Chapter 28 - Hate Me Instead

"What a disgusting menu." An elegant voice came from the back of the coffee shop.

"Sir is everything ok?" the cahier looked like he about to lose his mind when he heard someone else in the shop acting up. He worked in a coffee shop not a dam mental center!

His eyes were filled with annoyance as he glanced over to see who else was causing trouble, however as soon as he saw the person walk out from the shadows, he and a couple of others in the shop nearly lost their ability to speak.

What a beautiful person! He thought as he met the boy's unwaveringly calm grey eyes.

Rory shot the cashier a look filled with disdain. "You call this a coffee shop, but don't even serve Finca El Injerto coffee? This place has less class than a soup kitchen. Do you really think I won't have my parents close it down?"

With paced steps, she walked up to the counter and pointed her umbrella at the cashier threateningly.

Her action was meant to push him away from the counter, however the cashier didn't even blink when she brandished her umbrella in front of him.

A twitch appeared in Rory's eye. Wasn't it only natural to step back when someone threatens to hit you?

In order to help him a bit, she pressed the umbrella at his ċhėst gently. 'I'm trying to save you just move away a little…'

When he finally took a few steps away from the counter because of her push her heart felt more reassured.

At least if the angry one acted up, the cashier wouldn't be getting a head shot and have no hope of survival.

"I'm sorry sir, but our store isn't a high end one we don't serve that kind of coffee" The cashier eyes had regained himself from his dazed state when he was pushed back.

"Stupid commoners", Rory scoffed in a haughty manner before she withdrew her umbrella and made her way to the door.

The angry one had stopped saying anything, therefore it seemed like her ploy worked. From how angry he got over the cashier talking to him reasonably it seemed he had some kind of sore when it came to others acting better than him.

She placed the cashier in the same boat as him in order to calm his anger against the cashier.

When she passed by the angry one, she looked up at him to see the hate burning in his eyes and a natural demeaning smile appeared on her icy face. That's right hate her don't kill these innocent people.

She really didn't like people like the angry man who only knew how to hate their own self. If you hate feeling lesser than others you grow stronger, not dwell in it.

Rory withdrew her smile as she stepped outside of the shop, once she was outside, she opened her umbrella and walked into the rain.

Her steps were casual and slow as she patiently waited for the sound of steps to appear behind her own.

After a few moments, she finally heard the familiar limp of the two men inside of the store. Well it seemed she succeeded in stopping a massacre, however now what the hell was she going to do?

Rory looked up from beneath her umbrella and city lights reflected in her calm eyes. She knew that while she was walking steadily it was a complete scam.

Asking for help with the two lose cannons following her would mean people dying regardless of her sacrifice and turning down an alleyway would mean her getting shot. At the moment she could only walk down the populated street in a stalemate.

The stalemate couldn't last forever though. The farther she walked toward the internet café the more the streets around her seemed to become less populated.

She couldn't turn back around at the risk of alerting her attackers. Also, due to her lack of knowledge about Boston she didn't know where to turn to find more people.

Her lips pulled up into a bitter smile. Why couldn't she be colder? It would have been so easy to turn her back and leave the shop safely, however she chose to stay.

After being betrayed over and over again by humans, she still couldn't sit around, and watch people die when she could do something about it.

Rory dismissed the thoughts as a large billboard came into sight. On it a familiar face came into her view.

The man had blond hair and brown eyes with a nice facial structure. His face carried a kind smile; however, Rory could clearly see the arrogance that hid underneath it.

Next to his face was a slogan, "A better future is on the horizon and Edwards industry will lead you there."

What a hideous sight.

She had far too many plans in her head to allow herself to die here. Her situation might look like it was already decided, and it was more than likely 90% decided. But there was always the 10%.

Rory glanced at a puddle of water that laid at the start of a faraway alley way and a spark appeared in her eyes as a plan was formed.

One miscalculation would mean her death and the plan was probably not something a sane person would ever do. Thankfully, she always knew that she had a few screws lose.
