I felt like I was in a pretty long dream. I saw Abraham. We spent many years together in the forest happily.

Until a wolf bit off his head.

I woke up in shock and gasped loudly. The door suddenly opened and Selina rushed in with a soup ladle in her hand. She sat next to me and hugged me with tears in her eyes.

I was home.

Feeling the familiar embrace, I couldn’t hold back my grievances anymore. I hugged Selina and burst into tears.

Tears kept falling down my face.. All the grief I’d never felt in my life poured out of my heart in a steady stream, burning my throat, stinging my heart, flooding my brain.

I cried until I was out of breath, as if this time I was going to use up all the tears I would ever have in my life.

Jeffrey came over without me realizing. He opened up his arms, wrapping them around Selina and I.

After so many years, I finally experienced the warmth of being protected by my parents again.

I cried for a long time, it felt like it was almost a century long. When I finally let Selina go, her clothes were soaked with my tears.

Selina’s eyes were swollen too. She took my hand and squeezed out an ugly smile. “It’s good that you’re crying, baby. We still have a lot of time. We can take our time looking.”

“Yes, you’re right,” Geoffrey said. “Emma, I think there are many methods we can try. We can do it slowly.”

I looked over at Jeffrey. His face was worn and haggard, and he looked like he hadn’t slept well in a long time.

I felt incredibly guilty when I saw they were so worried. Abraham loved me, and I was the one he wanted to marry. How could I drag them into this?

I pinched my aching throat and forced myself to sober up. “Mom, are you making soup?”

“Oh, yes.”

“That’s great. I was just thinking about having some soup.” I got off the bed. “I’ll wash my face first.”

I quickly walked into the bathroom and washed my face. I put on some light makeup to cover my withered face and deliberately put on some blush to make my complexion look better.

When I came to the dining room, both Selina and Jeffrey stared at me in shock. I sat down to eat with them. The food didn’t taste very good in my mouth, but I pretended to enjoy it.

Jeffrey brought me a pile of information about the Hall Corporation while eating. “I’ve looked up a lot of information about the Hall Corporation. This company is very large, and it’s a multinational corporation. They have their headquarters in Elsingborg, and are involved in a wide range of industries. I’ve looked for other employees who work at the Hall Corporation to get some information from them, but they don’t know anything about Abraham and the others’ disappearance. It doesn’t seem like they’re lying.”

Selina continued, “The eight missing people are all employees of the Hall Corporation. They deleted all information about their executives immediately, and sent a very detailed report to the media. No matter how I look at it, there seems to be a problem.” She leaned closer to me and said, “I’ve drawn many magic circles to search for Abraham’s whereabouts, but the information displayed by the magic circles is very strange. They’re all information I’ve never seen before. There must be some unspeakable secret.”

I never believed in Selina’s witchcraft theory, but the first half of her words made sense.

There was definitely something up with Hall Corporation. I should investigate them.

After dinner, I told those who were concerned me that I was safe. I took the Hall Corporation files and studied them carefully.

The Hall Corporation was truly old money, and had existed for over five hundred years, but they had always kept a very low profile. No one could accurately calculate their assets and could only estimate a rough number that was probably far from their actual strength.

When Abraham was working at Hall Corporation, he had specifically told me not to ask too many questions about his work because the company required them to keep it a secret. Up until now, I only knew that he was an ordinary designer at Hall Corporation. I knew nothing else.

It was obviously not an easy task to fight against such a mysterious and massive corporation. But the hope of finding Abraham was driving me forward. Even if there was a cliff that was a hundred thousand feet tall, I would jump down in an instant.

I spent three days studying the Hall Corporation and quit my old job. I prepared a new resume and sent it to the mailbox of the Hall Corporation’s human resources department. Of course, I did all of this behind my parents’ back.

After two days, I received an interview invitation from the Hall Corporation. The next morning, I got up early and put on my suit. I combed my long hair into a clean ponytail and put on some light makeup to appear professional before I made breakfast for Selina and Jeffrey.

Breakfast was just ready when they got up.

Seeing that I was in a good state of mind, their tense nerves eased a little.

I took a sip of milk. “Mom, can you pass me your car keys?”

Selina became alert. “You’re driving?”

“I’m just going to work. I’m okay now, I can drive.”

Jeffrey was shocked. “You’re going to work? Didn’t I already apply for three months of leave for you?”

“My boss just urged me to go back. I gave it some thought. I’ll always think of Abraham when I’m at home. I’ll probably feel better if I go to work.”
