Chapter 36 - Spider Web Decoration

Hecathe sighed as he looked at the interior of the building. He had expected it to be worse but it seemed that he had been proven wrong. The interior wasn't something that he would call nice. It wasn't even something that he would say was 'okay'.

If he was back in his real world then he would probably want to burn this place down saying that it was an abomination in the name of a building, however, since the circumstances were different, he could do nothing but let it pass.

If the rent for this place was cheap enough then Hecathe could manage to survive here for a few weeks. At least until he finally finds a way to earn for himself. Once he has a source of income, he was sure that he would eventually find a way to live more comfortably.

He was sure that he would be able to get rich once again and his confidence clearly had a base behind it. He had already done it once back in his real world so he was sure that he could do it again.

Everyone had heard about the story of the great Zelium legend. They knew all about how lucky he was to find the rare Zelium stone and they also knew how lucky it was for him to rise a new-found company from nothing. He was a great man who was blessed with luck and he had achieved a lot, but this was nothing more than the over-glorified story of this young man.

The sufferings and struggles that went on behind the scenes were all overlooked and hidden by the shadow of the word 'luck'.

Luck wasn't all that one needed in order to rise to the top. It was certainly a big help, however, what was more important than luck was skill and dedication. If you had the right dedication and skill, luck was nothing more than just an accessory for you to achieve your goals.

Hecathe was such a man who didn't rely on his luck as much as he relied on his own skill and dedication. He wasn't the type of person to please others, he was the type of person who would offend others who could do nothing but smile and try to please him in return. This had become a natural habit to him so now that he was suddenly thrown into this parallel universe where he had no power, he would certainly feel weird and awkward at first, but he knew that this wasn't going to last for too long.

He needed to adjust fast and he needed to figure out who killed Orgon.

He needed to clear Alphius's name!!

He was ambitious enough to seek the truth but the only problem was that he needed resources in order to figure things out. He needed power and connections. Making connections with Alphius's identity was surely going to be an impossible task but he had already come up with a plan to work around this hurdle.

The biggest resource he needed at this moment was money. Just like how money ruled his world, it seemed to be running this world as well.

Until he manages to collect the money he needs, living at such a place was to be expected.

Hecathe coughed and covered his mouth immediately. Because his mask was a half-mask that didn't cover his mouth, as soon as he stepped inside the apartment, he inhaled a lot of dust that made him cough.

"Ah!" Zail's lips seemed to twitch as he spoke up, "Looks like my aunt forgot to clean again."

"Again?" Hecathe questioned as he repeated the word.

Zail chuckled and coughed as he also inhaled the dust, "You don't need to worry about it. She doesn't do it often!~"

Hecathe's eyes narrowed down on the man suspiciously as he asked, "Doesn't do it often? Do you mean she doesn't clean often?"

"No! I mean Yes! I mean not like..." Zail got confused with his own answers as he took a break and calmed himself down before trying to respond again, "I mean she does... Clean it often so this is a rare sight."

Hecathe clearly didn't look to have believed the man but he said nothing as a response.

"Do you want to see the room first?" Zail switched the topic quickly as he questioned.

Hecathe looked around for a bit before he replied, "Since there is nothing better to see here than the decorating spider webs, you might as well just show me to the empty room."

Zail gulped as he nodded and led Hecathe to the floor upstairs.

"By the way, your aunt has a really weird choice of interior decor. Spider webs only look good in Halloween."

Zail was a bit confused as he questioned, "What's Halloween?"

Hecathe didn't give the man a response as he heard this question.

Turns out that this world had no Halloween celebration.

Hecathe didn't know if he wanted to laugh or cry as he suddenly thought of a joke.

If Halloween were to be celebrated here then would anyone dare dress up as a mutant?

"By the way, Sir. Those spider webs are not for decoration. My aunt just forgets about them."

"I know," Hecathe responded without any shock evident on his face.

"..." Zail really could not understand this man's sense of humor.

The floor upstairs was just as deserted as the one downstairs and it was even more dusty which made Hecathe feel as if it was better for him to just rent out another apartment.

"Just follow me," Zail spoke up as he walked in front.

"Can't I just choose any of these rooms? Didn't you say that there was nobody else living here?"

Zail shook his head as he immediately refused, "You can't choose your own room. And I never said there is nobody else living here. The building may not have a lot of tenants but it's certainly not completely empty."

Hecathe found that a bit hard to believe since he could not imagine someone living under such conditions.

"I hope those tenants are not rats," Hecathe commented.

Zail chuckled as he responded, "How'd you know? The tenants living in the room beside yours are Mr. rat and family!"

"..."

This was not even funny to hear....
