Hecathe retreated and when he looked at the bloodless white face of the woman, he couldn't help but want to laugh as he added, "Even if you were planning a rebellion, I don't think I would care too much about it."
"Shut up..." Kelly glared at the man as she snapped, "Nobody is planning a rebellion. I thought you knew how to control your tongue, but I seem to have been wrong. Some things must never be said, Mr. Hecathe."
Hecathe's eyes widened ever so slightly as he realized that he had managed to scare the woman.
"It's just a question," Kelly seemed to be determined to get an answer as she spoke, "You can either say yes or no."
"And what if I say yes?" Hecathe raised his eyebrows as he asked, "What if I claim to be more powerful than the three willows of spring."
"If you're that confident then you get this mission," Kelly seemed to have already expected this response as she replied almost immediately.
"You didn't even tell me what the mission was."
Kelly raised her hand and put a finger in front of her lip as she gestured for Hecathe not to say anything.
"Follow me, first. I don't want some people overhearing our mission."
Hecathe's pupils seemed to have contracted as he heard this and he cautiously glanced around. Since it was Kelly who had said this, it was clear that their current conversation was being overheard.
Even though they hadn't really said anything important, Hecathe still hated the thought of being overheard.
Hecathe silently followed her and when she opened the door of the room, instead of being greeted by the corridor, they were greeted by Kelly's office.
"Come inside," Kelly spoke as she stepped aside and waited for Hecathe.
Hecathe nodded his head and entered the room while Kelly closed the door behind him.
"Is this private enough?" Hecathe asked as he looked around.
"This is definitely better," Kelly sighed as she went to sit on her chair and spoke, "Now what I'm about to say must never leave this room."
Hecathe smirked as he heard this and responded, "You can trust me."
"This mission was given to us by a man who wanted to remain unknown, however, he's powerful and we can not simply turn him down," Kelly's eyes looked to be dead serious as she spoke and the atmosphere seemed to have gotten colder because of this, "This mission is going to be handled by a team of three. Me, you and Raven."
"You included him as well?" Hecathe frowned as he asked and Kelly nodded her head in turn.
"He's also talented and he is perfect for this job," Kelly explained and although Hecathe didn't want to agree with her, he couldn't help but unconsciously nod his head since he felt that the woman was saying the truth.
He had also seen Raven using his double-bladed saber and he had to agree that the man was pretty impressive and strong which was even more reason for Hecathe to find him suspicious.
If he was such a rare talent then there must have been news about him before this. He should have been a famous personality so how come nobody had ever heard about this man called Raven?
The fact that he attended the black market auction also made him suspicious and it made Hecathe think that Raven was also hiding his real identity. The man was probably not even named Raven.
"I'm sure you've heard about the recent rumors...?!" Kelly asked as she looked at him with an indecipherable expression.
Hecathe gulped as he straightened his back and his eyes narrowed down on this woman with great interest as if he had heard something that he was looking forward to hear.
"Are you talking about the rumor that the great Orgon is still alive?" Hecathe asked as he took a seat in front of Kelly.
"That's the one."
Hecathe chuckled dryly as he questioned, "Is someone trying to pay us to see whether the rumor is true or not?"
Kelly pursed her lips and shook her head with a sigh as she responded in disbelief, "It would have been better if that was it."
Hecathe raised his eyebrows as he heard this and he was certainly a bit surprised this time, "Then what did they ask for?"
"A dead body."
"Eh?" Hecathe's eyebrows creased together in confusion immediately as he heard this answer, "What do you mean?"
"The guy wants us to find the person who spread the rumor and to further investigate if the rumor is true or not. If it was nothing more than a rumor then we provide the dead body of the person who spread the rumor and if it was indeed true then we hunt down Orgon and hand over his dead body."
Hecathe didn't know if he wanted to laugh or cry as he heard this.
This fish he was trying to catch was indeed a whale. Zather seemed to have been right.
Hecathe, the person who spread the rumor and who was also supposed to be the fake Orgon that had come back from the dead, feigned ignorance as he asked, "And what if we can't find both?"
"Then our dead bodies get served," Kelly had a thin smile on her face as she spoke with a threatening tone that indeed managed to make Hecathe feel a shiver run down his spine.
"So you took a mission from a lunatic?" Hecathe scoffed as he asked.
"A powerful lunatic and we were forced to take the mission," Kelly corrected him as she informed, "If we don't take the order, the guild burns down and we can't take a chance of that happening."
It seemed that this whale was seriously powerful and Hecathe had indeed underestimated his enemy this time.
Hecathe let out a small chuckle as he nodded his head and spoke up after a minute of thinking, "Then let's go and collect some dead bodies."
Kelly looked to be a little surprised as she heard the man agreeing with no further questions or complaints.
However, she clearly didn't know that the two dead bodies that they were tasked to collect were supposed to belong to the same person and that person was none other than Hecathe himself.
If they couldn't find the fake Orgon nor found the one who spread the rumor then the dead body to be served would be theirs only and it was still Hecathe who was going to be targeted.
This mission wasn't just funny, it was the whole circus.
Hecathe could already guess that he was going to have the time of his life.
Kelly's lips curled up in a smile as she nodded her head and exclaimed, "Great! I'm glad to see you being so disciplined."
Hecathe smiled with a nod as he heard this and although the woman was certainly wrong about him being disciplined, he clearly didn't want to correct her.
"Then you can start working on this mission right away," Kelly opened her desk and took out a folder before throwing it forward on her table as she instructed, "The origin of the rumor can be traced back to all these places but since we can't depend on the information given completely, I'll need you two to go and check them first."
"You want me to go check them out personally?" Hecathe frowned as he asked and Kelly shook her head.
"I want you both to go and check personally," Kelly corrected him as she spoke.
Hecathe chuckled dryly as he questioned, "By you two, do you mean you want to see me working together with that Raven?"
Kelly nodded her head with a smile as she confirmed it, "That's right. It would be faster if you two work together."
Hecathe opened his mouth to say something but immediately close it as he had second thoughts.
He took the folder from the desk and opened it to take a look inside.
"As you can see, there is no way you would be able to do all that on your own," Kelly spoke as she saw Hecathe's eyes widening in surprise as soon as he opened the folder and read the first page.
"This... Did you even try to cut it down?" Hecathe's eyebrows immediately creased together as he questioned the woman.
"Isn't that why you are here?" Kelly tilted her head as she asked, "I'm asking you to help me cut down those leads. Most of them are probably fake but we can't dismiss them because we don't have proof. I want you to personally go to these places and find proof."
Hecathe didn't know if he wanted to laugh or cry as he quietly counted the number of pages that were kept inside this folder.
"All the best," Kelly chuckled as she spoke up and Hecathe could almost feel as if this woman was being sarcastic.
There was no doubt about it, she was purposefully making Hecathe work harder.
