13 Chapter 12

On our way back, I noticed that he looking at me "So Buford told me about your powers, we still haven't discussed them" he told me.

I look back at him "It's different to know the dreams are not just dreams, and they are the future, but I adapt quickly. Is that why you avoid touching me?" he looks a little sheepish and nods.

"Yeah I'm not sure I want to know anything, or have you know my next move" he looks at me with a serious face. What does that mean? We take a shortcut through an alley, it's so late no one is really out and about.

I stop completely with that sense of danger again, and I can only get out Remey's name before the hooded figure pops up a few feet in front of us. Coiled in a defensive stance, an orangish glow orb in his hands, looking straight at me.

Remey jumps in front of me with a protective stance, then the air starts whipping all around us forming a sort of barrier between us and the hooded figure. "Who are you? What do you want from us?" Remey asked.

I'm still staring at the hooded figure and I actually get a good look at his face this time, white as a ghost, dark spots below his eyes, sunken cheeks, and his lips are.... looking closer, his lips are sewn shut! Gross!

Without thinking I grab Remey to let him know the guy's mouth is sewn shut and cannot answer, and as soon as I touched his shoulder, so many things happened at once.

Remey stiffened at my touch, my hand not moving from his shoulder, I didn't have a vision, it was something entirely different. This overwhelming urge of power surging through me, feeling like a weight in my body, at the same time the hooded figure lets his orb go flying towards us, as a tornado-like wind tunnel went flying back at him. A bright light flashes and dies just as fast.

Both powers stopping the other before anyone gets hit, the weight of power so overwhelming in my body, I scream, as I'm still holding onto Remey still, the wind picks up speed and a whirl of wind coming out of Remey's hands again even more powerful than before.

He starts to look at his hands in astonishment, trying to control the sudden power. I scream louder as I feel the power start leaving my body, the pain starting to subside, and the whirl goes with such a huge rush.

It forces us back a few steps, taking the pain with it, straight to the hooded figure. Pain is gone now and panting as everything took my breath. I look up to see the hooded figure on the ground, splayed out dead, then his body floated into little pieces of what looked like ashes, and disappeared.

Remey still looking in bewilderment between me, his hands, and the spot the hooded figure disappeared. I only had a few seconds when I looked at him with a smile "So that's what your power is, wind, oh my hair must be a mess...." before my world went black yet again.

Waking up in the black lace canopy bed again, with a heavy feeling, and a throbbing headache. I'm still in my dress, minus the shoes, and looks as if someone tucked me into bed.

I look over on the nightstand and see a glass of water and a bottle of ibuprofen. Thanking the voodoo spirits, I gulped it down and head to the shower. Thirty minutes later, relaxed and clean, dressed in a simple black t-shirt, flip flops, and blue jean shorts, I head downstairs.

Combing through my wet hair on the way down to get the knots out, and tying it in a high ponytail on my head. Knowing I'm quick at adapting to life and the changes, I still have the occasional, what the hell was that moment.

I′m not sure what happened last night, but it seems I should never touch anyone again, the strangest pain searing through me, but not actually harming me. Still feeling the sting as I thought on it, and trying to figure out why the guy had his mouth sewn shut, and coming after me, maybe it's because he saw me in the alley, and I'm new to this world and don't have powers like Buford and Remey to protect myself as much. Whatever it was, it's gone now, and I'm safe again.
