Chapter 147 - YOU'RE RUNNING OUT OF TIME!

[KYLE POV]

"This isn't what we need to be focusing on." Jacy was yelling across the room at her little guard chihuahua.

"Yes it is. Do you think you have all the time in the world to take care of this? Seriously Jacy baby, you're running out of time and fast." EZ yelled back at her with his hands on her hips.

The current argument stemmed when EZ suggested that they start decorating the baby's room. Jacy, worried about other things, thought that it could wait. EZ, who was a little more carefree than his best friend, wanted to force her to do the work right now.

I could see where they were both coming from. Jacy was worried about what her cousin and his band of cronies were going to do, and when he was going to come out of the woodwork and wreak havoc on our lives. I know this all stemmed from the nightmare she kept having, and the fact that one of Victor's men had been sent to use EZ as a message to Jacy. That along with the poisoning incident had put her more on edge.

Jacy would never let it show, though. She would just get more stubborn and angry about the stuff that was upsetting her. EZ could see it and so could I. The problem was that that wasn't good for her, or the baby.

EZ, on the other hand, hadn't let the incident involving him slow him down at all. He had bounced back and seemed to be even sassier and EZ-like than ever before. At least compared to the little bit of time that I had known him for. And now that Jacy and I were married and time was moving forward, he wanted to force her to get some of this important stuff done.

There was one upside I had seen with the march of time. Jacy wasn't trying to do way too much stuff anymore. Since it was now the middle of September, and we had been married for a month and a half, she was quickly approaching the end of her pregnancy.

I wanted the same thing that EZ wanted. Now that Jacy was working less and less, and the baby was going to be here within a month at the most, I wanted to get things moving on the baby front as well. However, I hadn't pushed it too much. I didn't want her to get mad at me or anything like that.

"I won't run out of time, EZ. It will get done. I just have other things on my mind." Jacy retaliated against EZ's words.

"You know what? I don't care. You worry about your stuff. I will take care of the baby's room. I will be damned if I let my niece or nephew come into this world without first having their room finished. That would be unforgivable"

After those words, EZ started toward the hallway on his own, his hips swaying from side to side to show that he was still very much pissed off, and the only way he could express it was with flair.

"EZ, what are you doing?" Jacy called after him.

"I am going to the store. I will do this baby's room my way. If you refuse to help me then you are stuck with whatever it is that I come up with." I watched as he looked over his shoulder and winked at her. "This is going to be fun."

Jacy's face fell. The thought of having EZ design the entire nursery was obviously not a good one. I could picture it myself as well. There was likely to be a neon pink chair somewhere, canary yellow, vibrant purples, greens, blues, oranges all of them bright and very EZ.

"WAIT!" She yelled and started walking after him. Was it bad that I found the way she was waddling from the size of her baby belly truly adorable? There was just something sweet and cute about the way she was right now. I didn't even mind the fact that there was less and less intimacy because there were other things that we could do.

"What's wrong?" EZ stopped in his tracks and spun around to look at her. "Is there a problem with me designing the nursery?" He was glaring at her now.

"N..no, not really. I..it's just that I don't think that will be the right choice." Jacy was working hard to tell him that she didn't want that nursery I imagined in as nice of a way as possible. I, on the other hand, was just trying not to laugh my ass off as Jacy floundered, and EZ pushed her to do his bidding. I've always said that EZ was scary, this was just one of those ways.

"Oh? Really? Not the right choice? Do you not like my sense of style?" EZ's eyebrows shot up toward his hair, which by the way happened to be in a pale pink today.

"No, I like your style just fine. It's perfect for you, EZ. It's just that, you know, it's not right for everyone."

"Uh huh." He tapped his foot as he put a finger on his chin as if he were thinking about something. "Well, the only solution I see to this problem is that you come with me and help me pick it all out. I mean, if you don't come with me then who knows what I might get. Do you think that the crib should be hot pink with zebra stripes or maybe it should be electric blue with yellow all on the inside."

"Oh Goddess, no!" Jacy's face was a white mask of horror as she listened to him talk.

"Well, if you don't like my ideas then come out and pick your own." EZ grabbed her hand and started pulling her along after him. "Are you coming, Kyle dear? We will most likely be needing your help as well."

"Yup, on my way." I grabbed my keys and followed them toward the door. EZ was truly a master at what it was that he did. He was able to make Jacy do almost anything that he wanted if he truly tried.

Of course, there were times that this particular brand of charm that he used wouldn't work. If Jacy was truly upset or there was something serious going on, it wouldn't work. Most of the time though, it turned my wife into putty in his hands. Honestly, I wish I had that talent of his.

For the rest of the day I drove the two of them around the city to various stores to look at different things for the baby's room. Jacy was not overly enthusiastic about it at first, however, once we got to the stores and actually got started she was able to get into it more and more.

EZ was able to get Jacy to open up and tell us what kind of theme she wanted for the baby's room. We picked a beautiful, sleek furniture set that was all black and would fit in with everything we picked no matter what. The crib, dressers, changing table, glider and ottoman, all of the furniture was bought as a set and would be delivered (preassembled) in the next couple of days.

Jacy had decided on a nature motif for most of the patterns in the room. Since we were both shifters that loved nature, it was the best bet to go with. The color pattern for it all was soft and neutral with browns, greens, yellows, grays, and white. Everything was really beautiful and would be just fine no matter what we had since we still didn't know if it was a boy or a girl.

Jacy wasn't one to get overly excited about clothes. That is, if they're for her. However, she apparently went gaga over them if they were for her baby. She had found some very adorable clothes that she wanted to get, but there were several things that she couldn't buy because we didn't know what the baby was going to be. That was why we focused on getting onesies, mittens, booties, and other things like that.

We weren't really having a baby shower. Jacy didn't know this, but EZ's mom and sisters along with Jazmine and CeCe were going to be coming to the house soon. That was why we were getting some of the major stuff, but only picking themes for the other stuff. EZ would be passing along the information to the others so that they could shop for the gifts.

Even though we weren't buying all that much today, we still had a lot that we needed to do. And all throughout the day I saw EZ secretly taking pictures and sending them to his mom who was going to be organizing the whole faux baby shower.

One of the good things about this not truly being a baby shower was that the guys could be involved if they wanted to be. I know that I, for one, wanted to be there at the house with my wife. I had actually been working from home a lot lately and only going into the office on and as needed basis. This let me spend time with Jacy, and I didn't need to worry about anything happening when I wasn't there.

OK, I admit, I was just as much of a worrywart as Jacy, and I was just as paranoid as she was that something was going to go wrong. Could you blame me? I had seen her on the brink of death more than once, and that was way too much for me to handle. I felt an overwhelming need to be there to protect her and my baby.

Call me misogynistic or old fashioned, I don't care. I would protect my wife, my baby and anyone else that was close to me. Even EZ wasn't exempt from my protective instincts, though I am convinced that nothing could even kill that chihuahua.
