As time flew by, Hazel also gained some of the aspects of Ivy's personality. She then did not think that being friends with her was that bad. She was okay with her, until she would start attacking her insecurities and speak lowly about her. Only those were a few things about Ivy that Hazel absolutely hated...
But again, her hidden, true personality was unable to stand up for herself. She just followed Ivy around, bullying and venting off her anger at others - just like Ivy.
Hazel was snapped out of her daydreams when she heard Ivy yelling at her. "Are you deaf?! What's gotten into you today?" Ivy frowned. "I-uh... I'm not feeling very well." Hazel made up a lame excuse. Ivy's stiff expression loosened up. "Have you taken any medicine?" She asked without any emotions written on her face. Hazel forced a smile as she replied, "Yeah, yeah, I have. I'm good. Anyways, what were you saying to me?"
Ivy nodded hearing she had taken her medicine and continued talking. "This trip is really not going how I wanted it to go! I mean, I intended to spend some time with Aiden... But only if that Emily gives me a chance! Why is she being so possessive about him. Ugh!!!"
Ivy stomped on the dry leaves in front of her and then gave a kick. Some leaves flew in air along with the dust, while some of the leaves were carried away by the wind, the rest fluttered back on the ground.
Hazel quietly followed behind her, not saying a word.
"I mean... I know Aiden diesn't like me... But... He at least needs to give me a chance! How could he turn me down like that... Without even thinking twice? Am I really that awful?" Ivy kept on mumbling.
Hazel snorted lightly, so that Ivy couldn't hear her. 'Isn't that obvious?' She thought helplessly. The duo kept on walking in some random direction, not talking to each other, except that, Ivy was still ranting about Aiden.
"I wanted to ask Aiden if he'd like to go and walk around with me... But he just left and I never knew!" Ivy suddenly stopped and abruptly turned around, towards Hazel. She pointed her finger right on her face, her finger barely touching her nose. She looked so angry... So angry that her hand was trembling.
"YOU!" She yelled. Hazel's pupils shrank. "Me..?" She whispered quietly. "Yes. You! It's all because of you!" Ivy bellowed.
Hazel was not understanding anything that was happening. She did not know where she had gone wrong. Her mouth was agape in shock. 'She was fine just a few seconds ago!' She thought.
"If you wouldn't have stopped me from going outside I would have asked him! If you wouldn't have told me to wait for you just because you were applying that damned make-up on her face for so long, I could've made a move! But no! You just want to ruin everything for me." Ivy shouted, her chest heaving up and down in rage. "You made me wait on purpose! Do you not want to see me happy? Is my happiness that unpleasant to you?!"
Hazel was so shocked... She forgot how to react. She shook her head in disbelief. Her nose scrunching as tears escaped her eyes. She did not know how she mustered up the courage to speak up, as she yelled back at her.
"If you have a problem with me that much why on earth do you still keep me by your side? Why?! Because no one else would bear with you personality? Or because you have no other friends? I am not your dog, who you expect to stay by your side forever. If I just had the confidence, I would have left you the moment I saw through you!"
Giving Ivy a piece of her mind, she stormed off back in the direction they came from, towards the campsite.
Ivy stood there in surprise, Hazel's words hit her like a thunderbolt. She totally forgot why she was angry in the first place as Hazel's words spun around in her mind.
Firstly, she was shocked because she had never imagined Hazel would speak up to her. Knowing her for almost three years, Ivy knew that Hazel did not have the personality to talk against her friends, that is, Ivy. Secondly, her mind froze as she thought about what Hazel just said.
'Sh-she... Would have l-left the moment she saw r-right through me?' Ivy recalled her words. Each and every word Hazel uttered banged her again and again on her head like a million hammers. She lost all her strength and fell on her knees. Cupping her head in her hands, she started sobbing uncontrollably.
~Back where Emily, Aiden and Cyril were resting~
It had been almost an hour since they had been sitting in the shade of the huge tree, which was only branches as all its leaved had fallen off. "Is your ankle okay now? Can you walk?" Emily asked Aiden, who was trying to stand up without applying any pressure on his ankle. "I-uh think so." He said, still doubtful at what he said.
Emily also stood up, helping Aiden keep his balance on one foot. "We could wait a little longer, no need to be in a rush. We've still got all day." Emily tried to persuade him to take a rest.
"Oh, so now you have all day for him, and not for me when I was changing?" Cyril said, grinning. Emily stuck out her tongue at him and the they laughed.
"Okay then... Here goes..." Aiden said as he moved his foot to stand on both of his feet.
