Chapter 30 - I AM BETTER THAN HIM

Walking back to the campus, Rory's eyes shined as she stared at her online bank account that officially had three zeros in it on her phone.

She couldn't deny the satisfaction of seeing a zeroed-out bank account jump to seven thousand. It was an amazing feeling.

Rory ran her hand over the numbers to savor the feeling of not being completely broke before swiping off her bank account. Unfortunately to make money you had to spend money.

The seven thousand quickly dwindled as Rory bought some materials to make a new ŀȧptop. By the time she was finished the seven thousand had went down to ninety-two dollars. When Rory looked at the things on her shopping list she felt like crying.

It still wasn't even enough to cover even half of all the things she wanted. Has she always been so high maintenance?

Rory reached the campus and made her way to her lecture room for the day. When she got there, she pocketed her phone.

Based on Rory's schedule the lecture should be economics. It was a high leveled class as Sovereignty highlighted business, however previously Rory rarely bothered to show up. At the moment she had a spectacular 0.7% grade score, which wasn't zero only because she got a participation grade for showing up to her first class.

Fortunately, the situation wasn't completely hopeless yet. Rory stepped through the door to see a highly populated room filled with students.

They were still waiting for the professor and chatting loudly with each other.

Because of the classroom size the majority of the seats were already taken except for two in the middle. Rory walked toward it. However as soon as she started walking in between the lines of chair the sound volume started to go down.

A domino effect of eyes fell on Rory's figure. Some eyes were filled with ridicule while others looked Rory up and down before looking away.

"Who is that handsome man? I've never seen him in this class before", a whisper made its way through the silence.

While the class size was large, it didn't change the fact that Sovereignty was a tight-knit university. Rory's aura and appearance had attracted a large amount of unwanted attention.

"You haven't seen it yet? Check the school forum! That's Rory Hynes, the weird gay freshman and shame of the Hynes family. Also don't let the pretty face fool you I heard it's fake." Another student responded with a snicker in their voice.

When Lily heard the discussion, she looked up from her papers to see Rory wondering through the classroom. Apprehension filled her heart and her brown eyes flickered in hate. What was he doing here?

At the start of the school year, she had her friends beat up Rory so bad that he never bothered to disgrace her again by showing up to class.

Yet, after the shame he made her suffer, he dared to show up in front of her now of all times?! Why couldn't he just stay out of her sight until the hit was completed??

An image of her ex protecting Amelia appeared in her head and the pencil in her hand nearly broke from the stress it was placed under. She tried to do what her father said and beat him by destroying him from the inside.

However, the very moment she thought she had finally exceeded, he got back up and seemed to have become an even stronger opponent.

Just because of a gender, grandfather has always favored him more regardless of how much she shined. She never was allowed into business matters nor has she ever gotten a compliment from Victor.

Lily gritted her teeth. It was all because of him!

He was a leach sent by hell to take everything away from her. Her future, her best friend, her reputation, her lover... she HAD to destroy him.

"Lily are you ok? Did you finish looking over the draft?" One of Lily's friends asked her when she noticed Lily's abnormalities.

"Yep! I'm sure our group will do great!" Her voice was sickly sweet as she passed over the papers back to her friend.

Her friend looked at her with jealously, "What do you mean our group? It's your genius that always gets us the good grades!" She teased Lily playfully.

Lily's other group members laughed and muttered words of agreement.

A light blush of embarrassment grew on Lily's face as she punched her friend lightly.

"Stop playing around!" Her cheeks puffed out. "You guys are really the only reason I can deliver!"

"Aww look our Lily got embarrassed!" The girl on the other side of Lily hugged her. Inside of the girl's arms a mocking smile appeared on Lily's face.

That's right, regardless of how much Rory changed he still was nothing to compared to her.

In school he ranked at one of the lowest positions and he spent most of his time embarrassing himself in the pursuit of love. His only friend was the largest freak show to ever exist and his mother was scrapping by on grandfather's money.

While on the other hand she was a genius whose father held 15% of Hynes Hotels. Why was she even worried?

Rory sat down in the chair and placed her bag on her desk before resting her head on it.

She had gotten here approximately 30 minutes early in order to get a quick nap before class started and she intended to do just that. Her mind felt drowsy as she began the doze off in her seat.

[BOOM!]

A sound too loud for Rory to ignore sounded out next to her seat directly jerking her awake.

"Move. You are in my area." A cold male's voice stated.

Rory's eyebrows scrunched up in annoyance and she closed her eyes tightly to try to summon back her tiredness. Unfortunately, the wonderful feeling of sleep would no longer return to her.
