After we were dressed Kyle went to check out. He apparently told the old man in the office that there was a mess in the room but that no one was seriously hurt and that he was paying for all damages. He handed over several large bills and the man said that he would turn a blind eye to it all.
I was looking around for whatever vehicle it was that Kyle had. I know he hadn't come to save me by running on his feet. Though, for some reason, all I could find was my truck. I smelled Kyle's scent inside the truck, all over the driver's seat. But that was to be expected if he brought it from that house to here. But where was the other car?
When I saw Kyle coming toward the truck, toward the driver's side of the truck, I just raised my eyebrow in confusion. When he opened my door I couldn't keep that confusion quiet.
"What are you doing?" I asked him with a slight glare added in for effect.
"I'm driving, so move over. Or do you prefer to sit with me so we can have ourselves one exciting drive?" He wiggled his eyebrows suggestively as he climbed up to crowd me in the cab.
"This is my truck, go drive your own car."
"Sorry, I don't have my rental right now so I am taking yours. Besides, there's no telling if you'll get sick on the way. We're stopping for breakfast by the way."
"Why are you doing this?" I asked him as I slid out of the seat. He was right about one thing though, I didn't have the strength for many things right now. The little strength I had regained he stole away this morning. But, I guess that was partially my fault too.
"I'm doing this because I care about you and what happens to you."
"Are you sure it's not just your baby that you're worried about?" That made him growl. I guess that wasn't the right thing to say right now.
"I can make another baby, I can't make another mate." He glared at me like he was so done with the bantering. This was going to be fun. I liked to banter with people, especially if we had good chemistry.
"I don't know, given the right circumstances, enough money, and advances in science I am sure you can build someone just perfect for you. And I am sure that you and him would be very happy together."
"What the fuck?" He jerked and looked at me with shock written all over his face. I couldn't help it, I just started laughing hysterically.
"That look on your face was priceless. This is going to be great. And to think, if you insist on driving the whole way we've got a couple more days of this." He didn't seem too enthused but he wasn't as put off as I would have thought. That's good, he was being a good sport about it. I can't wait for this drive now.
Kyle made good on his promise and stopped by a diner for us to eat breakfast. The first thing that I wanted to order was everything. I was so fucking hungry that I felt like I hadn't eaten in days. Which, basically, I hadn't.
When I tried to order coffee though, Kyle spoke up and put an end to that.
"You can't have coffee, it's bad for the baby." I just glared at him and was about to tell him to shut up when the waitress spoke up.
"Oh, he's right hun. You can't be having coffee if you're pregnant. The caffeine is terrible for a baby. You'd be better off with water or orange juice."
"Fine." I ground the words out between my teeth while I glared at the man across from me. "I will have the orange juice."
"Coming right up, sugar."
The waitress walked off to get our drinks. The only upside was that Kyle didn't order a coffee. If he had I would have known he was doing it just to taunt me.
"Why are you giving me that look?" He played innocent while he asked me that question. "I didn't order coffee so I could be right there with you every step of the way. This isn't just something you have to go through."
"Really?" I just didn't know what to think about this man yet.
"What kind of man do you think I am? I am not some sort of neanderthal that will make the woman handle everything with no support. If there is something that you can't have then it's something we can't have."
"Awe, and here I thought I was going to get the whole 'you Jane me Tarzan' routine. You're really spoiling this for me." I was laughing by the time I was done, despite my words.
"You really are a smart ass, you know that?"
"Thank you, that's so sweet of you to say." I gave him a sweet and shy looking smile while batting my eyelashes.
"You're lucky I like you." He grinned at me and gave me a devilish look. "I might even say I was falling for you, if it wasn't for that sharp tongue of yours."
"You better get used to it baby, cause it ain't going anywhere."
At precisely that moment the waitress came back to take our breakfast order. I ordered eggs that were poached, since Kyle said they were better for me because they were loaded with butter and a bowl of fresh fruit, because Kyle insisted, however I wouldn't let him veto my bacon, my pancakes, or my hashbrowns. He was not going to suck all the fun out of this for me.
When my food came I found that it only turned my stomach a little for a moment, but after tasting the food I was able to finally eat my fill. It was the first full meal I had been able to eat in days and it felt amazing. But still, I could tell that the nausea was waiting in the back.. It was just waiting for the perfect time to show it's ugly fucking head.
