Chapter 41 - I’ll Lose The Entire Arm!

Rory managed to control her breath and focused fully on not passing out from the pain.

Her cut lips pressed together as she observed the process of the technological band. She had decided the she wasn't going to cut off her arm.

She couldn't help but admit that whoever sent the letter had her absolutely trapped. She didn't know what she was fighting against or even who she was fighting against.

While on the other hand, they knew everything about her and even gave her a new life. She owed them.

Therefore, despite the pain in her wrist she no longer fought against it and simply let it do what it wanted to do.

The item grew tighter and tighter until it visibly imprinted on her skin. The part of it that looked similar to cooking paper started to disappear on her skin leaving a light reddish motherboard style print on her skin.

It thankfully didn't encompass her entire arm and fitted her wrist like a bracelet.

Rory turned her wrist over and observed the designs with a confused expression that hadn't left her face since she came in contact with the object.

It didn't seem as dangerous as she thought it was...

'Now Wha-'

[Prisoner 88 has been successfully captured. Subject currently is low risk. No restrictive actions are required.]

The instant feeling of wanting to throw up popped up in Rory's stomach. Her mind?? Was she going crazy? Why did it sound like she had thoughts that weren't her own?

[Subject's heart rate has risen beyond the normal rate. Subject is encouraged to calm down.]

Rory dropped the butcher knife on the kitchen floor and grabbed her head. Her eyes were wide as she stared at the wall in front of her.

She went crazy.... Who knew if she was even really here right now? A technological snake? Sure why not? But a technological snake that could hold artificial intelligence and somehow communicate with her mentally?

For the 800th time today Rory's mind was occupied with a flurry of curses.

When Rory was brought back from the dead, she instantly thought, act of god. When she received a letter from someone who knew she got brought back from the dead, she thought magic.

But now looking at the motherboard designs on her arm and recalling the scenario of the bracelet wrapping around her arm. The sound of the soft buzz of electricity and processing power came from the object. This wasn't magic... it was technology.

But then again despite the fact that she was sure it was technology, she couldn't understand it. It might as well be magic.

Someone was doing this using technology that completely left her mind blank. That was the issue with Rory now, she couldn't wrap her mind around something she has always understood.

The amount of ignorance she felt was embarrassing.

The robotic voice sounded again in her head.

[Initiating greeting.]

[Nice to meet you Prisoner 88, my name is Sunny, I am AI created by Syndicate International Inc.]

Rory's eyes widened when she heard the familiar voice. It was still robotic but with a tinge of female vocals and a bit of posh. It was the exact voice her and her father made for the phone A.I. Sunny.

She rubbed her head before looking around the apartment. When she read the note in the dorm she wasn't worried as she knew Knox wasn't the type to rip a letter out of her hands and read it.

He wasn't that volatile unless provoked. However, now that she literally looked like she was about to pass away on the ground, she doubted he wouldn't ask questions.

EDIT- Rory knew she needed t-

[Subject's thoughts are causing the subject max levels of stress.]

[Thought clear initiated.]

The thoughts in Rory's mind completely disappeared causing her to forgot her line of thought. In fact, she wasn't thinking anything at all.

"What? What did you do?" Rory was confused, but she finally spoke to the system. She had went through multiple traumatic events in her two lives, yet not once had her head ever gone silent.

She was starting to believe that the voice coming from the device wasn't just her going insane.

[Thought Clear has proven to make our prisoners 63.361% more effective as independent stressful thoughts are taken away and they only listen to the system.]

Rory breathed out, her expression was calm again. "So you can mess with my mind without my consent?"

[That is correct with the system you are even safe from your own self.]

If the A.I could control her mind, who knew how far it would go? She knew the kind of things her brain was capable of thinking up, she of course only thought things up as a past time.

But, her brain was a dangerous place. If the thing manipulated her to want to create something harmful, the damage could be irreversible.

"Hmm." Rory was calm as she picked up the large butcher knife.

If any of her workers from her past life saw the icy glow in her eyes, they might of truly passed out from fear. The boss rarely ever got angry, but when she did, she was a human form of a devil!

Little did the machine know that it had crossed her bottom line!

Rory twiddled with the large knife. "Another question. Are you directly connected with your creator?"

[That is correct, my creator cannot see what is happening or hear; however, Sunny is able to relay information to my creator.]

"Good could you relay a message for me then. Tell your creator that I appreciate the second chance, but they can respectfully f*ck off."

Without saying anything else, Rory swung the knife down hard right below the elbow of her left arm.

[Subject is attempting self harm. Paralysis initiated.]

Sensing the danger the A.I quickly reacted and the knife in Rory's hand was only able to cause a cut, but the arm was still intact. Still the red blood was strikingly noticeable on her already marred pale arm.

Rory could feel that from her neck down she couldn't control her body. The annoyance in her heart got stronger. She was fine repaying a debt, but what was the point if her own body wasn't her own? What was she paying for?

"As soon as you release this I'm going to do it regardless." Rory said with a biting tone.

She was starting to think that it didn't have much access to her brain other than nerve control. It couldn't read her thoughts, which was great, yet what it could do could still easily get her killed.

[System Creator states, "Losing an arm won't do you any favors, how can the situation be resolved?"]

Rory wasn't in the mood to negotiate at the moment and the question was met with a cold response. "Just stop speaking."

Inside she was fighting a constant battle to move, yet it seemed like the A.I. had completely cut her off from her nerves.

[System Creator states, "The syste-]

Before the creator could finish Rory zoned out when she heard the sound of a bedroom door opening.

Still unable to move her grey eyes flashed to the bedroom door to see a pair of icy blue ones.

But instead of making eye contact, the blue eyes were fully focused on the knife still cutting into her bleeding arm.
