Chapter 69 - The Emperor's Heir

"I've heard that you were curious about the origin of the dorgon egg?" The man commented in a questioning manner and Hecathe nodded as he confirmed it.

"That's right."

"Sir, this Dorgon Egg is the only heir to the golden blood of the Dorgon Emperor, there is nothing for you to worry about. This is the best of the best you can get!" The auctioneer reassured as he exclaimed.

Hecathe chuckled as he heard this and informed, "That's not why I was curious."

"Eh?" The man tilted his head in confusion as he heard this.

"I'm not curious to know if the Dorgon Egg is of the best quality or not. After all, a Dorgon Egg is still a Dorgon egg and it would work just fine no matter what type of blood it has."

The auctioneer gulped and scratched the back of his neck awkwardly as he chuckled, "That's also right. Haha..."

"I'm more interested to know how you got him. That's it," Hecathe sighed as he added, "You said it yourself, this Dorgon Egg is the royal heir so how come it ended up in such a place?"

The man looked to be a bit hesitant to answer that question and Hecathe could clearly see through his reluctance.

"I'm guessing it was sold to you by someone else?' Hecathe asked as he speculated.

"That's right, sir. It was sold to us by someone who wanted to remain nameless so we can't say much about that person."

Hecathe nodded his head in understanding as he responded, "Then that's okay."

"You don't have any more questions, Sir?" The man asked curiously as if he was more than ready to give Hecathe any answer he wanted.

"I don't," Hecathe sighed.

He had questions, of course, but he was afraid this auctioneer wouldn't really be flattered to hear the questions that Hecathe had so he decided not to say much.

The man nodded as he heard this and flicked his finger as if giving out a signal.

In the very next moment, someone opened the locked door and came in with a food trolley on which there was a single egg placed.

Since Hecathe had seen the egg before, he could immediately recognize it as the Dorgon Egg.

'Master!!' The Egg called out enthusiastically as Hecathe saw it, but the man naturally ignored it.

"Actually, I take back what I said," Hecathe clicked his tongue as his eyes narrowed down on the egg and he spoke, "I want to ask you one last question."

"Go ahead, Sir. I'm here to answer all of your questions," The auctioneer beamed as he curiously waited for Hecathe.

"When is this thing going to hatch?"

"..." The auctioneer was speechless as he heard this question and he blinked in surprise as he slowly replayed Hecathe's question in his mind to make sure that he hadn't heard it wrong.

"Sir, you mean to ask...?" The man muttered but could not even complete the question he wanted to ask back.

"Didn't you hear me once?" Hecathe snapped with a frown, "I'm asking how much longer till this thing hatches?"

"Um..." The auctioneer gulped as he tilted his head in confusion and responded vaguely, "I'm not really sure, Sir."

Hecathe's pupils seemed to contract as he heard this and he looked at the auctioneer with a disinterested look on his face, "You don't know?"

The auctioneer chuckled awkwardly as he scratched the back of his neck, "This Egg is already a few months old but its exact age is still unknown. The man who sold us the egg never gave us any extra information about it."

"Then how long does a Dorgon Egg usually take to hatch?" Hecathe sighed as asked another question after seeing that the man had no answer for the first question he asked.

"I... Don't know, Sir." The auctioneer chuckled as he responded with the same answer.

"..."

Weren't you confident that you will be able to give me any answer that I asked for...?!

"But you can rest assured that it won't hatch any time soon!" The man suddenly exclaimed as he reassured Hecathe, "Dorgon Eggs are quite wide-known for having a long incubation period. Even if you want to store it for some time and eat it afterward, it should be fine!"

"Is that so?" Hecathe's frown deepened as he heard this answer, "And how long will it take for it to grow into a full adult Dorgon?"

"Eh?" This time, the auctioneer looked horrified as he heard Hecathe's question, "Sir... You're kidding, right?!"

"Not really," Hecathe simply responded as he met the man's eyes, "So how long would it take?"

The auctioneer gulped as he didn't give Hecathe an answer and instead, he warned the man, "Sir, you must definitely not even try it! Once that thing hatches, you would be putting the entire city in danger immediately! It would kill you before you can even wink. There's no controlling a Dorgon!"

Hecathe chuckled as he heard this and instead of responding to the man or telling him that he understood, Hecathe turned to face the egg and asked, "Is that what you're planning? Betraying me as soon as you come out of there?"

At this moment, the auctioneer had the shocking realization that he had just sold the dangerous Dorgon Egg to a lunatic who would shamelessly act as if he could talk to Eggs!

'Master, you must definitely not believe this damned lying piece of trash!' The Dorgon was not in the least bit polite as he cursed the auctioneer, 'I am the emperor and I'd rather die than go back on my word!'

Hecathe chuckled in satisfaction as he liked the answer that was given by the young Dorgon inside the egg.

"You don't need to worry about it," Hecathe turned back to face the auctioneer as he spoke reassuringly, "I was just joking with you."

"..." The auctioneer sighed in relief as he heard this and it truly looked like the man was seriously worried back there for a second.

"I just want to know for educational purposes," Hecathe beamed, "So tell me in any case, will you?"

The auctioneer gulped as his breath got stuck in his throat and he looked at Hecathe with suspicion.
