Chapter 102 - A Lot Of Shouting

Hecathe unconsciously stepped back as he got a little uncomfortable hearing this man laughing as if he had suddenly inhaled laughing gas.

"Of course, I would know!" Raven exclaimed loudly and this time, there were a lot of emotions that were laced along his words and Hecathe was sure that he was not simply imagining it.

"Because he was killed by that bastard! Hahaha... So stupid! He was killed so easily! Hahaha... How can he ever come back?! The old man would be too embarrassed to come back!"

Hecathe's pupils seemed to contract as he heard the man and he couldn't help but feel as if there was a deeper story behind these words that Raven was shouting.

It almost sounded as if... He was close to the great Orgon.

"You're the ones who don't know anything! Nothing at all! Someone spouted some nonsense and you all believed it!" Raven suddenly started accusing Hecathe and everyone around stayed silent as they cautiously glanced at Raven and Hecathe who looked as if they were about to start a fight.

It was certainly not common to see guild members seriously fighting against each other, but since Hecathe and Raven were new to the guild, it wasn't shocking to see them having a difference in opinion.

"Raven, calm down," Hecathe rubbed his head with a sigh as he tried to ease the situation but it was of no use.

Raven scoffed as he immediately shouted, "Why should I calm down?! I don't want to calm down!"

"Because..." Hecathe lifted his head and pursed his lips as he looked the man straight in the eyes and responded, raising his voice to be louder than Raven, "You're creating a scene here! Did she not tell you to keep the mission a secret?! Drinking doesn't give you an excuse to act like this! You better shut up before she finds out!"

Raven shockingly shut his mouth up as he heard this and blinked innocently as if he was a child that had been harshly scolded by his teacher.

Hecathe was a bit surprised to see that shouting back at the man was much more useful than simply trying to calm him down by talking softly.

Raven hung his head down low and Hecathe had no idea what the man was thinking but before he could ask or say anything further, he heard Raven muttering.

"But I'm only seventeen... Why am I not allowed to complain...?" Raven muttered softly but since the guild was shockingly quiet at the moment, Hecathe was able to hear him.

Hecathe's eyes widened ever so slightly and for a second there, he wondered if he had heard it right.

He looked at Raven up and down, almost looking as if he was trying to confirm whether Raven was lying or not.

"Are you sure about that?" Hecathe questioned with a bit of disbelief.

Since Raven was always wearing that half-mask and the purple cloak, it was hard to notice his body structure and it wasn't like Hecathe had paid much attention to it either.

However, now that Raven had said it, Hecathe looked at him and felt that Raven really did look young.

"Why would I be lying?!" Raven retorted as he glared at Hecathe.

Hecathe didn't know if he wanted to laugh or cry at this moment.

"You certainly don't act like a seventeen-year-old," Hecathe commented without thinking about it too much, however, although his words were said lightly, Raven didn't look to be impressed in the least.

"It's not my fault!" Raven immediately tried to defend himself, "If I don't act like a grown-up, I'll become a failure!"

Hecathe couldn't help but chuckle as he heard this and at this moment, the drunk Raven really did act like a complaining seventeen-year-old brat.

"How can you laugh at me when you're the same?!" Raven shouted as he saw Hecathe's reaction.

Hecathe blinked in confusion as he heard this and pointed at himself as he questioned, "Me? How can we be the same?"

"You're also acting as if you're in your early thirties or something!" Raven was quick to point out and by now, Hecathe was really sure that Raven was not simply acting to be drunk considering the fact that he had absolutely no control over his own tongue.

Hecathe's first instinct was to be more confused as he opened his mouth to inform Raven that it was because he really was in his late twenties, however, thankfully enough, Hecathe was able to stop himself before the words rolled out of his tongue.

"You're also still a teenager!" Raven continued to complain, "Why do you act so grown up when you're the same age as me?! Isn't it because we are the same?!"

To say that Hecathe was left speechless was an understatement. The man looked down at himself and what he saw was the body of Alphius who was really a teenager.

Damn it...

Hecathe had gotten so comfortable in this new body that he sometimes seriously forgot that this body belonged to a teenager.

A sudden thought came to his mind and although it was completely unrelated to the current topic, Hecathe still felt a bit weird as he imagined it.

He had threatened a lot of people today... So did they all see a teenager and get threatened by him...?!

When Hecathe thought about this, he couldn't help but feel a bit embarrassed and offended for the people whom he had threatened. Most of them were grown adults who had been scared and intimidated by a mere teenager... If Hecathe was in their shoes then he would also have been embarrassed by himself.

"We are more alike... We are too alike! You agreed to that as well," Raven frowned as he added and Hecathe sighed as he heard this.

The man suddenly understood exactly why Raven had been so interested in him.

A seventeen-year-old who went around acting as if he was older and wiser than anyone that he met... Even Hecathe would have found himself being interested to know more about such a weird kid.

Hecathe sighed as he responded, trying to hide his embarrassment, "I understand. We are alike. Let's go now. Stop creating a scene here."

Raven frowned as he heard this but when he looked around and saw all the people that were staring at them, he nodded his head as he agreed to Hecathe, "Let's go."

For a second there, the boy sounded as if he had suddenly sobered up.

They were first supposed to report to Kelly before heading home, but when Hecathe saw Raven straightaway heading for the door, he understood that it had to be an illusion to think that the boy had sobered up.

Hecathe let out a breath of relief as he glanced at the reception and nodded as if trying to inform the person working there that he was going to be heading home now. Hecathe was sure that the receptionist would definitely relay this message to Kelly.

Raven left the place first and Hecathe neatly straightened out the paper that had previously been folded into a boat before he kept the paper back in the file and followed after Raven.

"Oi!" Hecathe coughed before he called out to the boy but Raven acted as if he had suddenly turned deaf which made Hecathe frown.

"You're ignoring me?" Hecathe questioned and was once again ignored by the boy.

Hecathe sighed as he tried his best not to get angry and with a calm mind, he did something that he never thought he would be doing.

He actually bothered to apologize...!

"It was my fault, I'm sorry."

Raven suddenly stopped on his tracks and since the boy was facing his back towards Hecathe, the man had no idea what expression Raven had on his face as he stopped.

Hecathe came to a stop as well and put his hands in his pockets as he simply waited for Raven to do or say something.

"You hate me, don't you?" Raven asked softly and the question was so out of the blue that Hecathe was stunned speechless for a whole minute as he repeated the question in his mind.

"What makes you say tha-"

"You do hate me. It's as clear as day," Raven suddenly cut Hecathe's words short as he stated.

"Huh?" Hecathe's eyebrows creased together as he heard this and he couldn't understand what Raven was thinking as he said this.

Hecathe pursed his lips and nodded his head as he simply accepted it after a minute, "You're right... But wrong as well. I don't like you but I don't hate you either."

"Then, is it indifference?" Raven asked without bothering to turn around.

Hecathe sighed as he heard this question and responded, "That's not it either. I would agree that I do dislike you for some reason. Don't bother asking why because I also don't know what exactly it is."

"Eh?"

"It wasn't anything you particularly did that made me dislike you, but for some reason, I can't help but feel as if we were simply not meant to get along well with each other."

"So it can't be helped... That's what you're saying?" Raven asked softly and Hecathe suddenly felt as if he shouldn't be this honest to the boy, however, in the end, he still ended up being honest to him.
