[KYLE POV]
Part of me wanted to rush out the door the second that everyone agreed to help me. However, I knew that would have been reckless and stupid. We needed to have some more people with us. Yes, compared to my feline pack, the Blue Run wolf pack was small and most likely weak. I didn't want to underestimate them though. These men had been able to find their way into my city, into my home, and they took my wife. They were sneaky, sly, and sentenced to death.
Since I wanted to make sure that I was able to save my mate, and wife, I was going to take a lot of men with me on this mission. I had the ones that were there when we decided to go, which was fourteen, not counting myself. Baxter and Winston started helping me to call in more men from my pack, Justin called in some from his, and Thea assembled some vampires from her coven. When it was all said and done, there were four dozen of us altogether.
Four dozen of us that would be fighting against their pack of approximately two hundred wolves.. That two hundred included women, children, and elderly wolves as well, so their actual fighting force was much less that the two hundred. I think we would be quite evenly matched with them.
We needed to get all of us to Tennessee as soon as possible, now we were all ready to head out. The problem was that driving would take too long so we needed something quicker and more convenient.
Thanks to some quick phone calls and contacts that Thea had, we were able to procure a private plane. She apparently knew a man by the name of Dietrich that even she had to answer to. I guess there was someone that governed all the vampires just like the famed Luna Queen of shifter legend. She wasn't real though, so we didn't need to worry about that just yet.
Before I left, I went to see EZ one last time. He wasn't going to be staying at my place, I had done a number on it, and it wasn't actually safe at the moment. He was going to be at his place just outside the main part of the city.
The reason that I went to EZ's house before leaving was to make sure that he had everything that he needed for Maya. I checked the bags that had been packed for her and the supply of formula that he had.
"I don't want you having to leave the house. I want you to lock it down like Fort Knox in here after I leave. I want to make sure that you're both safe."
"Don't worry, Kyle. I don't plan on going anywhere. I will take care of Maya and keep her safe until you get back. If I need something, I will ask my mom to go and get it for me. You don't need to worry about us at all. All you need to focus on is my Jacy. You go and get her, Kyle. You go and get her and bring her back here to me." His words had started out soft and even happy as he told me that he had it all under control but, by the time that he was done talking, he was gripping my sleeve and fighting back tears. "Bring her back to me. Bring her back to Maya. Go and be her hero, Kyle. She needs you."
"I need her too, EZ. I need her more than anything else. I can't live without her. And I promise you, I will bring her back."
"Good." He hugged me then, wrapping both arms around my waist and holding me tight. "I need her too."
After EZ took his arms from around me, I went to the bassinet that Maya was sleeping in. I picked her up and held her close to my chest. I needed to kiss her face and breathe in her scent to calm me down. She, like her mother, had a calming effect on me. My family was the most important thing in the world to me and being near them made me the happiest man alive. However, nothing was going to make me happy until I had my wife back with me.
Following that little side trip that I believed was necessary, it was time for us to head to the airport. The private plane that we were taking was more than big enough to fit us all and the pilot knew of every airstrip that was close to where we were going. Instead of landing at the closest major airport we were heading to the closest private airfield which was only five miles from where we were going.
Finally, we were in the air and heading toward Tennessee. I knew that we were going to be there soon, but it still felt like it was taking too long. I was nervous, anxious, pissed, and had so many more negative emotions that I didn't know what to do or say right now.
"Haha, you know what?" I heard Salazar talking to Thea toward the back of the plane. "All we need are some masks and we would be the supernatural avengers."
"Oh, hush, Salazar." Thea scolded him.
"You play around too much." A vampire woman that was joining us, Maria, laughed at him. "But you're not exactly wrong. I feel like I am waiting for someone to tell us to assemble."
"We already assembled. I mean, we are here, aren't we?" Cristina, a feline from my pack that wanted to fight with us, laughed along with her. I was glad that they could find a little bit of humor at this moment. They would need it to keep them from going insane, like me.
"Are you doing OK?" Lucian came to sit next to me as I was listening to the others.
"No." I answered him honestly. "I want to kill them. I want to rip them limb from limb. I want to avenge my mate. I want to bring her home and take care of her. I want to do so many things right now and not all of them are good to be thinking about right now."
"I think that is normal." He clapped a hand to my shoulder and squeezed it tight. "I am furious, and I want her back. But that is a friendship and family type of anger and love that I am feeling. You are feeling the emotions of the mate bond and beast mark. That is bound to be so much worse."
"It is." I almost felt like the tears were going to return when I said those two little words. "I feel like my heart has stopped and I can't get it to restart no matter what I do. I am dead inside without her, Lucian. I'm dead and only she can make me feel alive again."
"There is one more thing that will make you feel alive." He told me as he looked at me with firm determination in his eyes.
"What's that?" I had to know what it was that he thought would make me feel alive without my mate by my side.
"Kill the son of a bitch that took her. Kill him and it will make you feel alive again. Kill him and you will get her back."
"Yeah, that will help, won't it?" I smirked at his words. He had been right about that. I would kill Victor and that will bring me some semblance of joy.
I sat in silence the rest of the flight. I used that time to try and feel where my mate was through our beast mark. I used it to feel how she was feeling and what she was going through. The only emotions that I was getting at the moment were disgust, anger, and fear. All of those were to be expected from this situation.
Jacy was angered by Victor, disgusted by him, and afraid of what he might do to her. That was what I was guessing anyway. I knew that she was strong and could fight but if they keep too many people around to guard her then there was no way that she would be able to get out of there alone.
'Just hang in there, Jacy.' I told her in my head as I brought up an image of her beautiful face. 'Just hang in there, I am coming for you. I will save you, I will get you out of there and then I will never let something like this happen to you ever again.'
I knew that she couldn't hear what I was thinking, but telling myself the words was helping me a little bit. I needed to calm myself down and think straight so that I would be able to do my job.
"Everyone, we will be landing in five minutes. Please prepare yourselves." The pilot's voice came over the intercom.
"Let's kill that bastard." I heard Lucian growl fiercely. "Let's go kill some wolves."
"I will try to not take that personally." Justin joked as he looked at Lucian. "But I agree, let's go kill some of those assholes."
Everyone braced themselves to land. I could feel their excitement building and bubbling like this was a pot that was about to explode. That was fine with me, as long as they were all ready to go that was all that mattered. As long as they all helped me to get my wife back.
