Chapter 91 - Madness Of Trials: Trial Of Illusion, Greatest Fear

Amelia stood before her uncle, A man who stared at her with greed evident in his purple-tinted eyes, something unique to the Maeth clan as they usually have blue eyes.

His blue hair failed to cover his stare and his threatening aura his buff body only served to strengthen, not like he tried to hide it in the first place.

‘Uncle Odon.’ She thought.

“My dear niece.” He began in a gruff voice.

“Did you think that you could escape your fate?”

“How cruel.”

“Have you forgotten Amelia; this is the only way you can repay the clan for all these years.”

“We took care of you.”

“Sheltered you.”

“Made you who you are today.”

“And in return, we only ask for one thing.”

“Yet you reject it.”

“How cruel of you, You ungrateful Sw~.”

“At least, now you have come to your senses, we can proceed to the Altar.”

All of a sudden, Amelia’s perspective of the space changes. She now finds herself on a wedding altar in the courtyard of the Maeth Clan, Before the Altar was a seemingly endless set of benches that were filled with the members of her clan. Strangely, they all had a wide smile of disdain on their faces.

Amelia felt herself turn to face the groom. When she saw him, her soul almost sprung out of her body for the groom had no face, eyes, mouth, brows, or lashes.

The event sets into motion when her uncle materialized before her in a priest grab.

“Do you _ _ take Amelia Maeth as your lovely wedded wife?” He spoke.

It nodded.

Odon Maeth's wide smile went even further, after that he turned to Amelia.

“Do you Amelia Maeth take _ _ as your lovely wedded husband.”

Amelia bit by bit brought her lips together and mouthed, “N- Yes.”

Her eyes widened, taken aback by her inability to refuse. At that moment an odd glint caught her eye, when Amelia set her focus on it, she saw a string that bonded her to her uncle. Now, she knew that she had no control over her decision anymore.

By her consent, the wedding progressed like any normal wedding. Afterward, Amelia was in a bedroom with the faceless man naked above her.

She knew what is about to happen

But resist she did not

[AN: Words are omitted here.]

/////The Next Day/////

Amelia awoke the next day feeling sore all around. As she opened her eyes, the first thing she saw was the faceless man above her.

“Why didn’t you resist?” It asked.

“Why didn’t you cower”

“Why didn’t you FEAR!”

Amelia simply stared at it without emotion, “…”

“What you have shown me.” She began without hurry.

“Is what I see every time, I close my eyes.”

“I’m already used to your presence.”

“Fear.”

“…”

“I guess so.”

From nowhere, she hears the sound of broken glass and again finds herself in the dark expanse of emptiness

“I can move my body again.” She said as she clenched her fist, still no emotion on her face as she remembered what she went through.

Out of the blue, two murky shapes came into being. Amelia at once drew out her sword and pointed at the figures.

However, when the two figures fully came to form the shape and face of two Migas that were all too familiar to Amelia, she let go of her sword in shock.

The first murky figure came to form a buff figure standing at 6’ 2’’ tall, this fair-skinned man while seeming threatening had a soft smile. His long face, softly shaped jaw, heavy-lidded sky-blue eyes, gave him the characteristics of a handsome man.

The second murky figure came to form a slightly well-endowed, fair-skinned woman of a lean figure standing at 5’ 4 tall. Her black hair with red tips and bluish green eyes gave her a unique yet feel about herself. She stared at Amelia with a smile full of love.

“Mother, Father.” She whispered in shock.

/////Outside The Illusion, 3 Hours Later/////

“System, how long has this been?”

[3 Hours.]

“That’s too long, don’t you think?”

[For someone of her caliber to break out of supposedly the weakest illusion of a Deus…. Maybe. I am not too sure.]

“You know, are you sure you’re a system? Compared to the other systems I’ve read about. You’re kind of sus.”

[Was that meme?]

“… No,” Vincent said guiltily.

[That was a meme!]

“I have no idea… what you are saying.”

[You!]

“I should check on Amelia,” Vincent said at once and moved towards her

“Do you think I can peek into the illusion?” He asked the system.

[Perhaps, it's surely within the capability of the skill, but I am not sure that you are proficient enough to do it]

“True, I haven’t trained for it… Well, there’s no harm in trying.”

Vincent put forward his hand and placed it upon Amelia's forehead. Almost in an instant, he could feel something special, similar to the link he felt when the Illusion had first tried to pull him in.

He held onto that feeling which made a visualization of a door appear in his mind.

“A door? But I don’t want to go in, I only need to peak”.

With that thought, the door changed into an open window. Vincent controlled himself, Astral or Mental, he didn’t know. But he controlled whatever self he was to peek over the window and into Amelia Illusion.

Here he saw a cute little blue-haired girl around the age of 6 happily conversing and eating in a simple, warm-themed dining room with 2 adults who seemed to be her parents.

“So, this is her greatest desire. Her parents.”

As he said that, A stream of knowledge flowed into his mind, causing him to twitch his head in discomfort.

“So, her parents died when she was young.”

“That’s why this is her greatest desire, an eternal world where her parents are alive.”

“Wait! How did I know this? She never told me about her parents before.”

‘Is it possible that the illusion contains a sub ability of mind-reading? … That would make sense, As how is an Illusion able to show your deepest fears and desires if it doesn’t know, it has to read your memories to find it then work around it.”

“Nevertheless, the question is why can I read her memories… Is it because of my illusion proficiency? Through controlling this illusion that has read her memories, I may be also able to read her memories, and perhaps even manipulate them.”

“However, I shouldn’t dive into that field without sufficient skill or knowledge.”

“For now, this is enough.”

Vincent again stretched out his hand towards the illusion.

“I know that you want to stay in this illusion forever, Amelia, to live out in this paradise that you have made for yourself.”

“But from a person who has also experienced the pain of losing their parents, I can tell you that this may be what you want but not what you need.”

“And I’m sorry that I have to take this away from you.”

‘I’ll have to be careful with this, I’ve already displayed too many of my cards.”

///// In The Illusion Space /////

Amelia, who was enjoying a serving of pancakes and enjoying her time with her parents out of the blue, felt a tug on herself.

“Mmh.” She hummed with her eyebrows raised, she gazed behind her to see what was tugging at her, and it was a golden door that had miraculously taken the place of the wooden door that was there before.

Amelia despite this ignored this blatant sign and focused back on her parents. But she became aware that they were not moving and instead focused on the door.

“Mum, Dad?”

“…”

“Amelia… You don’t belong here.” Her father began in a matter-of-fact voice.

He looked at her with regret and sadness on his face, “My daughter, you are a strong girl. A very… very strong girl, and now you have grown up to become an even stronger woman. Truthfully, I wish I could spend all the time with you, but I wish even more that you strive forward and fully explore the potential that I see in you.”

“Holding you here will only take you backward, Amelia, you have to move forward, Snowflake.”

“D~Dad, I don’t.” She stuttered before she was interrupted. “Listen to your father!” Her mother scolded her.

“We are only doing the best for you, and the best for you is not here.” She said she walked to Amelia and placed her palm upon her cheek, caressing it with love

“My dear daughter, go out there and make us proud.”

Amelia's eyes let out tears as she listened to her parents. She cried silently, not voicing out a word of disagreement as got up from her seat and walked towards the door, with each step she took she aged until when she was at the door, and she looked like her normal self again.

Amelia turned back to her parents, who smiled at her encouragingly. “I love you.” She spoke.

“We love you too.” Her parents replied.

Amelia nodded and went through the gold door, back into reality.

Vincent smiled at this and also began to pull himself into reality when all of a sudden, he felt the link locked and himself stuck, unable to move.

“So, you’re the intruder.” He heard a voice to his side, Vincent immediately turned towards the voice in surprise and came face to face with a red-head, Amelia’s mother, smiling at him.

“Don’t be alarmed, I’m not here to harm you. Rather, I even want to thank you.”

“Unknowingly or knowingly, you have protected my daughter more than any other person has in her life. Even now you are protecting her even if it counts as manipulation.”

“I expect this much from a prospective Son-In-Law.” She said motherly.

“However, I’ll have to cut it short here. Your benefactor is already pulling you out.”, She said as Vincent’s form became translucent.

“Do me a favor?”

“In the future, Amelia would be put into more danger than she may be able to handle.”

“If and when you can. Please protect my daughter. I'll appreciate it.”

Vincent did not want to make any promise of such, nonetheless, he nodded in response and then disappeared from the space after that, leaving the woman alone.

“My Son-In-Law seems to have such a bright future. As expected of my daughter.” She said with a charming laugh as she too also disappeared from this dark place.
