, a woman who was from a completely average upper middle-class family had attracted not one, but two sub-pillar family males? She was a beauty, true, but which young master hadn't played with dozens of women of her caliber by now? It wasn't as though the rich had exclusive rights to good looks.
It was this doubt that Roman wanted to seed. He wanted to embarrass Isabella and her family, to label her as nothing more than a whore and a gold digger. If this sort of stain was attached to his elder brother, one could imagine the consequences. To actually have the audacity to betroth yourself to such a lowly woman… Roman would be able to guarantee his younger brother's inability to fight for the Clan's heir seat.
"Roman, it's not so bad that it ended this way. Dalton has dealt himself a blow in a way. It would be difficult for your parents to give him your title because it would be the same as handing the Clan Mistress role to that whore. He's essentially crippled himself. Your actions would have been the final nail, but it's not wholly necessary."
One of the four young heirs that Roman called friend spoke. While Roman threw his tantrum, the four of them had been leisurely sitting at the dining room table just across. They had long since become used to the temper of this friend of theirs. None seemed to bat an eye at the fact the former Head Butler lay in his own pool of blood just a few meters from them.
This said, there were two of them who were on the cusp of being just as angered as Roman. The first was obvious: Aden Frizwauld. But the second wasn't obvious until his last name was learned: Cadan Alleman. It was none other than he who had once had a relationship with Isabella and it was he that Roman planned to make use of during the memories game. Also, he was Gale Alleman's elder brother, however unlike Roman, Cadan had long since lost his heir position to his second born sibling.
"You're one to talk, Baldrick. Your Rai family is facing the consequences of not stamping out the problem at the root. Now you want me to make the same mistake?"
Baldrick shrugged. "My Great Aunt Alice might have split off from the family and grown too powerful to easily deal with now, but she's no real threat. She only has symbolic power due to her faint connection with the Grimaldi family."
"Faint connection?" Roman sneered. "Medical Saint Grimaldi practically treats Dr. Rai like his own daughter. You can fool yourselves, but you can't fool me."
"Fuck your problems, it's this Lucius Grant that needs to be dealt with." One of the five spoke through gritted teeth, but none of them needed to look over to know that it was Aden who had spoken. Aside from Cadan and Roman, he was likely the one who took the worst slap in the face today.
The truth was that Cadan never loved Isabella, he just thought she would be a nice toy. It was just too bad Isabella's intuition also told her this, causing her to cut off their relationship abruptly. So, it couldn't be said that he had suffered any real loss, he was simply being a petty and disgusting human being, unwilling to allow Isabella her happiness after she rejected him.
However, Aden was different. His emotions stemmed from several months back and even involved a severe weakening of his Frizwauld family.
Back when Ci-ci first met Elizabeth, the reason she didn't have an adverse even to his flirting was because she was aware of all the good deeds he had done. Well, to Aden, these "good deeds" were nothing less than death sentences for his family!
His Frizwauld Clan had once been among the top four sub-pillar families, but after Ci-ci crippled their electrical company businesses in York Province, their capital had taken a severe hit. Some even wanted to change the title of top four to top three now! Even that bastard Amancio who was nothing more than a debauchee actually had the audacity to look down on him! A true heir!
Aden wanted nothing more than to rip Ci-ci apart. Or rather, in his mind, to end the person that was Lucius Grant.
Of course, Aden hated Ci-ci Bell as well. This was because the technology that all of this stemmed from originated with him. But, if it hadn't been for Lucius Grant, they would have won their court case!
Cadan smiled crookedly at Aden's words.
"If it's revenge against Lucius Grant you want… My Alleman family is working on something very interesting in Algood City… I no longer have an interest in competing for the young heir title, my younger brother is better than me through and through. However, I still want some influence in the family so that he can't do with me as he pleases in the future. So…" Cadan's eyes narrowed. "How 'bout it?"
