Chapter 122 - TO THE RESCUE

[BASTIAN POV]

I was just leaving Kyle and Jacy's condo with Laremy, the fucking asshole that butted in on my mating, when I got a call from my mate. The love of my life. The moment that I picked up he started talking, before I could even say anything.

"Bastian?" He sounded worried and distressed about something.

"Ezekiel? What's wrong?" If it hadn't been for the seriousness in his voice I would have just used his nickname.

Almost instantly I heard my mate making a choking noise on the other end of the line.

"Gah! URGH!" He had cried out before the choking officially started.

"EZEKIEL?" I stopped in place for a moment and yelled into the phone. That was when I heard someone else on the other end of the line.

"Look at the fairy fly." A deep masculine voice rumbled. "I wonder if you would show your wings if I threw you out the window." The voice chuckled, and I felt my blood begin to boil.

"Ugh, uuu shd bsh yr eef." I couldn't make out what the words meant, but I knew it was EZ who had spoken them.

"What was that, little man? Did you say something?" I heard a thump then and knew that the asshole had dropped EZ onto the floor.

"I said that you should brush your teeth, you fucking closet case. Your breath smells like the fucking hooker whose ass you ate. Didn't you know that if they have no teeth then all of them are filthy, and not just the damn twat?" I was still holding the phone to my ear as I ran toward the home we were currently sharing. Despite the wisecrack, I couldn't bring myself to laugh because my mate was in trouble.

"Bastian?" Laremy started running after me. "What's going on?"

"EZ is in trouble. Call Kyle, he's still at the office."

"OH, GODDESS!" He started fumbling for his phone then as he went to dial the number.

"You fucking prick." The voice on the other end of the line seemed to yell just before my mate screamed in pain.

"Gahhargh!" I was going to kill that son of bitch. That mother fucking piece of shit should never have touched my mate.

"You even hit like a closet case. How repressed are you? Seriously buttercup, don't you have anything better than that?"

"Stop egging him on EZ, please just be quiet." I was yelling into the phone, hoping he would hear me.

"You're asking for me to fucking kill you. I was just going to make you a goddamn warning for that bitch. But if you don't keep that fucking trap of yours shut, you will end up a dead warning."

"GODDESS NO! DON'T YOU FUCKING TOUCH HIM!"

"What the fuck do you want with my Jacy? You best not touch her and get your cootie infested funk all over her. She doesn't need you or your fucking boss in her life. Leave her alone, do you hear me?" EZ was pissed off now, and I knew why. He loved Jacy as much as he loved me or Laremy. She was precious to him, and he would die for her if he had to.

"Dammit, EZ, stop talking." Following my outburst, there was the sound of flesh hitting flesh, and EZ cried out in pain again.

"You fucking dipstick, don't you know that this will only end badly for you." EZ continued to be fierce and talk to the man as if he wasn't afraid.

"I don't care what you think, twink. This is going to be between me and the wannabe Alpha bitch. She will either come back with me to marry her betrothed, or she will die; those are her only options here."

Following the threat from the asshole, I heard the attacker scream. I don't know what EZ had done to him, but I could tell that he had done something. That's my boy. I knew he had a lot of fight in him.

I had just gotten into our building and was running up the stairs to the top floor. I wasn't going to wait for the elevator since I could run quicker than it moved.

"Goddamn, you little fucking fairy." There was a thumping noise as someone hit the floor again.  "You'll pay for that."

I heard another loud crashing noise then as I exploded onto the top floor of the building. I could hear through the phone, and the door that was standing open to the front of the condo, that EZ had cried out again. That asshole was hurting my mate. As I tore down the hall, I heard Laremy crash through the door and start running down the hall after me. He had matched me step for step all the way here; good, that made me respect him a little more at least.

I ran through the open door just as the man went to slam my mate back down onto the floor. EZ's body was moving limply through the air like he was incapable of moving. For a moment I feared the worst; I was afraid that he had killed my love. But then EZ whispered something as he moved.

"You're going to die now."

"Damn right, he is." I growled out as I grabbed the man's arm and the back of his head at the same time. Laremy was right behind me so he ran to take EZ from the man's grip. Once he was moved away to safety, I was able to do what I needed to do.

"Who the fuck are you?" The man growled through clenched teeth as I pulled his head back as far as I could at the moment.

"I'm his mate, asshole." I said the words calmly and steadily, which was a shock considering the heat of the moment.

"No, he's a twink; he doesn't have a mate like you."

"Think again, fuck face. He has that pissed off owl and this pissed off vampire."

Laremy had also spoken in a firm voice while he cradled EZ against his chest.

"Laremy, shut the door." I grinned. "We don't need the neighbors seeing this."

"Sure thing, Bastian." The glint in his eyes showed me that he was looking forward to this just as much as I was.

"Now, it's time for a piece of shit to die."

Pulled the man's head back ever further and dug my fingers into his throat. I instantly felt the tips of my fingers break through the barrier of his flesh and into the tender and vulnerable pieces beneath. I felt the pulse throb against my fingers as I reached for his aorta. One more movement with my fingers, and his life was over. I had even kept it from being as bloody as it could have been.

Don't get me wrong, the blood was still pouring down the front of his body. But unlike the arcing spray that would have resulted from me ripping his entire head off that pool spilling onto the rug was next to nothing. And I got to watch the man choke to death on his own blood for just a moment.

After less than a minute, his heart had stopped beating, and the blood stopped pumping. That was when Kyle burst through the door.

"Where is he?" The words were out before he saw the dead man at my feet. "Dammit Bastian, we could have gotten information out of him."

"I don't fucking care. He hurt my mate." I growled back at him.

"I know, but he had information that we needed."

"What would you have done If he hurt Jacy? Would you have waited for information, or would you have killed him?"

My words made him stop his protest. He knew that I was right. He would have killed the man right away.

"I know, I would have done the same thing you just did." He admitted.

"I know you would have."

I ignored Kyle then. I went to wash my hands in the sink so that I could check on my mate. I wasn't going to touch him with that asshole's blood on me.

Thankfully EZ didn't seem to be hurt too badly. He was even still conscious though he was dazed.

"I knew you would come." He smiled at me weakly.

"I will always come for you. I love you."

"I love you too, Bassy." He gave me a weak laugh with one of the nicknames he used for me.

We took EZ to the hospital then. Kyle said he would call a crew to take care of the asshole's body. He was going to try and find out who he was too, though we knew who sent him. Thankfully EZ only had one broken rib; everything else was just bruises and the cut on the back of his head.

Laremy had a way of soothing EZ's injuries somewhat. They wouldn't go away completely, but they would heal a lot right away. He had to share some of his blood with him, not change him yet, but just share some of his own power with him. EZ consented, and it cut down his recovery time by weeks. I was happy to see the way that he healed, and I was now very happy that the vampire was here with us. Maybe I could hate him a little less now.

Also, now Laremy and I got to nurse EZ back to health. He may be a little further along than he could have been, but that didn't mean that the two of us weren't treating him like glass and waiting on him hand and foot. He deserved it after all. And we were, of course, doing so while giving him eye candy as he called it. We were both wearing nothing but speedos as we walked around the house the next few days. The new house that is, the one we were just getting ready to move into.
