Chapter 171 - Someone Messed With Their Minds.

"So someone was messing with your minds?" Hecathe asked with a frown as he straightened his back.

LeiLei nodded her head with a frown as she confirmed this.

"Did you meet the person that did it?" Hecathe asked curiously and this time, LeiLei shook her head.

"We couldn't. We left the place soon after," LeiLei explained, "If we had stayed then there would have been more traps waiting for us and we didn't want to risk it."

Hecathe couldn't help but feel a little disappointed and concerned as he heard this.

Someone who could mess with their minds and make them hallucinate...

This was certainly going to be troublesome.

"We'll have to go back," Hecathe spoke with a sigh and LeiLei looked to be a bit shocked as she heard this.

"Sir, we can't," LeiLei firmly spoke with a frown, "It's too dangerous. If we get too immersed in the illusion, we might never even wake up from it and in the worst-case scenario, it might really kill us."

"Then we'll just have to avoid the worst-case scenario," Hecathe shrugged his shoulders as he responded and LeiLei's frown deepened as she felt that the man was not exactly taking her words seriously.

"Sir, I have already warned you. If you don't listen to me then there is nothing more I can do for you. You can go if you'd like but it's definitely not going to be safe and I'm not going to take responsibility for this."

Hecathe let out a small chuckle as he heard this and looked to be quite amused as he asked, "Who said I was going alone?"

LeiLei's eyes widened slightly as she heard this and in the very next second, the girl shook her head frantically as she refused, "Definitely not! I'm not coming there again! There's absolutely no way!"

Hecathe tilted his head and there was a small smirk on his face as he spoke, "I never asked for your permission."

"..."

LeiLei couldn't help but feel unhappy as she heard this and her dissatisfaction could clearly be seen on her face as the girl pouted.

Hecathe let out a sigh as he spoke and added, "I don't want to be the forceful type of a boss, but this time, I really can't let you have your own way. This is something that is related to you much more than it is related to me and that's why you need to be there."

LeiLei heard him and understood him as well, but whether she was willing to go or not was another story entirely.

It took another thirty minutes of constant argument for Hecathe to get the girl to agree and even when she eventually did give in, she still looked extremely unhappy about it.

"By the way, where is Marvin?" Hecathe asked casually and the girl gulped as she looked away from him awkwardly.

Hecathe's eyebrows creased together as he saw this reaction which clearly spoke to him. He had a feeling that Marvin wasn't really in the best condition possible.

"LeiLei, where is Marvin," Hecathe asked as he dragged the sentence, almost making it seem as if he was asking a child if she had done something wrong or not.

LeiLei grinned as she scratched the back of her neck and spoke in a low volume that almost sounded embarrassed, "I... Well, remember the part where I told you that he punched me?"

Hecathe nodded his head as he patiently waited for the girl to complete.

"I couldn't just let him get away with it so I punched him back," LeiLei revealed with an awkward grin and Hecathe had a feeling that there was still something that the girl was hiding.

"Is that it?" Hecathe asked as he raised his eyebrows.

LeiLei pursed her lips and nodded before she added, "Maybe I might have used a rock as well."

"..."

"But thankfully, there are no broken bones!" LeiLei immediately exclaimed as she reassured and Hecathe didn't know if he was supposed to laugh or cry as he heard this.

"His punches are really too strong!" LeiLei tried to defend her actions as she explained, "It was so strong that I almost felt as if I was hit with a rock so I took an actual rock and clutched it tightly in my hand before punching him back."

"LeiLei," Hecathe sighed as he shook his head and felt a little pity for the poor boy, "Where is he, and what is his condition currently?"

LeiLei sighed as she spoke in a single breath, "He passed out when I punched him and then I picked him up and dumped him in his room. He's asleep now."

Hecathe let out a small chuckle as he heard this and shook his head with a sigh as he stood up.

"Are you going to check up on him?" LeiLei asked enthusiastically as she looked up at the man and to this, Hecathe once again shook his head as he denied it.

Hecathe walked over to the shelf and took out the first-aid kit that he had put together.

It wasn't much but it was more than enough for a wound like this.

Hecathe opened the first-aid box and took out the ointment, medical tape, gauze, antibacterial spray, and a small knife.

He laid it all out on a cloth before he took out a small plate and poured some ointment on it.

After this, he carefully looked at the girl to make sure that she wasn't looking at him, and then he took the small knife and held it against his hand before cutting a slice on his palm.

"Master, what are you doing?" The Dorgon asked with worry as he managed to see this small action.

Since LeiLei couldn't hear the Dorgon, it was only natural that she didn't realize anything wrong.

Hecathe didn't bother responding to the Dorgon and instead, he continued on with what he was doing.

He held his hand over the plate that contained the ointment and dark red blood started oozing out of the fresh wound that he had knowingly created.

Hecathe carefully counted five drops of blood and when the blood stopped, he cleaned up his hand and left it to heal on its own.

Hecathe's lips curled up into a small smile as he mixed the blood with the ointment and took everything back to LeiLei before placing it down on the table.

LeiLei was certainly a bit surprised to see this and she felt as if the more time she spent with Hecathe, the more things she was able to learn about him. Such as the fact that the man was not as cold as he tried to act. He still had a soft heart and he couldn't leave an injured person alone.

If Hecathe were to hear about the sudden impression he had on this girl, he would certainly laugh at it and make a joke out of it.

After all, according to Hecathe, he was the most ruthless bastard that one could meet. He knew that he wasn't a hero and this was perhaps one of the things that made him seem so dangerous and yet intriguing at the same time.

Hecathe helped the girl with the wound on her face and when he was done, he even wrapped it with gauze and medical tape.

"There. It's done," Hecathe spoke with a smile as he looked at the girl.

LeiLei gulped as she stared back at him and after an entire minute, the girl asked, "Sir, are you sure I can't fall for you?"

Hecathe chuckled as he heard this and shook his head as he gently rubbed her head, "You're too young to try."

LeiLei pouted as she heard this and she clearly wanted to point out that the current body Hecathe was in, belonged to the same age as her.

However, in the end, the girl decided to not say anything and simply let Hecathe stand up as he got ready to leave the place.

"Remove the wrap tomorrow. It should be healed by then," Hecathe instructed and didn't wait around for a reply before he opened the door and left the room with the first-aid box.

LeiLei looked at the closed door and crossed her arms as she whined, "He's so unfair~"

The Dorgon rolled his eyes as he heard her and commented, "You're the crazy one here. Trying to go after a guy like that is bound to get you heartbroken."

The girl could naturally not hear the Dorgon's voice and hence, she failed to hear this comment that would have surely infuriated her even more.

Hecathe knocked on Marvin's door twice and waited patiently, but when he got no response, he knocked again once and apologized in advance, "I'm sorry for this."

In the very next second, Hecathe kicked the door open and broke it in the process.

When the door flung open, the first thing that hit Hecathe was the smell.

The strong smell of something dying.

Hecathe immediately covered his nose and walked inside cautiously as he tried to spot Marvin.

The boy was not really hard to spot as Hecathe stepped on something lumpy with his first step alone and realized that this was no special carpet but was Marvin himself.
