Chapter 67 - The Parents?

"The parents... Are naturally dead," The woman replied without putting much thought to it.

Hecathe frowned as he heard this response, "Are you sure about that?"

"Sir, since you have already won the egg, you don't have to worry about how we found it. You can just roast it and eat it without any worries. We assure you that the quality is as good as it can get and the taste would naturally be the best as well!"

"..."

Hecathe didn't know if he wanted to laugh or cry as he heard this.

How was he supposed to tell this woman that he had no plans on eating an egg that could talk to him?

Hecathe simply sighed as he nodded his head and didn't bother saying anything more.

By the time the woman was done checking all the mutant beads, the auction was also over and the special item had been sold for one trillion Lenix.

If Hecathe hadn't been impulsive to hand over all hundred mutant beads then he could have easily saved the Dorgon egg by simply selling ten or maybe even less, but now there was nothing he could do about it.

He had already sold it so there was naturally no use of him regretting things and at that time, he really thought placing such a high bid would be the best method possible to make sure that nobody else would even dare go into a bidding war with him.

He had used the same method that Raven had used previously. To bid so high that he would indirectly be making a statement. A statement that he was bidding to win and not for the sake of simply trying. With the results he got in the end, it was clear that his method had worked and everyone present in the auction house had clearly understood his statement.

The Hecathe clicked his tongue as he stood up from his place and casually placed his hand in his pocket as he looked at the girl and asked, "Where's the Dorgon Egg."

The woman smiled as she stood up as well but instead of answering him, she asked him another question instead, "Sir, there seems to be one less."

"Eh?"

"There are only ninety-nine mutant beads inside this pouch," The woman explained.

Hecathe chuckled dryly as he questioned, "Do you take me for a fool?"

"..."

"Who's going to count the mutant bead that I gave the auctioneer earlier?"

The woman blinked in confusion for a few seconds before she realized what Hecathe had said and as soon as she did, she got embarrassed as she immediately bowed and apologized, "I'm sorry for the misunderstanding, Sir. It was my carelessness."

Hecathe smirked as he nodded in satisfaction, "I promised you hundred mutant beads and I gave you no more or no less than that. Since our account is clear, you might as well show me towards the next area?"

The woman gulped as she nodded her head anxiously, "Follow me, sir."

Hecathe nodded his head as he agreed to follow her but instead of heading after her towards the door, he walked towards the edge of the balcony, and with his two fingers, he slightly opened the curtain to peek at two other balconies.

One was seat 44 where the woman was still seated on and the other was up at seat 87 which was now empty, meaning that Raven had already left as soon as the auction was over.

"What a man who values time," Hecathe commented under his breath as he couldn't help but feel that the man was highly suspicious.

It was only natural that he found the man suspicious since people who frequented the black market were usually suspicious, Hecathe included.

"Sir," The woman called out to him as she saw that he had not followed her.

"Coming," Hecathe simply informed as he took one last glance at the woman sitting in seat 44 before turning to follow the white-masked woman that was ready to lead him to the next place where the transaction would be officially done.

Every bidder who had won a bid in the auction would be headed towards different rooms where they would be met with different staff members who worked for this auction house. There they would get to interchange the money that they had bid for the item that they had won.

They would be given no contracts and there would be no evidence left behind making this place really convenient for hiding secrets. Hecathe naturally found nothing wrong with this and in fact, he thought it was a good thing that there were no records left behind with the auction house cause if there was, he might have gotten himself in trouble.

The woman took him to one of the upper floors where he was led to a room and told to wait there. Hecathe knew the procedures because of the records left behind by Alphius so he didn't find anything out of place.

He casually took a seat inside as he waited in the empty room for a staff member to soon come and it didn't take long for someone else to open the door and enter the room.

"You?" Hecathe was a bit surprised as he saw the staff member that had been sent for him.

The man who had previously been yelling his throat out at the auction as the auctioneer now stood in front of Hecathe with a wide smile on his face, "Sir, how are you?"

Hecathe frowned as he heard this useless question, "I could have been better."

"..."

"Why are you the one here?"

The auctioneer chuckled as he walked forward and took a sat down on the seat opposite to Hecathe, "Sir, are you not pleased to see me?"

"Is there any reason for me to be pleased?"

The auctioneer blinked in confusion as he heard Hecathe questioning him back and he took a moment to notice that Hecathe was being a bit impolite.

"Sir, of course, there is no reason for you to be pleased, right? Hahaha.... My fault! My fault!" The auctioneer chuckled awkwardly as he tried his best to lighten up the atmosphere but for some reason, he couldn't help but feel that he had worsened the atmosphere even more.
