28 Chapter 27

We are here, and oh my goodness, it's beautiful! The two-story plantation house, has pillars, wrap-around porch, gated yard, and someone put lights in the trees surrounding it, it's absolutely breathtaking. I'm told to wait in the car for a moment as we stop in front of the steps, I see people lined up the steps, spilling out of the door, and many more beyond that.

Everyone from the other cars is escorted to the tops of the steps by the husbands and dates, that leaves me, and Buford as he opens my door, hand out. I take his hand and step out, looking him straight in his eyes, looking for something other than the coldness "I didn't get a chance to tell you, but you look like the queen you are, stunning"

He then loops my arm in his and begins walking me up to the door "You look wonderful yourself" I say before getting distracted by all the cheers, waves, and applauds that are meant for me.

Smiling, and waving at everyone I can, gripping Buford's arm a little tighter as we keep going inside, finally, he brings me to the ballroom, with two tables on each side of a huge throne made of black marble stone up on a platform.

Buford guides me to stand on the platform in front of the gleaming thrown, while we wait for the others to join in the room. Claudette and Zaline join us up front as the only other remaining council members until the announcement. He looks at me with a tiny smile, gesturing it is time for introductions, my speech and the announcement, I shakily smile back to him.

"Ladies and gentlemen, we have waited over fifteen years to find our queen J'havia and her heir Adaline, as you see here before you today, we have found the heir!" everyone shouts excitedly. He then bows and gestures for me to step forward, as I do, its silent again

"Thank you, everyone, I do implore you all to call me Acadia, that is the name I've grown up with and choose to continue. As you know I have recently learned about me being the heir, I have been working every day to become the very best heir I can be. Now understanding my role of your soon to be queen, I will work hard to protect our secret, keep humans safe, and reunite us all once again!" Everyone starts cheering.

The people silence again as someone starts playing low classical music, and I see the crowd part for Oran to come through, holding the most exquisite jeweled crown in front of him. He is in front of me now, slightly bowing, I remember Claudette telling me to lean down gracefully so he can put the crown on my head, and I do.

Gracefully standing back up, smiling at Oran, and then facing the crowd with the confidence of a new queen, everyone is chanting "Queen Acadia, Queen Acadia".

I'm being led by Oran to my throne, as I take a seat, the crowd is still going. Finally, after a few moments, it's time to choose the council. "As your new queen, my first two acts will be to implore you all to help find out what happened to my mother, I know many of you have tried, but I ask for you all to continue in pursuing this with me. The second is to name the new council members that will continue to help me serve you, we have Claudette, Buford, and Zaline already here, when I call your name, please stand beside them until the council is full"

The room is deadly silent as they await the names "The names are Orson Nolan, Ferris Almahd, Sylar Collins, Kelvin Murphy, Janelle the oracle, Esma May, and Zowie Johnson" as the new council stands and are cheered for, I stand with one last thing "Are we ready to celebrate with the ball now?" with a laugh.
